Our Spanish Language Immersion program gives you the opportunity to come to Valencia and fully immerse yourself in the Spanish culture.

This unique program provides Spanish language classes at our Euroace school while having the option to live with a Spanish host family for a wholesome experience!

The program can be made to measure for university and high school students or for other institutions. We offer General Spanish courses, Specific Spanish courses (business, law, health care, Spanish for DELE examinations, etc.) or Spanish Culture Programs covering a variety of topics focusing on culture, history, and idiosyncrasy. All Spanish courses are able to be combined with cultural activities to give you an insight into the "real Spain".

I really enjoyed the course. I learned Spanish mostly by myself before coming to EUROACE, so I was missing structure and basic grammar rules. I enjoyed the teaching style in the school a lot, the teachers presented the lessons in a fun and engaging way, presenting key grammar structures but also introducing lots of conversations, making us involved and willing to share lots of personal stories, to make us speak and get to know each other. I made many friends in my class that I would keep in touch with after the end of the course. The teachers were always very enthusiastic in class and their enthusiasm helped me a lot to motivate me to study. We could also customize the content of the classes, so I could ask about grammar rules and other gaps that I had with the language that were outside the study plan. I really enjoyed the support of the EUROACE team, they were very reliable and and friendly, I felt I very secure, being in a foreign country, I felt I could really rely on them to help me for any kind of orientation and support related to my everyday life.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?

My advice to future travelers is to use every chance to interact with the Spanish culture, to take part in the excursions and evening activities organised by EUROACE and to interact with the locals in different events like language exchanges as well as where you live to experience the lifestyle of Spanish people, make friends with the locals as well as use every chance to speak Spanish, also with your schoolmates, even though you may share a common native language.

My study abroad experience was by far the best 5 weeks of my life. Immersing yourself in another culture is a challenging, yet highly rewarding process and Euroace is definitely the most friendly and accommodating group to guide you on your trip! If you're worried about communicating, they are fluent in English but encourage you to speak Spanish-only and grow in your language abilities. When I went abroad, I had already completed a Spanish minor and the amount of progress I made by speaking Spanish full time for 5 weeks was truly unimaginable - I began to have dreams in my second language and I was so moved by my experience that I decided to change my degree plan and major in Spanish!

The Euroace group is so personable - Isa & Jose get to know participants on an individual level through instruction and group outings, so you are able to have a personal connection with native Spaniards just through this program, not to mention all the others you will meet and connect with through your daily ventures, conversation exchanges and weekend excursions. I learned so much about the culture and language in only 5 weeks in Spain through the Euroace program!

My only regret is that I didn't spend more time abroad before I graduated and entered the work force. If you're hesitating at all, my advice is to go abroad with Euroace! Stay for a month, a semester, a year - the longer the better and the more you will grow in your language abilities!

What would you improve about this program?

I don't think anything necessarily about the program needs to be improved - I just wish I had stayed in Spain for a longer period of time.

I enjoyed the program so much that I have since returned to Valencia to visit the city as well as the program staff (Isa and Jose). The first time I was there, I studied with a group from my university and we had a terrific time. We were able to explore Valencia on our own and really experience the Valencian/Spanish culture first hand. Of course Isa and Jose helped out if we had any questions about what to see or do. They also set up weekly excursions for us that ranged from cultural museums to kayaking in the mountains and sailing in the Mediterranean.

From and academic stand point I learned more than I thought I ever could in only 5 weeks. The teachers did a great job of integrating our daily experiences into the class curriculum. For example, when we took a trip to the central market, we were able to experience something completely new (no markets like that in the USA) and were able to learn many new vocabulary words. After a weekend trip to Madrid and Toledo, sponsored by the program, we learned the different verb tenses to use in discussing the trip we just took. The classroom setting was inviting and fun, and we were able to learn from the teacher as well as each other.

What would you improve about this program?

I would have liked to learn a little more about the subjunctive tense. After being in Spain, I realized that the subjunctive is used very frequently. Our class focused a lot on the finer details of the language such as gender and number, as well as prepositions, commands, etc. This is not a bad thing because I certainly needed to review those parts of the language too.

I really have nothing to strongly suggest for improvement. I would not have returned to visit if I didn't enjoy myself the first time.

Euroace are the reason why I have fallen in love with Spain and the Spanish culture. Their outstanding teaching methods, vibrant language exchanges, diverse range of cultural activities, but above all their warmth and generosity, have made every ounce of this experience worthwhile. Living in a foreign country and having to adapt to a new language can be a daunting task for many first-timers. With Euroace, you undoubtedly skip this step. They make the transition into your new lifestyle so easy that you're bound to be calling Spain 'Home' in no time.

What would you improve about this program?

If I had to change one aspect of this program, I would encourage Euroace to expand its office to other European countries such as the UK. I have been very fortunate to have taken part in this program and to have made so many wonderful memories. I now wish to spread the word to the next generation of Erasmus students embarking upon this incredible adventure so that they too can live through this special journey.

Why did you pick this program?

