About Program

South Africa is all cosmopolitan, rich traditional culture with the diverse mix of other cultures. It also has a most diverse landscape including plateaus, mountain ranges and the sea. We collaborate with a local partner organization that seeks to empower the youth and communities through their Drop-in centers to address critical issues affecting children in rural areas.

Volunteer opportunities include getting involved with the local bakery, teaching youth at different local schools, providing photography or entrepreneurship workshops, and helping with opportunities in agriculture, health and nutrition, and community involvement.

We are focused on leveraging your skills. If you have an idea for a workshop or another way to support this organization, Do Good as You Go will work with you to make this possible!

Once in a Lifetime Opportunity

This opportunity has been one that will have a lasting impact on me for life, and was such a profound and rewarding experience. This program is very organised and well-planned. I felt safe at all times, and always had support from the organisers and the other volunteers. It was a very positive environment. I felt like we all became a family, and it was so nice to meet people from all over the world. Volunteering with the children was the most rewarding experience. I was able to bond with them and form friendships with them. It felt good knowing that I was able to make a difference in their lives. I felt like I was able to interact and form relationships with many members of the community, and I was also able to learn a lot about their culture. This opportunity was so valuable and has given me knowledge that only can be learned through an experience such as this.

What would you improve about this program?
I would have liked to get even more time interacting with the kids and their families. We got to spend time with the children at the school and at after school sports programs, but never really got to meet their families.
