Charming and Insightful

It provides us with an authentic oriental experience with programs that allow us to truly immerse into the culture and history of Egypt. The professors and staff are encouraging and provide a unique perspective from what we were used to. Visiting AUC will allow you to widen in your perspective and understand of history, social issues, and politics. Everyone is friendly and it is a safe institution to discuss your ideas freely and to gain diverse insights. The campus is really beautiful and there aren't that many universities with such a beautiful campus.

One of a kind multicultural experience

When I decided to do an exchange semester in AUC I had no idea how much fun I would have and how many wonderful people I would met. From the moment I arrived in Egypt I've been loving everything single moment and I want to point out how kind egyptian people have been to me. AUC is a great institution that has helped in everything I needed and most of all helped meet so many people from many different cultures.

I created a wonderful bound with AUC and Egypt and I will cherish this semester forever.

What was your funniest moment?
Hitching with random people around Egypt. I used crutches for 1 month here and 3 different people offered me rides.

AMAZING TRIP !

This semester at AUC was an opportunity to meet a great community, experience a dynamic American education with a tailored curriculum! I recommend this program with my eyes closed! The pedagogical support was present with a particular focus on mental health, necessary in these uncertain times. In addition, our safety was more than assured.

I didn't expect to have so many different teachers in their way of thinking and teaching, a real bonus for me coming from Europe! an enriching program that I recommend for its cultural dimension.

Gateway to a Brighter Future

Unfortunately, the experience cannot be put into few lines of text, from the moment I arrived to Egypt, I feel nothing but amazed at and by everything. The University's architecture (design), gardens, people, instructors, activities, and so on, are all beyond what I expected, in a good way. The best thing I have experienced is diversity, I have met many Egyptians who are all nice and welcoming, and other internationals from all over the world which sparked the beginning of many friendships, and conversations about many interesting topics, such as culture, languages, politics, ideas, people, way of living, and so on. Many of us, have changed their future plans for the better because of these friendships and information exchange about other countries and cultures. All in all, totally recommend it.

The professors have a passion when teaching. They help you get the best out of yourself. Besides, Social gatherings help to socialize and make friends. I am loving every moment at this university. Moreover, the laboratories for STEM students possesses enough equipments need to do practice. I highly recommend this university.

Exchange Semester for Master’s Program

I spent an exchange semester at AUC as part of my master’s program. I was particularly impressed with the courses that I took in the refugee studies program. The courses were highly engaging and professors encouraged active student participation. I particularly appreciated this as students came from a diversity of academic and professional backgrounds, enriching the class discussions. The professors were also accessible and willing to meet outside of class to discuss the topics covered. For anyone interested in migration or refugee studies, I highly recommend an exchange semester at AUC!

one of the best experience

this is one of the best experiences that I had. I knew a lot of new friends, spend a really good time at the university. go outside and discover new places.
my advice to all people is just to try to know more people especially Egyptian friends to know more about the country and the places and also know more about the language and so on. and actually they are very helpful.
and also I knew more international students and knew more about each country and had friends all over the world because of the diversity in the uni.

What was your funniest moment?
attending the events and chilling with friends. for example, in this semester, the Halloween event.

Graduate Studies: Educational Leadership Program

I was very nervous to go back to university to do my Master's degree but I knew I wanted to study at AUC and applied to the GSE (formerly the Graduate School of Education now HUSS) program and was accepted. I wanted to choose a program that was suited to my personality, career goals, and academic interests so I after a lot of research I knew the graduate program at AUC was the perfect fit. While I have traveled extensively, this was my first time studying abroad and I am glad I took the leap! AUC is an incredible institution and I have met professors and peers that have helped me grow as an academic and as a person.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Go for it! Egypt, Cairo, and AUC are incredible experiences!

Study abroad at the American University in Cairo

I lived all my live in Saudi Arabia and I have heard a lot about the American University in Cairo. in fact I heard about a lot of good and fun experiences, most of cousins went there so it was kind of my dream university and when I got accepted, it's was one of the most amazing experiences ever first there is first year program; you get to tour all the campus and make amazing and fun activities.

and when it comes to learning it's a liberal art University so you get to learn about your major and some other branches outside of your major. AUC is a community of itself, the people are very friendly and helpful I do feel like it's my second home.

the academics are really fun and knowledgeable, you will learn a lot and everything is provided regarding books, printing and food. there's lounges everywhere, the library is huge you can study in it and there's rooms and quiet places.

overall I do recommend AUC it's a whole package and I'm sure everyone coming from abroad will not regret it

What was your funniest moment?
what's funny about AUC is that you feel like you know everybody and while you walk in campus you say hi to everyone you shared a class with

Amazing times! Academically challenging, but sooo rewarding

I came to AUC as an exchange student without ever having travelled to Egypt before and let me tell you, it is an amazing experience! The campus is gorgeous - the gardens, the architecture, it all has its very own charm. The staff at AUC is very helpful and friendly - whenever I faced a small inconvenience, I was helped right away. This is just as true for Egyptians outside of AUC!
Studying at AUC means hard work, but the input you get from your professors and fellow students is definitely worth it. Academically, the university has a lot to offer but it also organizes tons of free events for you to enjoy your time on campus as well. I really appreciate the effort AUC puts into the well-being of its students.
If you are hesitating to come to Egypt - really don't! It is a beautiful country, with extremely friendly people, crazy adventures and stunning destinations. You will never get bored, trust me. Do try to get out of campus and Cairo in your leisure time and enjoy the variety that Egypt has to offer.
I am having an amazing time here and would come back in a heartbeat!

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
If you are coming in the winter months, do bring warm clothes with you! I, as a European who is experienced in cold winters, did not think it would get super cold but really, it does! While it's super hot in the summer, the winter here is indeed quite chilly too. A thick jacket, pullovers and a scarf are a must-bring.
