THE BESSSSTTT WAY TO TRAVEL

This trip absolutely changed my life for the better times a million!!!! The coordination/logistics is beautifully calculated to make the experience invaluable. This is the best way to travel if you want to learn about culture and be locally and sustainably immersed! Not to mention you'll leave having the sense of what real friendship and community FEELS like. Unlike anything I’ve experienced before, but something I’ve always dreamed of. I keep in touch (months later I’m reviewing) with all my little besties (the sweet kiddos you’ll quickly befriend) to date. Already booking for next year!

Thailand

This trip was an amazing experience that I am so grateful I got to go on. I got to see incredible places, meet amazing people, and make memories I will cherish for the rest of my life. The trip would not have been the same without our incredible local guides. P'Boka, P'Nick, P'Krit, and P'Toni taught me so much and never failed to put a smile on my face. They were always showing us a cool fact about the nature around us, telling jokes, or showing off their expertise in various fields. In our free time they taught us how to carve, make yogurt, played guitar, and helped us to practice counting in Thai during our intense ping pong tournaments. Getting to interact with these incredible communities that I would never have seen otherwise taught me so much. I hope to go on another GIVE trip in the future.

What was your funniest moment?
We had nightly ping-pong tournaments, and one night our local guide P'Boka serenaded us with hilarious versions of all of our favorite songs.
Pros
  • Exploring communities you would never get to see otherwise
  • Meeting so many incredible people
  • Pushing your own boundaries and discovering more about yourself!
Cons
  • none!

Exceeded My Expectations!

I went on the Elephant Experience with GIVE Volunteers in summer 2025, and it completely exceeded anything I could have imagined! We traveled to places so remote and unique that I never would have found them on my own, and being welcomed into those villages and seeing a totally different way of life was eye-opening in the best way.

The time spent at the elephant sanctuaries was beyond amazing—it felt so genuine, ethical, and unforgettable. What really made it even more special, though, were the people: the locals, the guides, and the other volunteers who quickly felt like family.

I came home with memories and lessons that will stick with me forever. This trip changed the way I see the world, and I would do it all over again without hesitation!

Kairo, Zanzibar, Tanzania, Africa

My time in Africa with GIVE was amazing! What an awesome experience! To be immersed in the local culture, with our wonderful local guides was truly extraordinary. The itinerary was a good mix of work & play! The adventures like swimming with dolphins in the open sea & the safari were truly magical! Working to help build & better their local school & teach the locals English were both very rewarding. We also had time to visit and shop from the locals. I would highly recommend getting outside your comfort zone and giving this a try!

What was the most surprising thing you saw or did?
The Safari was the most surprising. I knew I would see animals, but where we were camping, the monkeys, baboons, elephants were actually all around us! It was amazing!!
Pros
  • New friends
  • New experiences
  • Kind local people
Cons
  • Cold showers
  • Not much down time

Tanzania GIVE

I recently returned from the GIVE Volunteers trip to Tanzania, and it was truly a life-changing experience. From the moment we arrived, everything was well-organized, and the GIVE team made sure we felt safe, supported, and engaged every step of the way.

The volunteer work was both meaningful and rewarding. We worked closely with the local community on sustainable development projects, including education initiatives and eco-friendly construction. It never felt like we were just there to “help” — instead, it was a mutual exchange of learning and collaboration. The GIVE staff did an amazing job educating us about the importance of ethical volunteering and responsible tourism, which added depth to every activity.

Amazing Trip

I enjoyed the itinerary. I felt like it was the perfect amount of teaching, construction, and learning about the culture with activities throughout the island. I enjoyed the guides, and everyone was inviting and amazing to be around! It was easy to find the guides when getting to the airport, and everyone was very helpful in answering questions and guiding throughout the trip. I enjoyed the people in the group, and this was a fantastic trip and opportunity to see places safely with trustworthy people!

