CEA is Great!!

Cassandra has done such an incredible job at making students feel like they have a family and support system abroad! She's such an amazing person and she's enhanced my experience in London ten-fold! If you're going to go to London, pick CEA, they'll take good care of you! They make it so easy to feel comfortable in a new environment, if it wasn't for CEA showing me tons of new things, I wouldn't have had such an amazing experience!

Dublin!

Dublin, Ireland was the best experience I have had so far in my college career. From the amazing faculty and staff in the States and abroad, to the culture that I was able to immerse myself in for four months, to all of the traveling I was able to do and all of the people I had the opportunity of meeting. While the housing arrangements were not ideal (Dublin has a housing crisis and our apartments were not the greatest-- #ArchwayCourtForever), the experience was so incredibly worth it. I would definitely recommend this program to anyone looking to study abroad. I participated in the service learning program in Dublin and worked with elementary school aged kids in an after school program. Dublin, Ireland has my heart and I will be back not soon enough.

What would you improve about this program?
The housing situation, though it is very difficult to find housing in Dublin. At times it seemed like all of our professors gave us presentations/papers/projects at the exact same time. I think for the students' sake, the assignments should be more spread out.

A wonderful experience abroad!

Going to London through CEA was one the best decisions I've ever made! It was surely an adjustment - but the on site staff were so friendly and knowledgeable - it made it very easy to adapt.

CEA took us to lots of places around the host country we stayed in (London, England). We went to Stonehenge & Bath, Oxford, York and even more local tours! The best part about these trips and tours was going places I wouldn't normally have gone myself & learning about all the history that comes with it.

Love this program!

I really loved studying abroad with CEA here in Buenos Aires. The staff is really great and helpful, and go out of their way to help us find activities to participate in, great food to eat, and fun places to go in our free time. The study center was kind of strange, because it was very different than a normal campus feel that I am used to. That being said, we had a lounge where we could hang out with free coffee and tea, a more quiet computer lab/study room with several computers and free printing, and a place to store things during the day if we needed to. I enjoyed the classes as well, because I honestly knew close to nothing about Argentina before coming and I feel that I have learned a lot. We went on several weekend/day trips, some with CEA and some on our own. I felt like a lot of planning went into these CEA trips and I really appreciated that! As far as enjoying my time in the city or travelling on my own, that was totally up to me. The staff did a great job of keeping us informed about what things were happening in the city so that we could always have something to do. I know that some of my friends here complained a lot about the workload and that we always had so many assignments that we did not have any free time, but honestly that's not true!!! I really feel that the workload was completely appropriate for university level courses.

What would you improve about this program?
At the start, I think there could be better communication between the professors and students. We were all a little confused and did not know what exactly to expect, and having all of our classes taught in Spanish was a big adjustment. We found that some professors added assignments spontaneously and without clearly communicating their expectations, and that was frustrating. If there was a way to ensure that the syllabus would actually be complete and correct, or that any changes to it would be clearly and effectively communicated, I know that would be very helpful. Additionally, as I said before, many of my friends had a hard time with their time-management skills while we were here. So maybe during the orientation at the beginning, it would be a good idea to spend some time talking to us about how long our assignments should take each week, or tips to help us use our time wisely while abroad. I know that by now we should know how to do this on our own, but studying in a different country is different, especially because we did not really have a home campus.

No place like Sevilla

Sevilla is the most perfect city I have ever been to, and I couldn't imagine studying here through any other program. CEA helped make Sevilla feel like home. The staff truly cares about its students and will do anything to ensure they have the best experience here possible; they are very organized and always are willing to help. Another great part about CEA is that there are students from a variety of universities from all over the US, which allowed me the unique opportunity to meet many new people I couldn't have otherwise if I studied through my home university. The housing options are also amazing, and I have been able to form an incredible relationship with my "madre." I have had the most amazing experience here in Sevilla with CEA, and couldn't imagine doing abroad any differently.

