Great Program in a Beautiful City!

The school in Malaga is very picturesque and in a wonderful location, within walking distance to the beach. The staff was friendly and helpful - they gave great advice on planning day trips to places like Grenada and Nerja for our days off. Our instructor always made class interesting and didn't simply teach straight from a book, but brought in useful daily life examples of how to improve our Spanish while in Malaga. The city was vibrant and we never ran out of fun things to do or delicious tapas and sangria to taste!

Intensive Spanish Language Course

I went to Malaga with some of my friends. We had a blast! The school is in a very safe neighborhood and the staff is super friendly. City is small and beautiful, right on the water. Didn't want to leave. Great market down the street for sandwiches and drinks. Beach is about 5 minute walk down the street. Everyone is very friendly. You will learn Spanish! Bring sunscreen, a smile, and an open mind and you'll be alright.

What would you improve about this program?
I think the teachers could do more interactive activities. Class was long. But I was there for an intensive course so maybe that was it.

Best semester I've had

I really do not have enough words to talk about my experience at EF Paris. It was the most amazing semester I've had. I grew up as a person, I matured, and most of all, I made INCREDIBLE friends! I also improved my French so so much, I never thought it would be possible! Also, thanks so much to the EF Paris Activities Office for making my transition as smooth as possible, and I made true friendships with the people who work there.
Merci beaucoup! :)

What would you improve about this program?
The host family situation in Paris I find to be very hectic. Many people had problems, including myself. Please stop accommodating people into these host families, they don't feed us properly, they don't treat us properly. We pay a HUGE amount of money, and none of that goes to the host family. At last I did have an amazing host family, but they are not well paid.

How EF took me on board then took me abroad

At 14 I told my parents I was going abroad. EF made that dream a reality, and for 12 months I was given the chance to attend the Opera in Paris, ski the French Alps, and pass the French Baccalaureate with flying colours. My host family took me even further and we travelled to NYC for a week for my host sisters 21 birthday. I climbed monolithic boulders, attended Gaelic festivals, improved my spanish aswell as my french, made life long friends and improved my self confidence. I became a young woman in France and EF gave me the liberty to do that. I went to wine tastings, visited Reims and tasted real Champagne, watched my favourite Bri cheese being made, and visited the parfumeries down on the Cote d'Azur. I went to lunch in Monaco and was back in France in time for dinner. I drove through Italy for a week over Easter Break and saw everything from a town with sky high chimneys to the famous leaning tower of Pisa. EF organised these trips and more, book ending my adventure in France with first an intensive language camp in a beautiful old boarding school in the north of France and ending it with a week long trip to the Alps. These two trips particularly brought me into contact with kids from Norway, New Zealand, Mexico, Columbia, the US, Japan and Australia, kids who I still to this day, 4 years on, see every summer.

EF took me on board, took me abroad, and kept me abroad, enjoying the world with my own eyes.

What would you improve about this program?
I would change the business side of it, wherein host families are payed a certain amount. I was lucky and experienced a brilliant trip but stories were passed around of host families who only took in the exchange student for the money and did nothing to make them feel welcome, at home, or engaged in french life.

An experience that I will remember for the rest of my life!

I atended EF Nice and EF Paris. I stayed with host families, where I was able to get truly immersed in the language and French culture. Here you get to practice what you learned in class with natives on a daily basis, so the learning is faster. The host-family makes you feel like at home and it was also nice to live with other EF students.
Both EF schools were great, with awesome professors and activity coordinators that were always there to assist. All professors were commited to their job and the students, so I wouldn’t say that I learned anymore in one city that another! However, the cities were different.
Paris, a beautiful, fast-pace city, has a lot of things to offer no matter what your interests are or what time of the day it is. On the other hand, Nice, a smaller city with a beautiful beach, gives you the opportunity to do short trips to the many cities that lie on the French Riviera, such as Monaco, St. Tropez, and Cannes.
It was a great experience that helped me to meet French as well as international people, develop proficiency in French, and learn about the French culture.

What would you improve about this program?
Although the learning experience in Nice and Paris were equally enriching, the physical aspects of the schools were different (Paris being more modern and better-maintained). If I could change something, it would be to make sure to implement consistency in the buildings/classrooms/facilites that the schools offer.

Had a great time!

Everyday there was something to do and always people to do them with. I enjoyed watching the team in Spain making sure everyone had a friend. The teachers were very helpful and took the time to make sure I understood the lesson.

What would you improve about this program?
Having the cooking area open year round.
