Teaching in china 2015-2016

First class experience all supported and organised through impact teaching which before was teach English in china. Arnold and the guys made everything simple and there was always support and someone there to help when needed. Process was very smooth and service was excellent. Very well organised and did not feel like you were moving so far away from home.

Would highly recommend Arnold very personable and willing to help. Has kept in touch nearly 10 years later and has helped me with a few career things along the way.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Go for it. Don’t think, DO. Travelling and seeing the world is a better experience than anything else . You will grow

Robbie Taylor China 2024

Firstly Arnold at Impact Teaching was incredibly helpful and supportive during the entire process, and was always there when I needed him. Living here is a great experience which I am glad I did, and I believe it is incredibly valuable and will hopefully open the door to more opportunities potentially in Shanghai, Hong Kong or other well connected places. It is very important to get stuck in to some extra curricular activities to get a better chance of meeting new people which I have done with football.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
My future advice would be to think about how you are going to spend your evenings in the week, and even the weekend, as having hobbies like football, learning the language, or in my case trying to learn some music production skills, because when you don’t have anything to do in the week once you get home around 6, it could prove to be a bit lonely and you may feel a bit homesick, which is normal.
Pros
  • Cultural differences
  • Independence
  • CV (showing you are willing to go and do something like this is valuable)
Cons
  • Losing all your habits and comfort foods that you may have at home and having to find new versions of everything.
  • May feel lonely at times which emphasises the need to get yourself out there and do activities.

Definitely recommend

I went to Thailand with the same agency the year before and I really enjoyed it so I decided to sign up for another year and went to China this time. I had an absolutely amazing time, and Shenzhen is a beautiful city. I speak Chinese a bit so I was able to make friends quickly and bond with the students. There were a few bumps in the road but Arnold was super helpful and supportive so I definitely recommend them. I'm no longer teaching with them because I found a new job in China and will stay here long term.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
When I went to Thailand I did a lot of research on culturele diffences but I forgot to do it for China so this did put me in an akward position once or twice. Always look up information about the culture even if you're an experienced traveler.
Pros
  • Housing support
  • Great school
  • Helpful coworkers
Cons
  • No airport pickup

Amazing Program - Very Reliable

I was determined to move to China, but due to the pandemic and ever-changing regulations, I had no idea where to even begin. Arnold makes the process so much easier by connecting us with hiring schools, helping with the interview process, and guiding us through the process of obtaining a visa and traveling to China. There are regular video calls with all the prospective teachers in the program (and at times teachers who are already in China) which helps tremendously by providing support. There are also workshops to prepare us to be better teachers. Now that I am here, I am absolutely loving life in China!

Pros
  • Frequent Video Calls and Individual Check-ins
  • Job Search Support
  • Very Transparent

Knows what they're doing

I applied to teach in China late in 2019, and then covid happened a mere three months or so later. The support I got from this recruiter's was helpful; this plus my company's support staff meant that I could collate news and help from different sources and I didn't feel like I was relying too much on one person or institution.

The application process was extensive and they provide help and advice every step of the way, especially from former teachers who have gone to China themselves and have returned after their contract ended. There's only so much online blogs could do and this personal touch helped alleviate any concerns I had with moving to China.

Pros
  • Step-by-step assistance
  • Online and offline support
  • Pre- and Post- arrival help

The best experience of my life

Having not had the best experience moving to China previously due to very little guidance and no social support, I was apprehensive about embarking on the same journey again.

However I can categorically say that TEIC made my experience unforgettable in all the right ways - we were instantly connected to a large group of teachers also making the move to China and Arnold was on-hand at all times to answer any questions. The meet-up in London prior to heading out and the summer-camp training in China before going to our cities was invaluable in terms of the teaching skills, experience and also the relationships I made with the other teachers. I made life-long friends from this programme and this gave me plenty of opportunities to travel in China with friends in different cities.

Cannot recommend this agency enough if you want to study in China!

Helpful and supportive throughout

TEIC were very helpful throughout this whole process. In spite of the constantly changing requirements due to the pandemic, Arnold was always available and willing to offer assistance and guidance whenever I had questions about the interview process, document legalization, visas, flights and so on. As well as the help he was personally able to offer, he also invited me to join several WeChat groups which provided valuable insight into the green code maze. He has continued to provide support now that I am in China. If you're thinking of teaching English in China, I thoroughly recommend using their services.

Pros
  • Support throughout the interview process
  • Help with paperwork and green codes
  • Zoom meetings with other teachers

Friendly, professional and reliable.

My China experience came out of nowhere. As I approached the end of University I wondered what to do next. The GoOverseas team gave me an opportunity I will never forget. The networking opportunities from then on has put me in contact with people all over China, giving me opportunities to explore, seek, travel and grow both professionally and personally.
Alongside the team’s connectivity and helpfulness comes a reassurance in these current times. Arnold has reached out regularly to ensure that I and other teachers are safe and well during these times. This has always been reassuring.

Pros
  • Professional networking
  • No day is the same
  • Memories for a lifetime
Cons
  • Missing home due to pandemic
  • China’s unpredictable COVID policy
