I complete the Combined Level 5 TEFL course and for someone who knew nothing of teaching and everything in between, I learned so much and I am fully equipped to teach others now. All the teachings, support and further explanations was very well done and easy to grasp. I enjoyed doing this course! I would strongly recommend this course and or any other course that TEFL proves. Firstly the duration of the course is not so long which makes it motivating to complete and it is for anyone to do. The fact that you do not have to have any prior experience proofs that by completing TEFL courses, they really teach you everything you need to know to stand before a class, teaching but also managing it.

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?

In this case I would not let there be the option for students to do all their assignments at the end of the course. Yes the tutors did say they do not recommend it but it was still up to you. I did all my assignments at the end because I though if I just finish all the units first it would be 'easier'. At the end, the idea of having to finish 3 assignments after finishing all the units, was a bit overwhelming. I think it does depend on person to person and it doesn't have a big effect but I would now recommend doing each assignment with the unit.

What was your funniest moment?

The funniest part of the course for me was also during the classroom training! When we had to role-play as students and teachers, there were moments where things got unexpectedly hilarious. I remember one of my classmates “pretending” to be a completely uncooperative student, and their over-the-top antics had everyone in stitches. Even the tutor couldn’t keep a straight face! Despite the laughs, it was such a great way to learn, and it definitely broke the ice, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. It was the perfect mix of learning and having fun together.

More online teaching preparation

I am had an amazing experience, the learning materials was easy to use easy accessible, tutor support always on point and very helpful. I enjoyed this course a lot. The course was well structured , the videos in the course were also very helpful.everything was so straightforward, I had no difficulties in getting through the course. The recourse website that where given was a lifetime keeper, I had never imagined that studying tefl would be so easy , like a walk in the park. I will be recommend it to anyone anytime .

The lesson plan topic. It was totally new to me I got so many already qualified teachers involved in to help me .it was totally new to me. But I made it I can do it now

The content for the course was well designed, it was easy to read and to navigate through. The language was graded, where sometimes I did not need to ask for tutors support. The tutors responded very quickly to any questions. The content was both theoretical and practically. This created a fun learning experience. The content for the course catered for all types of learners i.e., visual, reading and writing, auditory and kinesthesis. Because I did the combined course, I undergone a classroom teaching practice, which was interesting and engaging. The teacher taught us a lot of tips on teaching English as a foreign language for different types groups i.e., young, teenagers and adults.

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?

The most nerve-racking moment was when I did my first assignment, I was very nerve as cannot understand what was required. I overcome the problem by asking the tutor to help me on how to navigate though the assignment. The tutor was very kind enough to give me hints and ideas to help pave my way though the my first assignment.

What is one piece of advice you'd give to someone going on your program?

The one piece of advice I would give is to plan ahead and to do your best. Worrying and stressing won't help you. The resources, as well as the markers, are there to assist and help you achieve your best. Planning ahead is beneficial as you do not want to get stuck with a pile of work and then have to ask for an extension. Just do your absolute best and you will reap the rewards.

What does an average day/week look like as a participant of this program?

The TEFL course spanned over a period of 6 months which gave me ample time to complete my course accordingly. Some units take more time than others to complete, but if you plan and stick to that plan, you will not have a problem. The TEFL site also makes it easy and exciting to learn so that you do not get bored or frustrated during your study session.

Going into your experience abroad, what was your biggest fear, and how did you overcome it? How did your views on the issue change?

I have no been abroad yet for TEFL teaching, but I am surely looking into it. I would love to travel to Asia, as I have been to India once and I absolutely loved it. I would like to visit Japan, South Korea, and China as a TEFL teacher and hopefully start my career there. I look forward to new experiences and challenges.

Any other tips for any prospective traveler?

India is a fantastic country, not quite like what I initially perceived it to be. The people are genuine and the country itself is a true wonder. My advice to anyone traveling there is to absorb as much as he/she/they can. India is rich with culture and history, full of diversity. Visiting places such as the Taj Mahal brings a totally different feeling, the atmosphere is spectacular. India is a beautiful country and so are its people.
