This course exceeded my expectations. Well written and presented and easily accessed via an online portal. It was very thorough and deserving of the hours it took to undertake it properly. After all, we all want to be able to make a difference and do our very best for the people we go on to teach. The response to any online ticket was prompt and good to know there were humans at the other end to assist. The examiners were thorough and provided excellent feedback; by keeping standards high, it will ensure the TEFL Academy qualification continues to be highly respected in the marketplace.

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?

Make a proper plan, from the outset, for study time and stick to it. Found it really beneficial to have a quiet place where I could concentrate 100% on the course for several hours at a time.

The material was really well prepared. Everything was clear, transparent and easy to digest. The graphic layout was eye catching which added to the pleasantness of studying with the TEFL Academy. The slides contained relatively small chunks of information which made the w studying easier and more pleasant. I really appreciated the videos with instructions for the three assignments. I think that was really helpful. The feedback from the tutors was motivational fur further development. I really like the fact that I didn’t feel pressured but motivated and encouraged to keep working hard and give my best.

What was your funniest moment?

My course took place remotely thus it’s difficult for me to mention any funniest moments. But a fun and unique program experience, in my case, was connected to preparing all three written assignments. I really enjoyed going them since they gave me a gist of what it means to be a teacher.

I work as a primary teacher and I took this course to further develop my knowledge of teaching English as a second language. This course was really well structured, the feedback to each assignment was very detailed and I learned so many things from it. I highly recommend it to anyone who considers broadening their horizons. It allows you to work online from any place in the world, connect with students from everywhere around the world. This course is excellent for both people who want to make money by travelling and meeting new people.

I'm Ali Aldulimi, I started this course back in November 2020 and finished it in early march. I enjoyed this course because it was easy to use and extremely helpful. Assignments were quite tough and when I failed an attempt, I was given feedback on what was needed to pass. It feels good to have finally passed and I will hopefully be able to teach anywhere in the world.
I'd recommend this course as it's an ideal way to learn and easy to use. Especially for people who have no experience in teaching.

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?

Get better grades on my assignments. I only managed to pass each of my assignments. Maybe if I tried harder I would have got a merit.

I had a great experience with the tefl academy for my tefl level 5 course. It is regulated by qualifi. It had learning materials very easy to understand. And interactive exercises for practice. I would highly recommend this to especially those involved in teaching of English as a foreign language. And teaching to young learner's . This gave me a very good experience and helped a lot in my English teaching skills and techniques. It is specially recommended for those involved in professional English teaching.

What would you improve about this program?

No improvements to be made . I love the way it was offered.

I am an older learner and I thoroughly enjoyed doing this course. The online units are easy to navigate and I loved being able to do them at my own pace. It was a godsend during lockdown having something constructive to focus on. It's a very long time since I had to submit a piece of written work for assessment, and I have to say I found it very challenging. The written assignments took me much longer to complete than I expected but fortunately I was able to buy an extension. I have learned lots and can't wait to use my new skills.
My only negative about the course is the fact the 20hr classroom practice was not able to go ahead due to the Covid situation, but has been replaced by the 10hr webinar. Clearly this is not the fault of the TEFL Academy.

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?

I think I would organise my time better and be more disciplined so that I would not need to buy an extension.

I really enjoyed my lesson at TEFL Academy. First, I was took very lightly that with less money the course will be very easy, but it was very good in a challenging way. I learnt lots that I had taken for granted and managed to pass my assignment, it took a lot of nights to think of how to make plans and research and corrections. But having said that, I have come out a better teacher with good understanding of the topic.The tutor and admin support was good as they would get back to you with 3 working days and feedback on assignments was very easy to understand.

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?

If I did this again, I would give more time and genuine research and commitment every week, as I had left the assignments for too long thinking it will be very easy.
So that finish it with ease rather than rushing out.

I enjoyed my time during this course, the support was great and I learned a lot along the way. If you're wondering whether you will get support during the course, you will. Tutors and the admin staff are helpful, kind and will ensure they guide you in every way possible.
The feedback from the tutors are written in great detail, whether you pass the assignment or not you will receive the necessary input supporting you in your next attempts. I haven't tried other teaching courses so I can't comment on them, however, I would recommend this one.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?

Give it a go and try something different, you may be pleasantly surprised!

Why did you choose this program?

