About Program

Find your balance in our structured small-group classes. Two lessons each day for two or three days a week give students spare time to study and take on other activities. Encouraging interaction and unrelenting progress, our beginner level courses mainly focus on practical Chinese speaking and listening, phonetics and characters. On the other hand, a higher level of classes tackles a higher level of content.

Join our group lessons to make new friends from all over the world and join our extracurricular activities, which include cooking classes, mountain hiking, cultural trips, and so on! Not only you'll be immersed in Mandarin Chinese: you'll get in touch with Chinese culture!

Semester dates for small group class: (fresh beginners only)
February, April, June, September, November, 2025.

Non-beginners can join any weekday except holidays if there is a group of similar level.

Excellent school and community

I've been studying at XMandarin in Qingdao for a few weeks now and I'm very satisfied. The school is conveniently located in the city center, with a subway station nearby, so it's easy to get to. Inside, there's a pleasant atmosphere and everything necessary for comfortable classes

My teacher is Jesse. She is very attentive, patient, and genuinely interested in the student achieving results. From the very first lesson, she understood my level and goals, and selected suitable materials. If something isn't working, she explains it in different ways until it becomes clear. The lessons include a lot of conversational practice, while also covering grammar and character writing

Immersive and Fun Chinese Group Classes Abroad!

Taking group Chinese classes here was one of the best decisions I made while studying abroad! The teachers are patient, knowledgeable, and make learning fun. Classes are interactive, with plenty of group activities that really boost speaking confidence. I improved my pronunciation, vocabulary, and grammar faster than I expected. The supportive environment and extra resources made learning smooth and enjoyable. Highly recommend for anyone wanting an immersive Chinese learning experience abroad!

Good experience

Very nice language school, where you immerse yourself into culture.
I’m happy for choosing XMandarin, place where you meet many interesting, open-minded people. Management staff is very supportive and with you through all your journey. Classes are enjoyable and practical. I enjoy learning Chinese here and can see a progress. I choose facilities in Qingdao, which is a beautiful city, where mountains meets the sea. You will find many fun activities and opportunities to practice Chinese. It’s a lifetime experience.

XMandarin school

A really nice school, with very kind and helpful people. I enjoyed my time staying there. I also went on fun events and enjoyed them. I got connected to fun people and made new friends to hang out with or meet up for different fun activities.
The city is very nice to explore with lots of exciting places to visit. The beaches are beautiful and it's a very convenient city to live in. There's big malls with lots of new stores to explore. And many delicious restaurants.

I really enjoyed studying and being here.

Chengdu XMandarin

Just over a month in to learning at XMandarin and I have 0 complaints.

All the teachers and staff members have been very supportive, helpful and understanding. The classes are concise, fun and great at building Mandarin knowledge rapidly. The sense of community is also great. During breaks and after class, everyone gathers around and has great conversations. The teacher leading our class has great English, a playful sense of humour and understands how to teach a class well. If anyone is considering learning Mandarin in Chengdu, I would not look past XMandarin!

If you actually want to learn Chinese, go to XMandarin

I came to XMandarin Qingdao super scared and very unconfident. Before I even started lessons I was assisted with accommodation, my VISA, and how to order Chinese dumplings (because when I got off he plane I was very hungry.)

Now I feel like I was given the best tools from native teachers to converse comfortably!

I felt like my success was actually supported and even though I was in a class with other people, the lessons still felt like private lessons because the dynamic in the class was very open and welcoming.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Don’t let other people (who have never been to China) tell you what China is like. Go experience it for yourself and keep an open mind! I have been surprised (positively) in so many ways.
Pros
  • Friendly staff and people
  • Native teachers
  • Beautiful location

My experience with the visa program

I came to China through the visa program with XMandarin, and overall, the process was pretty smooth. They helped me get all the documents I needed ahead of time, like the internship invitation letter and guidance on what to submit to the Chinese embassy. It definitely made things less stressful, especially since it was my first time dealing with a Chinese visa. What I appreciated most was how responsive the staff were. Anytime I had questions (and I had a lot), they replied quickly and walked me through everything step by step. It’s not a 100% hand-holding experience you still have to go to your local Chinese consulate and sort things on your end but they give you the materials and direction to make sure it all works out. Once I arrived in China, they also helped with the residence registration and explained how to stay compliant with local regulations. That part was really helpful because it can be confusing at first.

Group Courses in Qingdao

I joined the group classes at XMandarin a few months ago, and it’s been a really good experience so far. The class size is small, which means we all get enough attention from the teacher. She’s very patient and explains things clearly. Even though Chinese is not easy, the way they teach makes it feel manageable — and even enjoyable. What I like most is the friendly atmosphere. The staff and teachers are welcoming, and the group has a nice mix of people from different backgrounds. It’s a supportive environment where no one feels embarrassed to make mistakes. I also appreciate the structure of the course. There’s a clear progression, but it doesn’t feel rushed. The pace works well, especially if you're balancing other things in life.