What would you improve about this program?
Classes with more conversational Spanish, the opportunity to take classes with local students

CEA London Review

The CEA London program was the best experience of my life. Because I was the last person to show up at the airport on the arrival day of the program, and travelled abroad alone, knowing no one, I was very nervous. Once I showed up at the meeting point, Cassandra and Danielle took me to my dorm personally, since I was the last one to arrive. Although I was nervous, Cassandra and Danielle were the most welcoming and comforting people I have met. They are easily the best people to run the program, and made me feel beyond comfortable abroad. They have created a home for me abroad, and made my experience the best possible. Additionally, CEA provides extra events, like scavenger hunts and trips throughout England, that offer a great way to see different areas and meet people in your program. CEA has been such a great experience, and I am so glad I decided to study abroad through CEA.

What would you improve about this program?
Better college pairing. I did not like University of Westminster at all, due to faculty.

Awesome Program

Prague is an amazing city in an even better country, and CEA was the best program to come here through. They were always around and ready to help with anything we may need--even if it was just where to buy any travel necessities. I was extremely happy with my housing that CEA provided, and was lucky enough to be placed only a five minute walking-distance from school. My favorite part of the program was that CEA set up a variety of activities and trips that we could choose to participate in if we wish, which allowed us to experience things that we may not have if they weren't offered as a part of the program. I would recommend the CEA program in Prague to everyone (Prague is the best city I've been to among the many I was lucky enough to travel to during this semester), but if Prague isn't for you, I would recommend any other program provided by CEA since they were so helpful and friendly.

The BEST Decision of my Life

Aix is special for so many reasons, and it doesn't take much for one to understand why once they visit the town. The people, the scenery, the nightlife and the just everything in general make Aix the perfect destination for a college student while studying abroad. I was supposed to go to Paris, but switched last minute after the attacks last November. I had no idea what to expect, and was slightly bummed I couldn't go to Paris. However, it was clear during my first day in Aix that this is where I was meant to be the whole time. I instantly fell in love with the town, the people in my program and the wonderful directors who go above and beyond to make the students feel welcomed and important. I was able to meet many wonderful French students and actually speak French. I'm already planning my next trip back very soon. Because the town is smaller, the amount of people that speak English is much smaller than in a big city like Paris. So, I was forced to use my French and grew tremendously in my language skills. I also love the fact that you can walk anywhere in Aix and enjoy the beautiful weather by doing so. (It never gets really cold, which I enjoy because I'm from the Midwest.) There is also a wonderful bus system for a very small fare that can take you anywhere in the region (that means the beach!). Aix was the best, accidental, decision I have ever made, and I am very grateful for it.

Widening the Circle

The best thing about studying abroad is that academically, we can easily apply what we learned in class and we get immediate feedbacks on whether we applied our knowledge right or wrong. And socially, we build confidence. I even started a conversation with a lost stranger who ended up taking me to a dinner, all in French! I also checked hitchhiking off my bucket list and got to travel around so much more than I could have ever imagined. Now I have so many friends all over Europe that I could always come back to!

What would you improve about this program?
I definitely think it is important to have a few days together with a lot of the french university students at the beginning of the semester. Having this every semester would definitely make a difference in opening up a community of french speakers.

Breathtakingly Beautiful Prague

I loved living in Prague 9 months, it was one of the most rewarding experiences I've ever had. Loved my roommate and the apartment that CEA provided for us. The czech language is EXTREMELY difficult but most people speak at least some English. The city is full of hidden gems and cool bars and clubs. It also has a number of parks and a multitude of beautiful buildings, churches and lots of history to learn about. It's also located so conveniently in Europe that it makes it so easy to travel a lot! The beer here is seriously delicious and SO cheap! After spending only a short time here it's hard to leave without a new appreciation for beer. Czech cuisine is not necessarily as impressive as say Italian or French but it is extremely filling and also cheap. It's amazing that Czech people can stay so thin!

What would you improve about this program?
I would add more excursion to other locations outside of Prague. Would have loved to go hiking!
