I actually enjoyed this one

I wasn't going into this one with a super positive attitude, to be honest, it's learning something that's not exactly what most of us consider fun and it's something that takes your free time away. But I have to say this was pretty good considering my reservations. It starts with some pretty handy info about teaching abroad, which applies to me, then it gets deeper and deeper into managing classes, planning them and instruction. It's really well assembled and has a real voice behind it. Best thing? The videos showing real classes being taught and their interactive content

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?
I'd take more time to watch all the extra videos
Pros
  • Great organization
  • Quality of the content
  • Real teaching videos and interactivities
Cons
  • I'd like to be able to send in a mock lesson of me teaching and get feedback

Superb

It's always a gamble when you buy a cheap product, so I'm happy to share my experiences on studying the 120 hour studyTEFL course. It has a couple more units than they credit as there are some informative onboarding ones and every unit has hours of material to work through. What I liked especially was that there were no surprises as everything appeared exactly how it was in the free units. I recommend that if you are considering this course that you try those freebies. I refunded a different course from another academy that was very thin on materials, but this one suited my needs much better. Really, it wasn't just the price of this that makes it so good, it's the level of detail that they go to and the extras they include.

Value!

These people really care about the student and learning that they try to make happen - there's so much to feel content about when you buy a course like this because it's so cheap but you get so much. I learned with the 168 hour course from studytefl and am happy with my decision to do the extra because I will going to now have my experience with young children. However, for anyone not with an interest in doing teaching with children I think you should better study just the 120 hour because it is very full already with the information you need. I asked many questions, maybe too much asking(!!) before I started the course to check the company but they were always very kind. It's just so very high value learning compared to the price you pay. If you pay a little more money you also can print your own certificate and it has a barcode on it for proof.

This was high quality regardless the price

I'm a teaching assistant so I can't afford an expensive training course. This online course was perfect for me because of price first of all but when I actually start it, the course becomes more perfect because it has so many informations. I took more than 3 months to complete the 120 hours so maybe it took me longer than this time but I wanted to do it correctly and learn to help my students and co-teacher better. The grammar units were useful for the activity ideas, but I know the theory already. The teachers who have made the course are very good which is obvious because of how many informations I could engage and learn. The most interesting units were about planning lessons and vocabulary because I was able to learn many new games. The videos with the units were always very good quality except for a few times the voice might go strange for a second (this maybe due to vpn). The text was perfect and so was the activity review after. I didn't need to communicate with the email team but they were polite when I have my certificate sent. I can offer my sincere recommendation for this course.

Easy 10

Took me a few days of clicking and reading and all that to settle my nerves on this course, but it panned out well and didn't remind me of COVID learning too much. I didn't see the point in paying for an expensive course when there are cheapo ones that seem to have the same or nearly the same stuff. Maybe I'm full of it, but this course suited me fine and I can get on with the job hunt now like. I had zero issues, bar a video not loading on a quiz that could have been my net anyway lol. The course wasn't easy, but I always say if I can do something, any muppet can

I really recommend it

Like I said, you guys have a really great thing here, so long as you move away from your budget TEFL image. You could and should be charging much more, though I'm guessing the market is tough. Customer service and what you get with the course is lekker. I went for the cheaper course for online teaching, but I'm confident that what I learned is great for teaching overseas. If I decide to go to Korea, I'll probably extend the course by 50 hours to review and get extra tips. My advice for you guys is to charge a bit more to shake your budget vibe because your course isn't budget. Thanks again

I was able to refresh my grammar and learn how to teach english

The 120 hour course is very recommended and useful for my needs. I learned about grammar and how to teach different parts of sentences, not only tenses but how to teach the vocabularies also. Each lesson included many videos that spoke the text and asked review questions, but there were other review videos also. The text was every time interesting and bit different from the videos even though it was the same topic. I learned many different topics like behaviour control, making lessons interesting and structured, online teaching, and many more also. The only problem for me is that I need to teach in the class to have practical experience.

Very positive

I chose this first and foremost due to their curriculum, and second for price. It seems like most cheap courses only cover 12 modules, but this one has over 20. The first couple of modules were just intro stuff, but then the course got really interesting with useful content. Every module had maybe 5 to 10 videos, mostly with a teacher speaking to the camera, but some with animations, etc. which gave me a deeper understanding than the text parts sometimes covered. Most modules also had interactive questions that were a bit different from multiple choice questions, like they moved from one to the other in sequence as if teaching. These became really valuable as the course progressed because they made me think back and kind of imagine lots of things going on at the same time in a classroom. I think there were also around 6 or 7 real class lessons shown over the course which were incredibly helpful to go along with the imagination sequences. I thoroughly enjoyed the course.

What would you improve about this program?
Even more lesson scenarios! Honestly though, there are already enough. I just found them very useful.
Pros
  • Vast array of learning modules/topics
  • Value/price
  • The scenario learning
Cons
  • I recommend putting in some video quizzes
  • A live job board would be something I would've paid more for

Difficult to find a problem

I liked the course very much. I have learned many things from this, like how to make my class fun, make them with different activities and breaks, make them control, and make them balance with the listening, reading, speaking, and writing. I am confident in planning lessons and asking AI for help, even with adding vocabulary and grammar. I pay so little, but I get so much here. One time, I could not access my account, so I asked for help and got it in 5 minutes. I believe these people actually care about the student and serve the student, so I return this passion here.

Pros
  • Helpful
  • Teach me many new things
  • Passion for teaching

Great course and price

I was a tad apprehensive about doing this because it seemed a bit too cheap to be legit and, well, because it's an online course that eats up my free time. At the end of the day, though, I'm glad I did it. It was a great course with a lot more to it than I'd considered. It did take me quite a while to get through everything, but once I got into a weekend routine, it was easy to plough through it. I experienced one issue with a lesson practice time quiz getting stuck, but they fixed it as soon as I messaged. I feel like it was really well put together for beginners like me to be able to understand and learn even more than the basics, so I recommend it.
