During my course I had requested support from the team and the response I received was incredibly kind and hugely supportive. It showed the company truly uphold good values and care about the students that take their course. I would recommend training with this company as they go over and above with their investment in students. The learning materials also challenge you to build your skills and prepare you for being equipped as an English language tutor. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The combined classroom practical helps give you confidence in your skills.

I really enjoyed taking this course! The flexibility to take it in my own time at my own pace was so beneficial to me as I was starting a new job - I also had to contact customer service a few times and I have always received prompt and efficient help regarding any issues!
The course is fun and logical to work through, and I took many many notes from it, it was extremely thorough and in depth, especially considering I hadn’t explored teaching before, it provides fantastic footing - I wish there was more personable contact, like classroom teaching - but otherwise thoroughly enjoyed!

The TEFL Academy is the only place to go to when doing your level 5 qualification. Good structure to the course with lots of support.
They have a excellent worldwide reputation. Unlike some other providers the support that The TEFL Academy provides is excellent.

There are 3 assignments which require a lot of work, this is good as you need to know your stuff if you want to get a good grade.

They provide great support after you finish the course if your looking for a job.

This TEFL was well designed. The topics were great and each unit had plenty of further reading. The course was challenging without being impossible and the material was interesting. The end of unit tests were well thought out and made you think about the unit completed. The course was good value for money and the option to extend your study time allows you to work around life. The teaching practise webinar was really beneifcial and allowed you to meet others in all stages of the course. Enjoyed!

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?

Be more consistent from the start. High Recommend.

I really enjoyed TEFL course. The structure was well designed and it included all relevant topics that are essential when teaching English to foreign students. The platform was very easy to follow and l liked the layout as it was clear. The most enjoyable part was the practical component as it allowed to put the theory into practice and the teacher explained everything in a greater detail, so whatever l was not while doing the course, during the practical all my questions and queries were answered.

What was your funniest moment?

During the Practical component the moment of actual teaching, teamwork and getting to know new people

The online Level 5 TEFL course is a great course- broad and thorough. It gives confidence in teaching- listening, reading, writing and speaking; lesson planning and how to produce classroom materials. There are reference sections at the end of each unit providing further reading. The end of unit tests are fun. Assignment feedback is constructive. Assignments are marked quickly. The online format works well. It´s clear and easy to use. It is flexible and easy to fit around other commitments. I would highly recommend it.

It's confusing to know which TEFL provider to go for but I would really recommend The TEFL Academy. I learnt so much and it's flexible because you can access the lessons in your own time. Assignments are challenging but really worthwhile because they simulate situations you will face once you're an EFL teacher. The course definitely helps you feel prepared for the classroom as each unit is very detailed and gives practical advice as well as the theory behind it. Overall very happy with the course and would recommend to anyone!

What would you improve about this program?

I would have enjoyed more of the interactive activities.

This was an enjoyable course. Being online, there was a lot of opportunity to link extra resources and materials, which The TEFL Academy did well and often. The course work was engaging and flexible. The staff was very quick to respond to tickets, and were especially kind in letting me pause the course when life circumstances forced me to delay studying in order to move house amidst fire concerns. The experience The TEFL Academy provided has given me a good foundation for me to develop in the real and virtual classroom.

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?

I would have prioritized my initial assignment in order to avoid having to pause my course.

Why did you choose this program?

I chose the level 5 TEFL combined programme because it offered a good solid course along with a 20-hour classroom practical course. That was definitely the thing that sealed the deal for me.

I had never taught ESL before in my life, let alone managed a class. However, in my previous employment, I worked my way up from a receptionist to sales administrator and eventually had to train new employees in to do my previous roles. I knew I could teach; the TEFL Academy helped with growing my confidence in TEFL.

What did your program provider (or university) assist you with, and what did you have to organize on your own?

My course provider helped us along the way with getting our TEFL course started and with any problems along the way. They do offer internships in host countries with jobs once it's completed. But we decided to sort employment here in Phnom Penh ourselves. We did enough research on working in Cambodia. We felt confident that we could gain employment. But knowing the TEFL Academy offered internships was a safety net, kind of.

What is one piece of advice you'd give to someone going on your program?

The one piece of advise, especially if you're new to teaching, is to take notes while you're doing your course. I have a whole refill pad full from my TEFL course and reference it from time to time. Be prepared for it to be difficult but so rewarding at the same time. What I would say to people thinking of moving abroad and working is: have confidence, be careful, research A LOT, take a leap of faith and enjoy the ride.

What does an average day/week look like as a participant of this program?

I'm not sure if I am what you would call an average person when it comes to taking a TEFL course. My boyfriend and I both worked full-time, 40+ hours a week while taking this course. So our average week would be work Monday to Friday. Wake up Saturday morning, head down to the kitchen, set up our laptops and get studying. Go to sleep, wake up Sunday to do it all over again. It was hard work and some weekends we didn't want to study, but luckily for us, we never had that problem on the same weekend; we always pushed each other to study when the other didn't want to.

Going into your experience abroad, what was your biggest fear, and how did you overcome it? How did your views on the issue change?

I had never moved out of Ireland before, so the whole thing was pretty new and scary for me. But my boyfriend had lived in Australia for 8 years. He was my rock, just full of the assurance that I could do it. My biggest fear was finding a job and an apartment. I knew once I had the two things I would be fine. Which I was. The biggest problem is that the person in your head causing self-doubt. Don't listen to them.

If you had the opportunity to do all over again, what would you change?

A thing I would have done different is, pack fewer clothes.

I don't wear half of what I brought. I brought pictures from home and stuck them straight up once we moved into our apartment, which settled me in straight away. Bring a lot of bandages, bug spray, cold and flu medicines. I have had some minor accidents while traveling. I burnt my leg off a motorbike exhaust 3 days into my holiday in Thailand - disaster. My boyfriend got carpet burn during our first Jiu-Jitsu class. We get sick almost every second week working with kids because they're constantly sick.

Just be prepared for everything :) and most importantly HAVE FUN!!

What is your favorite travel memory?

In 2016, I worked and lived in Disney World Florida. It was the most amazing experience to create magical memories for our guests and to experience living aboard. I grew a lot both personally and professionally during my time working for the Walt Disney Company. Their customer service standards are second to none.

How have you changed/grown since working for your current company?

I am a very new member of the team; I started 3 weeks ago. Since I began working with The TEFL Academy, I have gained confidence in speaking with others via phone. I have always loved to speak with people and assist them.

In my new role, I get to assist students daily through the course. It is great to engage with new people.

What is the best story you've heard from a return student?

A student contacted me to get a PDF copy of their certificate; they are currently working out in Japan and it was great to hear how much the student was enjoying this new experience. It is also great to hear the plans current students have for their future after they have successfully completed the course.

If you could go on any program that your company offers, which one would you choose and why?

I would love to do the volunteering in Sri Lanka. I think it would be an amazing experience to give back and meet new people. I have never been to Asia and it is somewhere I would love to experience. It would be great to get to know the people and culture whilst also aiding the local community in some way.

What makes your company unique? When were you especially proud of your team?

We are recognized in both the UK and the US. This gives more credibility to our qualifications and aids our students in their job search. The team is also very dedicated to ensuring our students receive fast, effective assistance when it is required. I am very proud of this and I believe our students are happy with the level of service they experience.

What do you believe to be the biggest factor in being a successful company?

There is a great team always ready to assist our students. The team is always on hand to provide support and assistance to our students for the duration of their course. The course content is also varied and gives our students a good insight into teaching English as a foreign language. We offer a free top-up course for every student as well, which I think is great.
