CEA CAPA abroad in Prague

My experience in Prague was amazing! I traveled a total of 8 other countries and learned so much about the world around me. I gained so much knowledge of how to travel and live on my own in a different country. As a STEM student, taking Calculus 3 and my humanities, I was able to handle both school and traveling on the weekends which was most important to me. CEA CAPA had amazing employees, that were very kind and helpful. At any point I needed aid or any type of recommendations, the staff was available. I created great relationships with my teachers and other students! Overall, I had an amazing experience thanks to CEA CAPA!

Pros
  • Central Europe
  • Affordable
  • Great Staff
What other participants should know
  • No AC
  • No dryer
  • Some cancelled group activities through the program

I Had a Great Time

I had so much fun going to Prague for the summer. The city was beautiful and had a lot of things to do. The staff were very knowledgeable and helpful, suggesting places to go and explaining some cultural differences. The apartments were fairly nice, but it was a huge adjustment to have no clothes dryer or air conditioning. The location of the apartment was very good, with lots of nearby places to eat and shop as well as not too far from where classes are held. One thing I really enjoyed was how easy it is to travel around Europe. It was easy to plan a weekend trip to another country. Plus, the program organized some trips to different cities in Czechia which were a lot of fun.

Pros
  • Be immersed in a different culture
  • Try new things and explore
  • Further you academics
What other participants should know
  • Big adjustment

Studying in Prague was the best 8 weeks of my life!!

I would definitely recommend studying in Prague to anyone. I chose Prague because it's not as common of a destination for Americans to travel to. I wanted to branch out and go to a new city in a different part of Europe and it was so amazing! I was able to travel to countries that I wouldn't normally think of going to, like Austria, and I'm so glad I did this. Prague is also a beautiful city and has so much to do. Some of my favorite activities were going on paddle boats on the river, watching the sunset at a park/beer garden, trying out new cafes/restaurants, and exploring the history of the city! I also met so many amazing people from all over the world, and it was genuinely the best 8 weeks of my life!

Pros
  • Easy travel on the weekends to nearby cities
  • So many activities to do in the city
  • Lots of history to learn about
What other participants should know
  • Felt unsafe at times at night

International Business in Barcelona

I LOVED studying abroad in Barcelona with CEA CAPA! The courses were very educational, and the professors were amazing. I had the opportunity to take classes that applied to my major and my minor at my home institution, and the real-world experience was wonderful. The staff was incredibly supportive, and everyone was thorough and responsive in answering students' questions. I stayed in an apartment with CEA CAPA, and the living situation was also great. If you have the opportunity to study abroad with CEA CAPA, you should. This program was the best one I could have chosen!

Response from CEA CAPA Education Abroad

CEA DUBLIN WAS AMAZING!

CEA Dublin was my first study abroad trip and it was amazing! I participated in the 4-week summer program and I thought that it was the perfect amount of time. The staff and professors were amazing and did an excellent job at making you feel welcome and cared about. I took the Popular Culture in Ireland course and it made me better appreciate and understand Ireland's culture and history. The side trips we went on were amazing and a great way to explore more of what Ireland had to offer. Overall, my experience was a 10/10.

Pros
  • Amazing Staff and Professors
  • Apartment location was walkable to the school and the city center
  • Very safe - never felt unsafe even walking at night
What other participants should know
  • Classes were a little long, but it was accelerated

My Study Abroad Experience

My study abroad experience in Barcelona has been nothing short of extraordinary, a transformative journey that has broadened my horizons, enriched my cultural understanding, and left me with cherished memories that I will carry with me for a lifetime. As a CEA study abroad ambassador, I am thrilled to share my incredible adventure in this captivating city.
From the moment I stepped off the plane, Barcelona welcomed me with its vibrant energy and awe-inspiring architecture. The city's unique blend of historic charm and modern innovation created an atmosphere that was simultaneously nostalgic and forward-looking. Wandering through the enchanting streets, I was greeted by the iconic works of Antoni Gaudí, such as the whimsical Sagrada Família and the mesmerizing Park Güell. These masterpieces not only served as breathtaking backdrops but also ignited my curiosity about the creative minds that shaped the city's identity.
One of the most rewarding aspects of my study abroad experience was the opportunity to immerse myself in the local culture. The Catalonian way of life revealed itself to me through its culinary delights, lively festivals, and warm-hearted people. I found myself growing not only academically but also personally as I navigated everyday life in a foreign land, adapting to new customs and embracing the Spanish language.

