Bangkaru island is amazing, we were usually found lizard around the yard in the morning, he is very cute. And sometimes, we can waited some coconuts under the tree, that is freshest. One night, we crossed the jungle arrived other seaside, turtle at there, very big turtle on shore to lay the egg. And many beautiful stars in the sky, many glowworm in the jungle. There is really a very nice place of sea and jungle.

My husband and I wanted an experience with our children that was meaningful and fun. We chose the IVHQ program in Simeulue, Indonesia because of the focus on supporting local communities in the areas of social enterprise, environment, education and conservation. The tropical climate, white sand beaches, surf breaks and natural beauty of the island made it a very special destination. Our volunteer program was well considered and diverse, which meant our children were super engaged with the experience. This volunteer program was a truly unique experience for our family. Our kids, 5 and 7 years old were engaged in a variety of activities alongside the local children which meant that they were contributing to the community in a valuable way whilst having loads of fun. From beach clean-ups, to English lessons, and conservation education, as a family we participated in very well organised volunteer activities. What is so unique about this programme is the balance between work, and play. The stunning beach setting and authentic accommodation made it an amazing destination.
