About Program
The legal intern must be passionate about human rights and willing to work with asylum seekers and refugees on a daily basis. A background in writing legal appeals and/or a degree or work experience in law is required. The legal intern works with overall assistance and advocacy for refugee and asylum seekers along with our paralegal advisors and lawyers. This includes filling out new-comer forms, interviewing clients, and writing appeal letters. The intern will also focus on research for the client during the appeal letter process.
Skills Needed:
-Experience or interest in law and legal work
-Strong communication and collaboration skills to interact with clients and other interns
-Capacity to multi-task and ability to prioritize across multiple projects and appeal letters
-Basic computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Word & Excel)
-Ability to work in a team environment
-Strong organisational skills
-Experience working or studying abroad a plus
