About Program

This course is the second part of our Bushwise Field Guiding online course program. In this course you’ll learn all about conducting a guided experience. This will prepare you for a career in the safari industry. Combined with our Nature Enthusiast online course, this also prepares you to pass the CATHSSETA NQF2 theory exam.

This is a short, four-week course that covers essential field guide modules and beyond. Our masterclasses are led by leaders in the industry, including conservation professionals, nature reserve managers, and professional field guides with thousands of hours of safari experience. You’ll have the chance to ask our experts questions and receive informed answers.

Learning is also facilitated through the discussion of real-world case studies to ground the theory in the practical application of field guiding. This self-paced course takes place over a four-week duration and requires 7–10 hours of work per week. Anyone 18 or older is welcome to apply.

Coming to Bush Wise was the best decision I could have made. The course, at times, was challenging, but what is life without a good challenge? The trainers always give 110% to all students, enabling them to achieve the best of you. There is always a new purpose to wake up the next day, to wake up to the sound of birds you've never heard before, lions roaring and hyenas laughing. There's just something that drives me to want to be out here, and once you find that, there is no stopping the endless possibilities of what you could become And make out of The Bush Wise Field Guiding Course. The best aspect of the course is the people you meet; the six months you are here will end with a lifetime of friendships you will never forget.