I chose to study abroad in Spain through EUROACE because my University and instructors had an established connection with the program. Our group of about 15 students and 2 instructors left from South Dakota and were greeted in person upon our arrival in Valencia by the EUROACE leaders, Isa and José. These two were our everything: resident experts, instructors, friends, and tour guides for the next 5 weeks.

Not only did this program provide us with great instruction – learning the Spanish language from native speakers in a small classroom – but they also created numerous opportunities for us to interact with other Spaniards and participate in new and fun cultural, academic and active pursuits. They organized our inter-city events as well as our travel and excursions outside the city, within Spain.

What is the most important thing you learned abroad?

The most important thing I learned while being abroad is that the world is a huge place! I am from South Dakota, an area of the Midwest that is far from culturally diverse.

When I travelled to Spain, my first big trip outside of the US, I realized how limited my world view had been. You’ll meet people with similar personalities as those you already know no matter where you go, but you can only understand the different places and manners in which people live their lives by immersing yourself in their culture. I could not have imagined the difference in lifestyle without experiencing it firsthand for an extended period of time.

My experience abroad forever altered my vision of the world, our society, and my place within it. It's a new awe that cannot be fully described in words -- something everyone must truly experience first hand.

What do you tell your friends who are thinking about going abroad?

When I hear someone contemplating going abroad, I tell them not to hesitate - they simply MUST GO!

A couple of the main concerns I have heard include the financial burden and being away from loved ones. My advice for students is: take out a loan for your trip if that’s what it takes, because they can be spendy. My mother really encouraged me to go abroad during my undergraduate years and so I took out a loan to pay for my 5 week trip.

I didn’t fully realize the freedom you have in your schedule as a student. However, now as a member of the full time work force, I am saddened to admit that the opportunity to immerse myself in another culture for any period of time longer than a week no longer exists for me! My biggest regret is not spending more time abroad as a student – I wish I had gone on another month-long excursion or even a full semester in a Spanish speaking country.

What made this experience unique and special?

This experience was unique and special because as a student learning Spanish, we were encouraged to abstain from using English for the duration of our 5 week program. While it was challenging waking up hearing our host mother speak to us in Spanish, we had no choice but to spark our brainwaves and speak back to her in our second language – it was our only option because she did not speak English!

While this may seem daunting, immersion is the most effective way of enhancing your language speaking abilities. Despite the challenge, it was one of the most personally rewarding experiences of my life. I was one of the stronger Spanish speakers within our group, and a lot of my peers relied on me to communicate for them. I took advantage of every opportunity to speak, and I felt so proud of myself after realizing how much my skills had grown and I could communicate my everyday needs in a foreign country!

Some of my big learning experiences included: successfully completing a clothing return at a department store, and approaching a group of young Spaniards in a bar and joining in on their Spanish version of my favorite game: Trivial Pursuit!

What is your favorite travel memory?

I think my favorite travel memory was when I went to South Africa when I was younger. It's the most exotic destination I've ever been to and as I was younger I feel like I really appreciated visiting such a different culture. I also can't forget my Erasmus study in Belgium and my Au Pair stay in Ireland. Both of these experiences were for longer stays and so I got a true linguistic and cultural immersion while living there!

How have you changed/grown since working for your current company?

I'd say the biggest improvement I have made as a teacher is to be able to adapt to my students.

Euroace adapts to the requirements of student groups and individuals to make sure their timetable, class level, and program suits them. I have become a better teacher as I need to adapt to international students from all backgrounds and levels of Spanish, selecting the right materials, changing the lessons when necessary and overall focusing on getting the best out of each student.

What is the best story you've heard from a return student?

Many students have returned to Euroace and this is great to see! It's a good sign for the company when students return as it proves they enjoyed their experience, and from what I have seen, students come back to try a different type of project.

I have seen many students return to live with a host family or take an Internship, for example. Students genuinely fall in love with Valencia, even up to the point of getting a tattoo to remind them of this city and their time here!

If you could go on any program that your company offers, which one would you choose and why?

I would choose a Volunteer program with a Spanish language course and live with a host family. I think this would be the most complete option on a cultural level. You would be obligated to speak Spanish every day with the family, and then you would get to perfect your language skills in the classroom.

I think volunteering is a perfect complement to this and would make it something unique. As a teacher, I have heard in class about the positive experience students have had to live with a native family.

What makes your company unique? When were you especially proud of your team?

The flexibility. Euroace offers a variety of programs, and all of them are completely accessible to every student. The student can choose their timetable, how long they want to stay for and what they want to do. Also, our team is really personable and so this makes it easy to organize your program.

I am proud of everything. We are truly a team and we all help each other every day. Our work environment is dynamic and we are always communicating to make sure we provide the best experience for our students.

What do you believe to be the biggest factor in being a successful company?

To be successful, I think you always have to try to improve and question what you do, constantly changing methods if they are not working.

The staff has to always keep learning too, making sure things are dynamic and don't become stagnant. Also, it's important to ask for feedback from current and past students so you can see what things can be improved.