I chose the level 5 TEFL combined programme because it offered a good solid course along with a 20-hour classroom practical course. That was definitely the thing that sealed the deal for me.

I had never taught ESL before in my life, let alone managed a class. However, in my previous employment, I worked my way up from a receptionist to sales administrator and eventually had to train new employees in to do my previous roles. I knew I could teach; the TEFL Academy helped with growing my confidence in TEFL.

What did your program provider (or university) assist you with, and what did you have to organize on your own?

My course provider helped us along the way with getting our TEFL course started and with any problems along the way. They do offer internships in host countries with jobs once it's completed. But we decided to sort employment here in Phnom Penh ourselves. We did enough research on working in Cambodia. We felt confident that we could gain employment. But knowing the TEFL Academy offered internships was a safety net, kind of.

What is one piece of advice you'd give to someone going on your program?

The one piece of advise, especially if you're new to teaching, is to take notes while you're doing your course. I have a whole refill pad full from my TEFL course and reference it from time to time. Be prepared for it to be difficult but so rewarding at the same time. What I would say to people thinking of moving abroad and working is: have confidence, be careful, research A LOT, take a leap of faith and enjoy the ride.

What does an average day/week look like as a participant of this program?

I'm not sure if I am what you would call an average person when it comes to taking a TEFL course. My boyfriend and I both worked full-time, 40+ hours a week while taking this course. So our average week would be work Monday to Friday. Wake up Saturday morning, head down to the kitchen, set up our laptops and get studying. Go to sleep, wake up Sunday to do it all over again. It was hard work and some weekends we didn't want to study, but luckily for us, we never had that problem on the same weekend; we always pushed each other to study when the other didn't want to.

Going into your experience abroad, what was your biggest fear, and how did you overcome it? How did your views on the issue change?

I had never moved out of Ireland before, so the whole thing was pretty new and scary for me. But my boyfriend had lived in Australia for 8 years. He was my rock, just full of the assurance that I could do it. My biggest fear was finding a job and an apartment. I knew once I had the two things I would be fine. Which I was. The biggest problem is that the person in your head causing self-doubt. Don't listen to them.

If you had the opportunity to do all over again, what would you change?

A thing I would have done different is, pack fewer clothes.

I don't wear half of what I brought. I brought pictures from home and stuck them straight up once we moved into our apartment, which settled me in straight away. Bring a lot of bandages, bug spray, cold and flu medicines. I have had some minor accidents while traveling. I burnt my leg off a motorbike exhaust 3 days into my holiday in Thailand - disaster. My boyfriend got carpet burn during our first Jiu-Jitsu class. We get sick almost every second week working with kids because they're constantly sick.

Just be prepared for everything :) and most importantly HAVE FUN!!

What is your favorite travel memory?

In 2016, I worked and lived in Disney World Florida. It was the most amazing experience to create magical memories for our guests and to experience living aboard. I grew a lot both personally and professionally during my time working for the Walt Disney Company. Their customer service standards are second to none.

How have you changed/grown since working for your current company?

I am a very new member of the team; I started 3 weeks ago. Since I began working with The TEFL Academy, I have gained confidence in speaking with others via phone. I have always loved to speak with people and assist them.

In my new role, I get to assist students daily through the course. It is great to engage with new people.

What is the best story you've heard from a return student?

A student contacted me to get a PDF copy of their certificate; they are currently working out in Japan and it was great to hear how much the student was enjoying this new experience. It is also great to hear the plans current students have for their future after they have successfully completed the course.

If you could go on any program that your company offers, which one would you choose and why?

I would love to do the volunteering in Sri Lanka. I think it would be an amazing experience to give back and meet new people. I have never been to Asia and it is somewhere I would love to experience. It would be great to get to know the people and culture whilst also aiding the local community in some way.

What makes your company unique? When were you especially proud of your team?

We are recognized in both the UK and the US. This gives more credibility to our qualifications and aids our students in their job search. The team is also very dedicated to ensuring our students receive fast, effective assistance when it is required. I am very proud of this and I believe our students are happy with the level of service they experience.

What do you believe to be the biggest factor in being a successful company?

There is a great team always ready to assist our students. The team is always on hand to provide support and assistance to our students for the duration of their course. The course content is also varied and gives our students a good insight into teaching English as a foreign language. We offer a free top-up course for every student as well, which I think is great.
