International Rotation Elective in Gulu, Uganda
- Uganda
About Program
Fourth year medical students can earn an international elective credit through a rotation at Gulu Regional Referral Hospital in Gulu, a rural town located in northern Uganda. This area has been plagued by a 20-year conflict, and is now in recovery. This is an exciting time to work with local physicians and make a positive and lasting impact.
What makes ARCH's program unique is our commitment to the community and student immersion. ARCH works with public rural hospitals and health centers, rather than private, in order to maximize our impact.
Additionally, participants stay with local host families and participate in outreach programs including teaching hand-washing to children, and teaching adolescent girls how to make reusable sanitary pads.
With over 1.5 billion people in world living without adequate access to healthcare, ARCH helps in bridging the gap by providing a service to the most vulnerable rural populations. Join us in our mission and make a global impact.
