  • You must be aged 18+
  • You must be either a full-time degree level student or a recent graduate who will start their UK internship within 24 months of the date on your graduation certificate
  • If English isn’t your native language, you’ll need to show a SELT (Secure English Language Test) certificate equal or above of a B2, or IELTS score of 5.5
  • You must not have interned at your host company before. (We can sponsor you twice, but it must be at different UK companies and not exceed 12 months over both internships)
  • You must have travel insurance that includes a minimum of USD $100,000 medical cover and repatriation of mortal remains

I owe a lot to the BUNAC program. I had always wanted to work in Venture Capital, and when I found the opportunity to intern for 6 months with one of London's best early stage venture capital firms, Seedcamp, I jumped at the opportunity. The only issue was the visa process - the firm I wanted to work with had never sponsored a visa before and were unsure if they could.

Luckily, I found the team at BUNAC - and they quite literally saved the day. They helped me with my applications, paperwork, best practices and made the process a breeze.

They made sure I was ready with everything I needed (housing, insurance, bank accounts, medical needs) in order to hit the ground running at my internship.

Without the BUNAC program, I never would have made it to London, or gotten a chance to kick start my career at Seedcamp and furthermore receive my job offer from another venture capital firm following my internship.

The BUNAC team made sure I felt like I was at home in London, they even brought me this surprise goody bag on Thanksgiving filled with all kinds of stuff I would be missing.

I highly recommend going with the BUNAC program for anyone that has an interest in landing an internship in the UK - it was an absolutely amazing experience.

What would you improve about this program?
I would have liked a meetup with the other interns.

I just wish the program lasted longer.

BUNAC: Intern In Britain -- Go!

After studying abroad through my university, I knew I wanted to return to London as more than a tourist, but the options are limited (besides attempting to marry into British royalty, of course).

BUNAC provides the perfect opportunity for anyone wanting to experience living and interning in the UK, and once I found them, it wasn't too long before I was back on UK soil.

Although you have to find your own internship, BUNAC offers plenty of advice and can point you to resources to help. Once I had found mine, they were incredibly quick about turning my paperwork around and giving me the tools to apply for my visa.

During my time with BUNAC, I interned for a start-up company in London and was able to have some real influence on how the company worked. Now, the company is thriving and has gone from one small office to three larger ones and is becoming a well-known name across the UK. To say that I was a part of it has been a huge achievement and great point of discussion for future job interviews.

While I was with BUNAC, I was informed regularly about events and outings for BUNAC interns. They give you plenty of freedom: you find your internship, decide where you want to live, etc, but I also found they were always responsive and active in your experience if you needed guidance.

I would recommend BUNAC: Intern in Britain to anyone wanting a more immersive experience in the UK than just a few weeks as a tourist, or for those who have studied abroad in the UK and are looking for a way to return and intern.

I would be interested in this internship for the summer. How many months in advance should I apply?

Hi! Thank you for your interest in our Intern in Britain program. You are able to apply up to 3 months before you wish to depart for the UK. The application process can take up to 8 weeks so we always suggest applying with us once you have an internship secured!

What is the age limit for the internship? Can high school students apply?

The age limit is 18 I think. The students must have completed at least one semester of college so high school students cannot apply for this visa.

What are the costs of the internship?

Participants will also need to purchase their visa (£230, paid direct to the UK Government), insurance and their flight to/from the UK.

Gouri! Introduce yourself to the world.

My name is Gouri Joshi. I’m BUNAC’s intern in Britain Co-ordinator, and I’ve been at this wonderful company for over a year now.

I’m an easy-going person, and my favorite thing to do is spend time with my family and friends, seeing attractions and new places, and eating great food!

Where have you traveled to?

Lots of places! My travel highlights so far include Paris, Switzerland, and Italy – they’re surrounded by such natural beauty it’s hard not to feel at peace.

Next on my to-do list is Greece, because I find the culture fascinating and I enjoy learning about Greek culture. My colleague Marisa, whose family is from Greece, always gives me new Greek recipes to try and tips on which Greek islands to visit.

Tell us about your background – where are you from and where are you now?

My hometown is Kolhapur, India, but I grew up in Pune which is a city full of multi cultural people. It’s known as the land of education, because a lot of good institutes and universities are based there.

I’ve lived in London for almost seven years – it has always attracted me because of the amazing job opportunities and of course the lifestyle – I love British culture.

What do you do in your day to day role at BUNAC?

As a BUNAC Coordinator, I deal with partners of the Intern in Britain team as well as talking with many employers who will be sponsoring internships for young students.

My job is great because I get to visit new people embarking on a new life experience, as well as gain an inside perspective of how a variety of different companies work. Each day is different.

Most of all, I enjoy talking to customers and helping them through their journey from the moment they start their Intern in Britain application to when they arrive in the UK to start their internship!

What BUNAC program would you go on?

The Work New Zealand IEP program; it’s a unique program only offered by BUNAC. In a nutshell, it allows people between the ages of 18-35 who may have already had a working holiday to work and travel there for up to 12 months. I’ve never been to New Zealand and I find Kiwi’s very interesting (the people, not the fruit).

Where are you desperate to travel to next?

Definitely America! It’s one of the world’s biggest and diverse countries. I just want to go all around the whole continent actually, North America and South America. I want to explore everywhere I can, especially Los Angeles!

What do you love most about Intern in Britain?

I like visiting new companies headquarters and meeting new people. It’s great to go into to a new office and learn how a company works, and it’s pretty rare as well to be able to do that in other job roles.

I enjoy understanding the role of the intern in their company and learning more about the different industries that they can intern in.

What makes BUNAC a successful travel company?

We are customer obsessed. My priority every day is to make sure the customer is happy. I’m very proud of BUNAC’s commitment to service; we complete the process of the customer’s journey in time and work our hardest to make sure they are happy and satisfied. That’s the most important thing.

Last but not least. Why is traveling abroad your bread and butter?

Visiting new places and becoming immersed in their culture improves your knowledge and it makes you feel happier as a person. Traveling is so therapeutic, and it gives you such positive energy which makes you stronger as a person.
