About Program
The brainchild of John Murphy, a filmmaker and professor at Pratt Institute, Alt Studio is designed to submerge young filmmakers and photographers in a different culture and push their boundaries to become stronger creative individuals. This summer, Murphy, along with the program’s faculty, which is made of up of industry professionals, will take their first Alt Studio group to Tuscany.
Thirty students, selected on the merit of their portfolios and/or personal statements, will be submerged in culture and coursework, complimented by weekly field trips to other towns in the region during this five-week program. At the conclusion of the program, Alt Studio holds an exhibition as well as night of screenings in Lucca, Italy to display students’ works. The same show is then brought to New York the following September.
