RVF's Study Abroad - Master's in Bilingual Education, Nebrija University, Madrid

I’ve found the Master’s in Bilingual Education at Nebrija to be a rigorous and intellectually engaging program. Several professors stand out for their clarity, strong grounding in theory, and practical classroom applicability, particularly in CLIL methodology and active learning approaches.

The program requires a high level of autonomy and time management, especially for students who are also working. For those combining teaching responsibilities with full-time study, it is important to be prepared for an intensive schedule. However, the academic depth and exposure to bilingual methodology provide meaningful professional growth.

One of the strongest aspects of the program is its emphasis on connecting theory to real classroom contexts. When students actively engage with the material and apply it in their teaching practice, the learning becomes especially valuable.

Overall, the program offers solid academic preparation for educators seeking to deepen their understanding of bilingual education within a European framework. RVF also provided great guidance throughout the application process. Thanks!

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?
The only thing I would change is that I would not try to do the auxiliar program at the same time. Is it possible to do both? Absolutely, however, it requires careful time management, and I would like to have been able to explore more of Madrid and its culture. It's an amazing city.
Pros
  • Well-organized
  • Supportive Staff
  • Excellent Professors
Cons
  • Time Management

A Rewarding Master’s Experience at Nebrija University in Madrid

My experience studying in the Master’s program in International Relations at Nebrija University in Madrid has been extremely positive and rewarding. The program offers a well-structured curriculum that combines strong theoretical foundations with practical perspectives on global politics, diplomacy, and international cooperation. Courses address contemporary international challenges and encourage critical thinking, which makes the academic experience both engaging and relevant.

One of the aspects I value most about Nebrija University is the quality of the faculty. Many professors bring not only academic expertise but also professional experience in diplomacy, policy, and international organizations. This connection between theory and real-world practice makes classroom discussions dynamic and insightful, and it helps students better understand how international relations operate in practice.

The international environment of the program has also been a major highlight. Studying alongside classmates from different countries and academic backgrounds creates a truly global learning atmosphere. The diversity of perspectives enriches discussions and helps develop a deeper understanding of international issues from multiple viewpoints.

In addition, studying in Madrid adds another dimension to the experience. The city is an important political and cultural hub, and being here provides opportunities to attend events, conferences, and discussions related to international affairs.

I’m very grateful that I had guidance from RVF during the application process, as their support helped me navigate the requirements and ultimately join a program that has proven to be both academically challenging and personally enriching. I would recommend Nebrija University to anyone interested in pursuing advanced studies in international relations in a dynamic and international environment.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
My advice to future travelers and students considering this program is to come with an open mind and take full advantage of everything the experience offers. The Master’s program in International Relations at Nebrija University is not only academically engaging, but it also provides a great opportunity to learn from people with diverse perspectives and backgrounds.

Be active in class discussions and take the time to connect with your professors and classmates. The international environment is one of the strongest aspects of the program, and engaging with others will greatly enrich your understanding of global issues.

I would also recommend exploring Madrid as much as possible. The city is vibrant, culturally rich, and full of opportunities to attend conferences, public talks, and international events that complement what you learn in the classroom. Taking advantage of these opportunities can really deepen your overall experience.

Finally, stay organized and proactive throughout the program. Graduate studies can be demanding, but if you manage your time well and remain curious and engaged, the experience will be both academically rewarding and personally memorable.

Life As A Madrileño

My time with RVF International as an English Auxiliary in Spain has been nothing short of fantastic. I am ethnically Spanish, but was adopted as a child, so this allowed me to get in touch with my roots. However, no one could have told me the extent to which I would fall in love with Spain and its people. Whether it’s tapas on the street, local dives, or beach trips to Alicante, everything is a lifetime adventure.

There are places online that talk about the school experience in a stressful light. In my experience, it was a great chance to grow alongside the kids. Quickly, we adapted to each other, and I’ll miss all of them as I leave the school in San Lorenzo in the coming weeks. The area around my school is stunning, as the monastery is an authentic Spanish treasure. I am a little sad that you can only be in one school for two years, as I’ve formed strong bonds with the students and faculty during my time here.

I came to Spain with a base level of Spanish that can only be achieved from an American High School. Needless to say, I wasn’t the strongest speaker. However, in Madrid, everyone was super nice and easy-going from the moment I stepped off the plane. My local alimentacion is run by a couple that speaks no English, but we crossed that divide and now check in with each other every few days if we don’t go to the store. While the city of Madrid offers the hustle and bustle and nightlife of a major city, it also has a sense of tranquility amongst the crowd.

This program is 110% recommended for people of all ages looking to immerse themselves in a new culture.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
The most rewarding experience comes with an open mind. This new city and new culture have everything to offer. As someone who had never taught before, there was a substantial learning curve at the start of my time in Madrid. However, learning on the fly, as I am told, is a part of the Spanish experience. Everything is more laid back in Spain, including the relationship between student and teacher. Of course, there is a world to explore beyond the workplace. It’s a fantastic place to meet a lot of new people and be open to new experiences. The people of Madrid are often very friendly and inviting. Go to Taperias and other locations to drink, eat, and make new friends. Lastly, explore no matter where the placement is. There are many awesome cities throughout Spain. Our personal favorites, besides Madrid, are Oviedo, Bilbao, and San Sebastian. Each place comes with unique foods and history for you to explore!
Pros
  • The People of Spain
  • Many Different Localizaed Cuisines
  • Immersion And Learning The Spanish Language