Pros
  • Cultural Immersion and Language Development
  • Exploration Opportunities
  • Academic Growth
What other participants should know
  • Language Barrier Challenges
  • Cultural Adjustment Period
  • Home Sickness

Study Abroad Sydney with Internship

CEA CAPA was my second study abroad experience. Although my first study abroad experience (not through CEA CAPA) was unforgettable, I can honestly say that CEA CAPA is a very special and unique program. My favorite part about the program is that it can be personalized for each person. Most people in the program were placed in an internship that was catered towards their interests or field of study. I was beyond thrilled to have marketing internship at a surf school on Bondi Beach. This was something I couldn't have gotten in a different program. I had great support from the CEA CAPA staff the entire time that helped me navigate a new culture, a new environment, and a new workplace. The friendships I made at my internship have outlived the four months I spent in Sydney, and I couldn't be more grateful.
I also appreciate how understanding the professors were. They wanted to make sure that we got the most of our time in Sydney. Oftentimes they would create our assignments in ways to get us involved in local community or study our surroundings. For example, an advertising class had us go around and find examples of Australian culture in marketing and advertising. From all the time I spent in Bondi, I noticed the local grocery store had advertisements on a community surfboard. This helped me pay more attention to my surroundings and really take in every little detail of the city. We also had some great excursions planned for us!

Pros
  • internship
  • community and support
  • beautiful
What other participants should know
  • Classes were only with CAPA students and not Australian students
Response from CEA CAPA Education Abroad

Hi Isabella, Thanks for sharing about your unique and special experience in Australia! It really is incredible that you can curate the abroad experience per person and how you felt understood by your professors. Thanks again!

I loved CEA Barcelona

This abroad experience was the best four months of my life. Although I did not do housing through CEA CAPA, I lived in an apartment near the school with some friends and walked to class every day. I had so much fun both in and outside of class in Barcelona, traveling with my friends on the weekend and going to class during the week. I took many communications classes that I thoroughly enjoyed at CEA CAPA, and I would recommend this program and the classes to anyone that is planning on going abroad.

Pros
  • Campus location
  • Teachers
  • Students
What other participants should know
  • Attendance

CEA CAPA University of Granada Review

I thoroughly enjoyed every second of my study abroad experience in Granda! The people I met through this program made my entire trip and I am so thankful for this program for bringing us together. While in Granada I immerse myself in the city and got involved in the Granada Ultimate Frisbee team. This allowed me to see a different side of the city while connecting with locals. I encourage any student getting involved in study abroad to meet locals and see a different side of their city! Thank you CEA!

Pros
  • The friends and people you meet
  • Trips to see surrounding cities
  • Understanding different cultures in the world
What other participants should know
  • Language barriers

  • Travel expenses

CEA Capa Amsterdam Review

I loved the organization of the program and the friendships I had the ability to build. Not only did the university have great academics but the excursion activities were so amazing in getting closer with the other members of my program. I loved Amsterdam so much and am so happy with the connections I made. Getting to experience all that the city of Amsterdam had to offer was such a unique experience, and being able to enjoy it with great friends I made through my abroad program, it was even more fun.

Pros
  • Access to a multitude of resources
  • Own room in housing
  • Very accessible city to travel in
What other participants should know
  • Housing a bit outside the center of the city
  • Can be hard to financially navigate
  • Public transport in the city closes early
