Sustainability

At INTRO our commitment to a sustainable future is a key principle, and the driving force behind our Small Change initiative, which we launched in 2017.

As part of our goal to make a real positive impact to the environment, we partnered with Eden Reforestation Projects in 2019 to plant 10 trees for every booking we received. And as a result we’ve planted tens of thousands of trees, aided reforestation, rehabilitated wildlife and reduced poverty in multiple local communities.

However we wanted to go even further and achieve true sustainability, so in late 2023 we began a new partnership with Path Net Zero to accurately measure our tours emissions, and Veritree to plant trees to offset those emissions.

We are now very proud to say that every INTRO tour is 100% carbon neutral.

Getting to experience a new country, only dealing with the enjoyable parts and not having to worry about organising anything was perfect! V made me feel so comfortable, safe and everything went so smooth during the tour. We all spent so much time all laughing together. Seeing the waterfalls and swimming with turtles was magic but the small moments like the bus journeys filled with laughter, the family dinners and splashing in the pool were all fantastic and made this trip even more special. I’ll never forget the magic of this trip

A monkey stealing Pringles from us at the pool!!!

I booked the 9 day Bali intro tour and it was absolutely amazing! From start to finish I couldn’t have asked for anything more. My tour guide was Violetta (V) and she truly went above and beyond to make sure we were always okay, happy and safe. I made so many incredible memories and ticked off bucket list moments such as swimming with the turtles! Everything runs so smoothly on the intro tour and I am so incredibly happy that I was able to do this! Thank you intro but most of all thank you soooo much V🤍🫶🏼🏄🏻‍♀️🐢✨

The amount of times I fell off the surfboard whilst learning to surf!

I’ve done a few Intro tours, and I think this just might be my favourite. The great mix of culture, fun activities, and nightlife was perfect. Our leader Courtney, was the BEST. She was on top of everything throughout the tour, answered any questions you had and was so great at mixing with everyone from the group. Her passion for Bali showed and made a big difference. She was hilarious and made my final trip epic! I never had to worry about anything - I could relax and enjoy everything Bali had to offer!

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?

I was quite nervous about the surfing but everyone in the group encouraged each other and it was such a laugh

I had the most amazing time on the 12 day Bali intro tour with the best leader Courtney ❤️ The whole experience was extremely well organised and there was a good balance between cultural activities, nights out and chill time. Courtney was fab - she kept everyone on track, was so knowledgeable and made sure we all had a fun time. Would 100% recommend especially for anyone travelling solo. Our group was a mixed age range which was great and everyone was comfortable spending time as a group or doing their own thing when they wanted. Amazing experience ✨✨✨

Did the fantastic 12 day Bali Intro tour led by the amazing Courtney. The whole trip was incredible with my two main highlights being snorkelling with turtles and an unforgettable pub crawl. Loved the whole trip and was so lucky to have such a brilliant group leader in Courtney, who always made sure we were safe and having a great time! I could not recommend this trip more, and Intro in general. I did the Thailand Intro last year and it was equally as great. I’ll likely be doing the Philippines later this year too!

I just finished the tour and it was a blast. Well balanced itinerary, great locations and my leader Courtney was the best. Thanks again for everything and a shout out to Courtney for making this trip special and memorable 🤍 I especially enjoyed the home visit with the lovely Balinese family which is something very unique to this trip. Also the scuba diving in Gili T is not to be missed, it was one of the coolest things I have ever done! Value for money is also really good; you will not regret travelling with intro.

What was the most unfamiliar thing you ate?

Snakefruit. So yummy

My experience on the Bali intro 12 day tour was exactly what I wanted, from the write up of the day to-to-day interary excited me enough to spend my hard earned cash and jump onboard, little did I know exactly how great this tour would be.

From surfing, sunsets and beach clubs to learning Bahasa, temple tours and creating Canag Sari in Canggu to snorkeling the Gili meno statues, karaoke, bicycle riding and bar crawls in Gili T. Villa life, rice paddies, waterfalls and the incredible people of Lovina to the ultra chilled, bohemian and spiritual vibes of Ubud which included a once in a life time trek up Mount Batur and the cheeky monkeys of the city there's a variety of activities to get you living the island life of Bali.

My group and tour leader Courtney Harvey was 1010.
Courtney is so personable, chill and a top tier organised bestie - her service and enthusiasm for Bali, the tour and intro travel is second to non.

My group was a dynamic bunch of amazing people I will treasure and keep in touch with for a long time to come as well as Courtney. The group consisted of a mixed age range from 18-46 but, don't let that put you off you're surrounded by like minded people throughout and create amazing bonds within days.

