About Program
This experience is focused on students of medicine, nursing or pharmacy and already qualified in these areas in which they will be able to help in the hospital in the refugee camp. The name of the hospital is Jikwel Health Centre. Volunteers will assist center staff with assistance and support and tasks will be assigned based on experience and knowledge. We offer this experience throughout the year. They mainly need general practitioners, gynecologists, ophthalmologists and psychologists.
Patients are usually drug addicts, illiterate, poor people, mothers adolescents, pregnant women and patients with sickle cell anemia. The most common diseases are malaria, typhoid fever, HIV, cellulitis, anemia, sickle cell disease, hypertension, diabetes and gastroenteritis. The most common injuries are assaults and car accidents.
In addition, we also collaborate with Harmony Disability Centre; a teaching center for disabled children.
