EF Paris Two-week intensive course

I had an amazing time during my short stay with EF Paris. Number one thing I would recommend would be living in the dormitories (specifically the Palatino residence located in China town). The residence was beyond beautiful, reasonably priced, and I feel that the independence I got from living in an apartment style dorm is a huge part of what made me love my time in Paris. We took care of our own meals (there was a well stocked kitchen with a stove, fridge, microwave), made sure our space was clean and were in charge of our own day outside of school. Although you may get to speak more french in the host families, I found that kids who chose this option were much more limited, especially because they often lived far away and had commitments to their host family that none of the kids in the dorm had.
There is a lot of independence required for this course, you are in charge of showing up to school and managing your time but that's what makes the experience so meaningful.
I would also reccomend going more more than two weeks to get the most out of the school aspect of the stay.
All the staff, especially activities directors, were fantastic. The overall school/social environment was wonderful, I made amazing friends there that I wouldn't trade for anything. Definetly reccomend a stay with EF Paris, great school and great experience.

What would you improve about this program?
They could have been clearer from the start about exactly how the language course worked (such as giving us a syllabus).

Attract your inner Spanish!

Being in Barcelona with EF really brought out a side of me I never knew! I came home being more outgoing and more informed about the world outside my little bubble at home. This program is truly unique and different from others. EF forces you to open up in so many great ways, you're pushed out of your comfort zones and you reach goals you didn't even knew you had. I have traveled before but EF had helped me view the world in a different light, in a more respectable and unique way that I'll constantly use everyday.

What would you improve about this program?
Focuse more on helping the students to get to know each other more. Helping students create a friend basis with their classmates. (More activities, ice breakers, etc.)

I had an amazing time!!

One day my friends and I decided to rent bikes and bike around the city. We had a ton of fun traveling around together like locals. We biked to the East Side Gallery where there is a large portion of the Berlin wall still standing. We walked along the wall admiring the artwork and talking. Then we went to a grocery store and got food for a picnic next to the Spree river. It was overall an amazing day. also, it is so much fun to meet people from all over the world here. Now i have friends from Argentina, the Netherlands, Denmark, Spain, Switzerland, France, and Italy. i had the time of my life on this trip and i definitely wish that I could stay longer!

What would you improve about this program?
The only thing that I can think of that could be improved is if the classes were at better times. Sometimes my friends would finish class at 14:00, but then I would not start until then and then I would finish at 18:30. Other than that though everything was great.

A valuable and worthwhile immersion experience

Being able to travel abroad and spend two weeks in Barcelona was an unforgettable experience. To spend time in a country, surrounded by one's target language and learning skills to practice in the real world is something few get the chance to experience but all should try to do. EF combines an environment of fast, efficient learning with the opportunity to explore the area and practice newly learned skills. EF also teaches the language and cultural skills necessary to travel, barter, communicate colloquially, engage in conversations, and meet new people, giving a well-rounded and wholesome learning experience. I highly recommend EF for anyone interested in learning a language quickly and effectively, while also being able to practice that language in a comfortable, safe environment while also having the freedom to break out of one's comfort zone and be completely immersed in a new culture and language.

What would you improve about this program?
The only thing I can think of to improve the program would be to increase the number of classrooms to allow for a more flexible class schedule.

EF Munich review

Munich is a great city. Its very easy and affordable to get around thanks to the public infrastructure, so there is never any difficulty finding stuff to do. EF provides lots of activities that focus around the obvious language learning aspect, and also has many that are great ways to meet new people. The teachers are all very helpful and have a clear knowledge of the language. The rest of the staff as well is very friendly and helpful.

EF München

My experience with EF München was excellent. First of all the city was lovely, beautiful, and at all times I felt safe. The support from EF staff was impeccable, always aware and helpful with all mine and the rest of the students needs, making sure we were satisfied and everything was fine. Another aspect of EF München that I was pleased with was the social life with the students, I made many friends all over the world and not only learned and improved my German, I learned about different cultures. I recommend this language course. Dankeschön

EF Munich

Overall, I had a really great time in Munich with EF. I took an intensive course and learned quite a bit of German in just 5 weeks. I started at A1.1 and advanced to A2.1. It is also really easy to meet people and make friends from all over the world. The excursions were generally really well organised and they took us to interesting places. If you choose to do this, I reccomend staying at the EF residence or in the EF hotel, espescially if you go in the summer as availability in the summer is limited and if you have problems with a host family it is sometimes difficult to move. The facilities are really nice and modern not too far from the school. But overall I had an incredible time- the school is centrally located and Munich is a really safe and fun place to live.

Great year

School was great, especially the teachers were fun and engaging. Barcelona is a great city to live in, and going to the school there was great because of all the activities and the awesome staff. It was very easy to get settled in.
The night life was great too, as Barcelona is one of the true party hubs in Spain, where you can find a load of different clubs and bars depending on your taste.
The school is placed perfectly around the centre of the city.

The Blessed VPN

As many other overseas travelers might know, while traveling abroad the value of wifi increases by tens. In this day and age, you need wifi for everything; games, social media, and email all included. You need wifi to stay in contact with parents and friends, download awesome pictures from your trip, and make plans with all your new friends so that you can truly make the most of your trip while you are there. When using wifi abroad though, it is a very good idea to download a VPN app that helps speed up your connection. One of my favorite stories from my trip in China is about the blessed VPN. There is one type of VPN that is completely free. Many of my friends, myself included, chose to use this type of VPN. During my stay, we had one friend who used a different type of VPN that he had to pay for, but he swore it made his connection faster than the rest of ours. From then on, we had this ongoing joke where he would occasionally walk up behind us and surprise us, and whisper the name of his VPN network in our ears. We didn't care if his VPN was actually a few seconds faster, the joke was still funny. And although one of my favorite memories is about a wifi connection, which might sound somewhat petty, the joke made me realize how unimportant wifi can actually be. It made a lot of us appreciate the opportunities we were given, to be able to be visiting a different country, making new friends from all over the world, and be given a fun and exciting opportunity to learn a new language. It made us all take a step back and love experiencing a new culture, with cool people, a beautiful landscape, and an awesome history. Whether the blessed VPN was working or not, it truly made the most of my trip.

What would you improve about this program?
This program could be improved by more levels of classes to aid all of the different speaking abilities.

3 awesome months

Where should I start? I have so many awesome things to say about my trip to Costa Rica.

I stayed there for 3 months and it was for sure one of the 3 best months in my life! First of all, my host family was awesome, it was a mom whose kids were only there in the weekends, but everything was perfect! She cleaned every day, cooked delicious food and she was so so so friendly ( I do miss her!!). The school was awesome as well, there is a clean pool, all the classrooms have airco (which you really need haha) and the teachers and the staff are all super nice.

Tamarindo itself is a small beach town. It's perfect if you want to learn how to surf or go tanning at the beach! There are enough options to have a great night out there as well (I think 2 of my 3 best nights in my life were in Tamarindo).
In the weekends EF always plans an activity to go somewhere cool.

If you have the opportunity to go abroad to Costa Rica, but you are not sure, just go, you will not regret it!!!
It's going to be the time of your life and you will meet so many friends from all around the world!!!
