Beyond my expectations!

I can't be happier of having done this program. It was hard to face some of the challenging realities that we did, and that is why it really blowed up my mind! It isn't just about academics; it's immersive, challenging, and deeply human. It made me question my own biases and think critically about how we as a society approach these issues. The coordinators and field experts were incredible, and the hands-on experiences made the learning so real and impactful. It went way beyond my expectations.
Highly recommended!

Months later, and it’s still living in my head rent-free

This program completely changed my life and how I see the world. I went in thinking I had a decent understanding of migration and social justice issues, but nothing could have prepared me for how eye-opening this experience would be.
Spending time in both Spain and Morocco gave me a first-hand look at the realities of migration. From meeting migrants and working with local NGOs to studying how the media and policies shape the narrative, I learned so much about privilege, diversity, and what social justice really means. I really recommend this program.

What was your funniest moment?
The program is incredibly dynamic, you’re constantly on the move! It’s a perfect blend of adventures, unforgettable moments, visits to amazing places, meeting incredible people, and truly enjoying every experience to the fullest. Looking back, two moments stand out as my favorites. The first was the laughter we shared at the end of each day, fueled by exhaustion and the hilarious stories we’d tell about what had happened. The second is now, as I look back on those moments and laugh just as hard while reminiscing with the people who were part of this journey. It’s a program that leaves you with stories and friendships to cherish for a lifetime
Pros
  • Visiting places you never thought you’d have the chance to see
  • learning how to bake bread in the home of a local family
  • CELEI’s thoughtful care to ensure we were always protected from the sun

Morroco and Spain experience

Lesley University was a great school to finish my Bachelor's degree in early childhood education. When the program offered the opportunity to go to Spain and study immigration between Morocco and Spain, I accepted right away. Studying with Celei in Spain was a great experience. The teaching, the experience, and all of what the program offered were awesome. Celei school was a great experience I would recommend everybody who wants to go and learn about this topic and experience something completely different from what we learn in the United States.

What was your funniest moment?
When we all got together to go to Cordoba, we had an awesome time, as well, when we went to Morroco on the ferry.

Life Changing

This trip was life changing, humbling, eye opening , one of the most magical experiences of my life. I learned what it was to be a traveler and not a tourist. We got to see the perspective of the people, of the migrants of both Spain and Moroccos governments. I remember sitting in a room in Spain with 3 -4 translators and we’d sit and wait for each translation until it got to English. It was funny acting like we knew what was being said for the first three translations. This trip gave me perspective on life and I am forever grateful. Spain Morocco, Amy & family Antonio and family all amazing people amazing food , learned so much thank you this was in 2020 and I remember like it was yesterday.

Unforgettable & Life Changing Experience

This experience was incredibly well-rounded. I have a deeper understanding of the land, history, people, politics, and powers at play. Now when I travel I wish I was given the full story the way I received it on this trip.
We explored the places we talked about, debriefed afterwards, and had time to reflect. The people I went with enhanced this experience as we all came from different backgrounds.

This trip was so influential to the way I observe the world and Granada will forever have a piece of my heart.
