120 hour

Straightforward course and very informative. The way it was laid out was organised and clear. The modules covered a lot of information and showing the percentage kept me motivated to continue completing the course. The videos throughout were a nice touch swell as examples of what some of the modules were referring to. The tests were pretty easy. I would say the final assessment should be slightly harder, just to ensure that all the information has been learnt and read, and that people are not just guessing the answers.

What would you improve about this program?
The only thing I would change is that the tests are larger and test you more.
Pros
  • informative
  • captivating
  • straightforward
Cons
  • tests are quick
  • lots of reading
  • web page sometimes slow

A good program and TEFL refresher

I received my initial TESOL certification in 2017, but I opted to complete this course as a refresher before I start teaching English again. No regrets! The course was well outlined and informative, and gave me the extra confidence I needed to dive back into the TEFL field after four years. I would recommend it to others. And although some sections can be time-consuming to get through, the overall course itself flew by and only took a little over two weeks to complete while working a full-time job.

A very informative course

Completing the TEFL course online was an excellent experience. The self-paced format gave me the freedom to learn on my own schedule, which made balancing other responsibilities much easier. The course content was clear, practical, and well-organised, helping me build strong teaching skills step-by-step. Thanks to this course, I now feel fully prepared to teach English effectively, whether online or in a physical classroom. The knowledge and skills I gained have already boosted my confidence as an aspiring TEFL teacher. I highly recommend this TEFL course to anyone looking for a flexible, comprehensive, and practical path into English language teaching.

What would you improve about this program?
One area I would like to see improved in this program is the balance between reading materials and interactive content. While the course is comprehensive and informative, I found it to be quite word-heavy with a lot of reading. Incorporating more interactive activities, such as videos, quizzes, or practical exercises, would make the learning experience more engaging and help reinforce the concepts more effectively. Adding varied formats could also cater better to different learning styles and keep learners motivated throughout the course.
Pros
  • The self-paced format allowed me to study flexibly and manage my time effectively
  • The course content was comprehensive and provided a strong foundation in theory
  • The inclusion of real-life teaching scenarios helped me feel prepared for actual classroom situations
Cons
  • The course was quite word-heavy, with a lot of reading and less interactive content
  • The self-paced format requires strong self-discipline, which might be challenging for learners who prefer more structured guidance or live interaction
  • The lack of live sessions made it harder to ask spontaneous questions or get immediate clarification

Good course

Covers a lot of skills that I think will be useful when teaching. It was well structured, and I particularly like the podcast aspect. It could be slightly better if the wording of the quiz was improved, as it used double negatives, which could be slightly confusing, but still easy enough to pass if you've read the content fully. Overall, I was happy with the course and would recommend it to others looking to get their TFEL. Works better when using Chrome than Safari, so be prepared to use that as your browser.

Helped Quite A Lot

I am a new teacher in terms of TEFL and this course really helped me understand the realm of TEFL before teaching English abroad. The program was simple and easily doable as the material wasn't too complex to understand. There were sections that were very repetitive and could have been paired down marginally. However, I think that the course really helped me refresh my understanding of English grammar and how to teach it to various age ranges. The section about teaching English online was very useful.

Excellent Guide

This program offers not only an excellent guide for how to teach English to ESL learners, it also offers comprehensive examples and lesson plan guides to help you plan your future lessons. Additionally, much of the advice offered within the course is not just how to be an effective ESL teacher, it is applicable for how you can become an effective teacher in general. Through this program, I have improved on successful communication with both students and peers and feel far more prepared to teach English.

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
I realized when working on their varying grammar sections that, despite English being my first language, I had spoken it for so long that I could no longer effectively explain what the grammar rules and concepts would be. It motivated me to start practicing grammar again in preparation for my future program.
Pros
  • Clear and concise information
  • Helpful Examples
  • Guide for how to control a classroom effectively
Cons
  • Vague about distinctions between various cultures
  • Some typos on names and pronouns
  • Often over-recycles information from a prior lesson

Great TEFL course!

This was a great introduction to the world of TEFL. It is a largely text-based course that includes a lot of reading, but there are also a few podcast clips from an experienced TEFL teacher to improve the flow. I feel that this course had a lot of resources I can refer back to when I am in the field and teaching, and it will be a good resource for the future. There was a lot of information about English grammar, vocabulary, and considerations for teaching learners of a second language. In addition to this, there was also a lot of information about classroom management and even some information about teaching young learners specifically.

Great Course

This TEFL course was incredibly valuable and exceeded my expectations. As someone with no prior teaching experience, I was nervous about moving across the world to teach a class of 40 young learners- but this course has truly prepared me. I especially loved the detailed sections on lesson planning, classroom management, and teaching young learners. Each module was helpful in its own way. Everything was clear, practical, and confidence-boosting. I now feel equipped, excited, and ready to start my teaching journey!
