Excellent platform and accessible and thorough. Highly recommend this course which is presented in a topical, multifaceted and interactive way. Additional resources are offered and the support is second to none. The tests and assignments are well thought out and cover all areas. It is apparent that a great deal of thought has been taken in devising and delivering the material and the presentation and format is outstanding. I researched every platform but this course stood out in all aspects an I would highly recommend it.

I really enjoyed this course, the materials and lessons provided were helpful and interesting. The assignments were very practical and challenging and I received very detailed and helpful feedback to help me with following assignments in the course. I would highly recommend doing this TEFL course with TEFL academy, it’s a great addition to your resume and a great job to do while travelling the world. I’m excited to put my certificate to good use and see the world while teaching English around the world!

What was the most surprising thing you saw or did?

I didn’t realise how much work went into lesson planning, it’s a good insight

The TEFL Academy course is professional, thorough, supportive and very accessible. The material was current and easy to negotiate in an online format, and the support was positive, constructive and timeous. I found the presentation interesting, well laid out, understandable, and broken up into digestible chunks. The units were sequenced well, and the flow of the course is good. I would recommend it to anybody wanting to receive reliable and reputable training in their quest towards a vocation in teaching English to foreign students.

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?

I would spend more time engaging with the additional material offered in the course. I look forward to building on the knowledge I have already gained when I have more time.

This course was a lot of fun, and although I haven’t been able to complete the workshop (thanks to Covid-19!!) I still had a good time completing the assignments and learning new skills.
There is a good range of difficulty but obviously a lot of it depends on how much people know already in terms of grammar and word forms etc. Learning how to teach students is very informative and helpful and brings up things that you wouldn’t necessarily think about before.
Although I didn’t need to, contacting for any help/issues seems very straightforward.

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?

I would try and complete it faster! I left my last assignment quite late so wasn’t sure if I’d be done on time, but thankfully I was!

The course was simple to navigate through and easy to understand. It started off easy and gradually became more challenging which I enjoyed. The course taught me a lot about English and teaching in general. I'm very happy with this course. The tests were good and simple as well. The assignments were challenging and allowed me to work harder. I liked getting detailed feedback from the markers. I am glad I took this course as it was definitely worth the time and money. I would suggest this to anyone looking to get a TEFL course.

What would you improve about this program?

I believe I encountered some spelling and grammar errors, so I would just improve on that.

I found the content quite informative,and the assignments very challenging. I would have liked more teaching practice, however the extra reading options were nice to have. It gives you a chance to select specific sections that you may find useful. The fact that the material disappears straight away once the course is completed isn't ideal,as I would have liked to be able to go back over the course and spend more time learning and practicing more of the techniques suggested and go back over the end of section tests to refresh.

What would you improve about this program?

I would leave the material available after the course is completed

I am a Chinese Professor of Computer Science and I wanted to qualify as a TEFL teacher to give me an extra level of skill in teaching and mixed-nationality classes where English is often the common language but sometimes it is badly communicated. I now feel more qualified to help students to improve their communications in such cases. Although I have studied English for a long time I found the course to be more challenging that I thought it would be, but now I have completed it, I feel good about myself. I'm now glad that it was hard to do because now I know that anyone who is TEFL qualified by the The TEFL Academy has a good qualification.

What would you improve about this program?

I think that the course is satisfactory as it is and I have no suggestions to improve it.

I enjoyed learning about TEFL through the 168-hour online course. The material was comprehensive and covered all topics related to teaching in all kinds of environment. I also enjoyed the assignments. It was always very helpful to have the team available to answer any query at any time. The course provider also offers ongoing support in terms of job search, which i am looking forward to! Thank you very much, TEFL Academy! I am looking forward to embarking on another course so i can specialise further in this field soon.

I would keep the material available for access after course expiry date.

Why did you choose this program?

I chose the level 5 TEFL combined programme because it offered a good solid course along with a 20-hour classroom practical course. That was definitely the thing that sealed the deal for me.