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
When planning this trip, I would recommend using the people give provides to help with planning your flights. I would recommend having at least two hours of layover at every stop to ensure you will make your connecting flight.
Make sure to enjoy the day and not worry about things out of your control. Enjoy the environment, people, and culture. Try to immerse yourself in the culture, interact with locals, and with people on your trip with you. Take lots of pictures!

Give Hawaii trip!

I got to learn how to make plant based burgers based off of what we had from the land. I got out of my comfort zone and hung out with people I don’t usually hangout with. I was able to try new foods and make new foods. You get to learn how to work together with people. In a way it reminded me of the breakfast club because people from all over with different personalities all come together. If I could I would go back it was a life changing trip and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to go.

What was your funniest moment?
I fell into a whole in the ground while trying to clear out grass from a river.
Pros
  • I met so many new people
  • You learn things you would never imagine
  • The food was amazing
Cons
  • I think there should have been one all free day with no agenda

Best Time in Thailand!

GIVE Thailand was one of the best experiences of my life. I am so happy I took the leap of faith and decided to embark on this journey with strangers that soon became friends. I had a great time participating in awesome activities that I will never forget, such as teaching students, permaculture, cave hikes, elephant trekking, and many more. Words cannot do this experience justice. My fellow volunteers and the guides provided an extraordinary experience in an extraordinary country! I would love to go on another GIVE trip soon and explore a new location and meet new people.

What was the most surprising thing you saw or did?
The most surprising thing was how happy the students were to see us come to the schools to teach them english. Iw as welcomed with hugs and high fives. I will never forget that moment.

Laos!

There truly aren’t enough words to describe my love for Laos. This trip has been life changing in so many aspects that I can’t even begin to describe. Arriving to the village after a 4 hour car ride and 2 hour boat ride, to see so many smiling faces eager to help you carry your bags is something I will never forget. I will never forget the children and ladies who remembered my name and would say hi to me as I walked through the village. I will never forget the smiles on the kids’ faces every morning as I walked into class. I will never forget the endless piggyback rides that were given to the kids, or the nights that were spent teaching the ladies in the village. I’ll never forget the laughs we shared as a group, the smiles we shared, and even the cries we shared. We shared so many memories that I wish I could go back and experience 1,000 times over again. We ate every meal together, hiked together, rice farmed together, danced with one another, cracked so many jokes together, checked in on eachother… the list goes on. We all endured so much together, and I wouldn’t trade any of it for the world. Without the help of any of my tour guides, none of this would have truly been possible. They gave us pep talk after pep talk and constantly encouraged us. If you were to have told me at the beginning of the trip that I would have been 8,000 miles away from home without service for 9 days and still had the best experience of my life, I probably wouldn’t have believed you, but I’m so glad I can look back at this trip with so much gratitude and love. To the cute kids who helped put a smile on my face when I was down, to the ladies who always uplifted my mood and gave me a laugh when needed, and to the other volunteers and guides who were there for me every step of the way, thank you. Khawp jai lai lai, Laos! You’ll always hold such a special place in my heart

GIVE Laos 2025: Best Trip Ever

I went on every Southeast Asia trip, and I do not have a single regret. Each trip is unique and provides different opportunities to interact with the country, culture, and people. I genuinely was able to connect with not only those in the group, which I have made some lifelong friends by, but also the locals in every place that I have visited. In Laos specifically, after spending an incredible 9 days in Sop Chem working, teaching, and living with the locals, I feel as if I truly gained a second family. Even though we weren’t able to communicate all the time, I feel as if I was apart of their village. I was constantly playing games with all of the kids and learning from our locals guides and locals about the life of someone who lives there. We got to participate in local cultural ceremonies such as the Baci ceremony, where the locals get to thank you and give blessings and wishes to you as we get to eat, dance, and enjoy each other’s presence. It is these moments that I will remember forever and carry all of the lessons I’ve learned with me no matter where I go.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Take in every moment, it goes by so fast, but these will be memories that will stick with you and the locals forever. What you see can change your life so much and you don’t want to miss any of it
Pros
  • Amazing connection to people
  • Great balance between adventure and volunteering
  • Amazing food
