Turning Point

I have had the most interesting experience while at LMH summer program. I started with little-to-no knowledge about social psychology and AI advanced material, the program chose very exceptional professors and experts to deliver the material in a fun and informative manner. Besides knowledge, I got to have a wide social circle from all over, made friends that I am (two years later) still very close with them.

The staff and organizing team of the program made it even better, I would definitely go again!

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
I regret skipping one of the social events while studying, so one of the thing that very much made that an exceptional experience is the events that the RAs and admin team help organizing. Oxford might be a quiet city compared to London, but I for one never felt its quiet; there were so many things to do: rock climbing in Brookes, football fields, padel courts, mini golf, and more! (dont wanna spoil the special events the RAs organize ☺️ )
Pros
  • Socialize Socialize Socialize (the ppl there are super friendly)
  • Oxford can be both quiet and busy, u can find what u like there
  • Loads and loads of Harry potter venues (big potter head here haha)
Cons
  • sometimes halal food was limited (but there was vegetarian and vegan food almost always)
  • too perfect

LMH, Oxford summer program

My time at Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford, during a two-month summer program, was truly transformative. The beautiful campus, with its serene gardens and historic architecture, provided an inspiring environment for learning and personal growth. The faculty, staff, and TA team were incredibly supportive and collaborative, fostering a sense of belonging and intellectual curiosity. The engaging lectures and workshops pushed me to explore new ideas and develop skills I never thought possible. Beyond academics, the vibrant community and enriching conversations with peers made my experience unforgettable. LMH will always hold a special place in my heart as a cornerstone of my academic and personal journey.

What was your funniest moment?
One of the funniest moments during my time at Lady Margaret Hall was attending the football tournament. Watching people of all different skill levels come together to play was both hilarious and incredibly enjoyable. From the overly enthusiastic players attempting dramatic moves to the unexpected moments of chaos on the field, the atmosphere was filled with laughter and excitement. It was such a lighthearted and memorable experience that brought everyone together, showcasing the fun and camaraderie of the program.
Pros
  • Being part of a diverse group of people from different nationalities, cultures, religions, and traditions was truly enriching.
  • taught me to be more independent. Living away from home, managing my time, and navigating new experiences on my own helped me develop a stronger sense of self-reliance and confidence.
  • Being surrounded by passionate educators and like-minded peers created a unique atmosphere that encouraged curiosity and intellectual growth.
Cons
  • One of the cons of the program was the dinner food, which wasn’t the best. However, given it was dormitory-style dining, it wasn’t entirely unexpected and didn’t take away from the overall experience.
  • Another disadvantage was that the cleaning staff would sometimes enter the rooms without prior notice. This led to a few incidents and made some of us feel uncomfortable.