I had never taught ESL before in my life, let alone managed a class. However, in my previous employment, I worked my way up from a receptionist to sales administrator and eventually had to train new employees in to do my previous roles. I knew I could teach; the TEFL Academy helped with growing my confidence in TEFL.

What did your program provider (or university) assist you with, and what did you have to organize on your own?

My course provider helped us along the way with getting our TEFL course started and with any problems along the way. They do offer internships in host countries with jobs once it's completed. But we decided to sort employment here in Phnom Penh ourselves. We did enough research on working in Cambodia. We felt confident that we could gain employment. But knowing the TEFL Academy offered internships was a safety net, kind of.

What is one piece of advice you'd give to someone going on your program?

The one piece of advise, especially if you're new to teaching, is to take notes while you're doing your course. I have a whole refill pad full from my TEFL course and reference it from time to time. Be prepared for it to be difficult but so rewarding at the same time. What I would say to people thinking of moving abroad and working is: have confidence, be careful, research A LOT, take a leap of faith and enjoy the ride.

What does an average day/week look like as a participant of this program?

I'm not sure if I am what you would call an average person when it comes to taking a TEFL course. My boyfriend and I both worked full-time, 40+ hours a week while taking this course. So our average week would be work Monday to Friday. Wake up Saturday morning, head down to the kitchen, set up our laptops and get studying. Go to sleep, wake up Sunday to do it all over again. It was hard work and some weekends we didn't want to study, but luckily for us, we never had that problem on the same weekend; we always pushed each other to study when the other didn't want to.

Going into your experience abroad, what was your biggest fear, and how did you overcome it? How did your views on the issue change?

I had never moved out of Ireland before, so the whole thing was pretty new and scary for me. But my boyfriend had lived in Australia for 8 years. He was my rock, just full of the assurance that I could do it. My biggest fear was finding a job and an apartment. I knew once I had the two things I would be fine. Which I was. The biggest problem is that the person in your head causing self-doubt. Don't listen to them.

If you had the opportunity to do all over again, what would you change?

A thing I would have done different is, pack fewer clothes.

I don't wear half of what I brought. I brought pictures from home and stuck them straight up once we moved into our apartment, which settled me in straight away. Bring a lot of bandages, bug spray, cold and flu medicines. I have had some minor accidents while traveling. I burnt my leg off a motorbike exhaust 3 days into my holiday in Thailand - disaster. My boyfriend got carpet burn during our first Jiu-Jitsu class. We get sick almost every second week working with kids because they're constantly sick.

Just be prepared for everything :) and most importantly HAVE FUN!!

What is your favorite travel memory?

In 2016, I worked and lived in Disney World Florida. It was the most amazing experience to create magical memories for our guests and to experience living aboard. I grew a lot both personally and professionally during my time working for the Walt Disney Company. Their customer service standards are second to none.

How have you changed/grown since working for your current company?

I am a very new member of the team; I started 3 weeks ago. Since I began working with The TEFL Academy, I have gained confidence in speaking with others via phone. I have always loved to speak with people and assist them.

In my new role, I get to assist students daily through the course. It is great to engage with new people.

What is the best story you've heard from a return student?

A student contacted me to get a PDF copy of their certificate; they are currently working out in Japan and it was great to hear how much the student was enjoying this new experience. It is also great to hear the plans current students have for their future after they have successfully completed the course.

If you could go on any program that your company offers, which one would you choose and why?

I would love to do the volunteering in Sri Lanka. I think it would be an amazing experience to give back and meet new people. I have never been to Asia and it is somewhere I would love to experience. It would be great to get to know the people and culture whilst also aiding the local community in some way.

What makes your company unique? When were you especially proud of your team?

We are recognized in both the UK and the US. This gives more credibility to our qualifications and aids our students in their job search. The team is also very dedicated to ensuring our students receive fast, effective assistance when it is required. I am very proud of this and I believe our students are happy with the level of service they experience.

What do you believe to be the biggest factor in being a successful company?

There is a great team always ready to assist our students. The team is always on hand to provide support and assistance to our students for the duration of their course. The course content is also varied and gives our students a good insight into teaching English as a foreign language. We offer a free top-up course for every student as well, which I think is great.