I highly recommend intro travel and the tours they have to offer, it was bitter sweet to depart from the tour but it is not a goodbye it is a see you later ✨

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?

Go solo, you form a bond with everyone on the tour practically straight away. If you go in a group you might close yourself off from creating connections with everyone on the tour

Just completed the Bali 12-day intro and had an amazing time.

Courtney was our guide and she was lovely, fun, informative,e and always looked out for everyone making sure they were having a good time. I loved the whole trip but my favorites were surfing and the outdoor cinema on the beach experience!

I would definitely recommend this experience :)

Why did you choose this program?

Ever since visiting Thailand in 2020 (right before the lockdown), I became fascinated with what Southeast Asia has to offer. The traditions, amazing views, and the warmth of the people are things I always remember fondly, so it was just a matter of time until I returned. The opportunity came quickly: two friends and I were coming back from a ski trip one late evening when the topic of this year’s vacation came up, and in just one minute, we collectively decided on Bali.

What did your program provider (or university) assist you with, and what did you have to organize on your own?

The tour included accommodations: a hotel in Canggu, a private villa in Lovina, twin rooms in Gili Trawangan and Ubud, transport mainly by van between locations and boat rides, and some meals, primarily breakfast. I only needed to purchase the flight and set aside some pocket money for snacks, drinks, and extra activities.

What is one piece of advice you'd give to someone going on your program?

Don’t hold back! Take it all in and go all out. Strike up conversations with your fellow travelers, enjoy karaoke in the van while on the road, and share your funniest stories. Savor the local food, dance when your favorite song comes on, or better yet, sing it! Explore during your free time: for example, I ran from the hotel in Canggu to Tanah Lot Temple, which we visited the next day, and did two laps around the island while in Gili Trawangan.

What does an average day/week look like as a participant of this program?

A typical day starts with breakfast, which may or may not include hangover from last night’s party. The group leader arrives, does a quick headcount, and announces our scheduled activity for the day. During this time, the group is mostly quiet, with only small talk present. After the first activity, the group’s energy rises during lunch, where jokes can be heard all around. The second activity brings joy to everyone, as each person gives their best to have fun or excel. By dinner, spirits are high— and not just the ones in the glasses—and reflections on the day’s funniest moments are shared aloud for all to enjoy.

Going into your experience abroad, what was your biggest fear, and how did you overcome it? How did your views on the issue change?

For me personally, I have a fear of deep water and I'm not a strong swimmer, so surfing and snorkeling felt like challenges I had to overcome. Surprisingly, surfing went much better than I expected; I enjoyed it so much that I didn't want to take a break. Snorkeling was another pleasant surprise. Last year, I couldn’t stay in the water for long, but this time I completed the whole activity thanks to my friends, who made sure I was okay—checking that my mask was properly fitted and keeping an eye on me. I’m truly grateful for their support.

What is your favorite travel memory?

This is a hard question as there are so many different ones. I have to go with the trip I had last year to Cambodia.

I was only going as a bit of an add onto had no expectations of it. By the end of my trip, I fell in love with the place. The culture, the history, and the beaches...it was just an amazing place and I can not wait to return again in the future.

How have you changed/grown since working for your current company?

I have only been working for the company a short time but in that time I have learnt a great deal.

I have learnt so much about Australia and many other countries which I didn't know before so my knowledge has increased massively. I have become a lot more confident in public speaking and talking about travel opportunities with people.

What is the best story you've heard from a return student?

I have not yet had a story told to me yet as they are all still out and traveling. However, I know from before they left after the group that they were super excited to be traveling with the new people they had just met, as well as making new friends along the way. People always go off and have amazing experiences and I can't wait to hear all the wonderful things everyone has been up to.

If you could go on any program that your company offers, which one would you choose and why?

I would choose Japan. I have been on many of the INTRO tours and when Japan came out, I wasn't too fussed on it. I have no idea why, because since learning about the country and the things it has to offer, I am itching to go. There is so much culture which would be amazing to see, and who doesn't want to learn to use a samurai sword?

What makes your company unique? When were you especially proud of your team?

The company is just so unique in itself. I mean, what company has weekly ping pong competitions? It's a super chill place to work, which is what I like about it too.

I am always proud of the group of people I work with. Everyone works really hard and it really does show. Every day everyone is learning and that makes everyone proud - when people are learning and picking up new skills and just generally bettering themselves.

What do you believe to be the biggest factor in being a successful company?

Honestly, the biggest factor is being happy and enjoying work. If everyone is passionate about the company, then that is the key for it to be successful. If you weren't happy within the company, it will bring others down and that isn't going to help in any way.

Passion is the biggest factor; if you're passionate, you will naturally work harder, which leads to more success.
