Amazing semester

I had an amazing time abroad with TEAN, and I can't imagine going with any other company. They made everything so easy and supported me the entire way from when I was still applying to while I was over there! They set up awesome excursions in the beginning of the study abroad experience to get to know other students studying in the same country and city to make friends, and also had excursions throughout the semester to catch up and check in with us while having a great time (from hiking a dormant volcano to going to a rugby match!). I also can't say enough good things about the people I met as a part of TEAN, from the staff who was abroad with us, to the other students who are now lifelong friends! They made my study abroad experience everything I could have imagined and more, and I can't believe that it's over. Can I go again?!!!!

What would you improve about this program?
I really can't think of anything. Everything was absolutely amazing!

An Incredible Experience

This program was one of best, if not the best, experiences of my life. The course material is very interesting and is only made better by the professors, who are simply incredible, both as professors and as people. As the program moves around the east coast of Australia, we got to see a wide range of what the country has to offer, from the major city of Sydney to the surfer town of Byron Bay. The various excursions helped to expose us to the areas and topics that we were studying. Scuba diving the Great Barrier Reef was something I thought I would only dream of doing and this program gave me the opportunity to do so. One of my favorite memories, however, was hiking through the Blue Mountains with a guide who was one of the local Aboriginal people, an experience that only an established program like this could arrange. This program was an amazing experience and TEAN made it all possible. The hardest part of the entire program was going home because I did not want to leave.

TEANS program: an absolute dream come true

Going to Australia to study abroad was the best choice i could have ever made for myself. the school is beautiful, and the gold coast is absolutely breathtaking. Not only that, but TEAN's program is amazing. I am so happy that i decided to go through them. They were there for all of their students every step of the way. Even through the application process, they answered all of my e-mails right away, and even made sure that I was comfortable and knew that I was not alone throughout the process. Once you get there they stick by your side. They are there to talk you through any problems you may be facing. For example, if you get homesick they will be there to talk through it and comfort you. They give you amazing experiences you might not originally get without them, such as going to the great barrier reef and going to cairnes. Overall, it was the best experience of my life!

What would you improve about this program?
I Don't think there is really anything i would change, it was a very pleasant experience.

Amazing Experience with TEAN

My experience studying abroad with TEAN was incredible, it truly was an amazing 5 months! Before going, I knew that I was looking for something new, exciting and unknown to me which is why I chose to go to Australia. However, my home university did not offer a direct exchange with universities in Melbourne which was my first location of choice. TEAN gave me the opportunity to study where I wanted to and offered so much help in transitioning new students and acclimating them to the city. University of Melbourne is highly ranked with great professors and a beautiful campus! The housing TEAN provided was modern had the perfect location, right in the heart of the city. Melbourne became a second home thanks to TEAN and I cannot wait for the day I get the opportunity to go back!

An experience that makes everyday feel like a dream: Gold Coast through TEAN

TEAN made sure we were never alone throughout the whole process from choosing a program to landing back home after the program was over. As soon as we got off the plane in Australia, we were greeted by several TEAN staff that made somewhere so far away feel like home. Every week, they would update us on events going on in the community that I would've never been able to take part in without them. Having a resource just a phone call or 5 min walk away was something that made my abroad experience exponentially better.

My living arrangements were the nicest living arrangements I will ever get in my whole life. For the four months, I lived on the 22nd floor of the 5-star hotel Peppers Broadbeach. I highly suggest you look up pictures because you surely won't be disappointed. We were a minute walk from the beach, the bus stop that could bring us across Gold Coast, a large mall with a grocery store, and countless opportunities for adventure. The location and the actual housing itself felt like a dream. I have heard nightmares of people's living arrangements while they're abroad but the only nightmare I experienced was leaving mine!

The Australian culture is extremely welcoming which made it easier to integrate into the local culture. Utilizing the advice from TEAN to join an on-campus club was one of the best pieces of advice I got throughout my experience. By interacting each week with students at the university outside of the classroom, I was able to form connections with these students that allowed me to immerse myself fully into the culture. They invited me to family outings and friend activities that allowed me to create my own family within their culture.

If I could do this a million times over, I would still choose the same program. TEAN made each individual student that came through the program feel as if they were part of a bigger family. I always felt as if I had someone to go to and rely on for anything from travel advice to a hug when I was missing home.

What would you improve about this program?
I just really wish I could've stayed forever! Thank you to TEAN for truly making this the best 4 months of my life.

Best Semester of My Life on the Goldie

Studying abroad is a once in a lifetime chance-unless you’re lucky enough to be able to do it multiple semesters in college-and TEAN is the program to go through!! I studied abroad in Gold Coast, Australia at Bond University and would do it again if I could. I was living my best life every day on the Goldie! Thanks to TEAN for some amazing events with great photo opportunities like snorkeling in the Great Barrier Reef to the Q1 Skypoint Climb above all of the Gold Coast coastline my Instagram game was continuously on point! I’m so thankful for the support from the staff once I was in Australia they really helped it become my home away from home. TEAN is a study abroad program that offers the maximum help every step of the way and is worth every penny you have to pay for the program!!

A DREAM COME TRUE

TEAN Study Abroad on the Gold Coast was by far the most professional, comprehensive, and caring program to choose for my study abroad experience. From the introductory e-mail, to the first step off the plane, to the tearful departure back home, TEAN made me feel profoundly comfortable to leave home for four months entrusting them with a truly formative experience in my life. TEAN was exceedingly transparent and thorough with each and every leg of my abroad experience. They also had remarkable communication to ensure every phone call and e-mail was returned without fail.

Studying on the Gold Coast was absolutely picture perfect. The convenience of the public transportation system allowed us to enjoy the coastline of sensational beaches, rainforest scenery hidden in the mountains, or the nooks and crannies of urban culture scattered in each city. There are plenty of coffee shops filled with locals catching up over a cuppa, kabob shops blaring music for the nightlife goers, or a local artist’s markets on the weekends intriguing your inner tourist. There is absolutely something for everyone.

The apartment style living I was fortunate enough to live in on the Gold Coast was luxurious to a tee, and I felt so blessed to be able to call Peppers Broadbeach my home. We were treated like family by the staff at Peppers, and they were considerably generous to all our needs and concerns. If you don't mind a quick public bus ride to school every day and living 30 seconds from one of the most beautiful beaches ever... I strongly recommend.

Studying at Bond University during my time in Australia was much like my home university. The buildings were all in one cohesive location, the classrooms were modern, and the campus was aesthetically pleasing. The transition of coursework from American style teaching to Australian was a bit of a transition, but TEAN students rallied together to help one another and I never felt alone or lost thanks to them.

I am extremely grateful to have chosen TEAN for my study abroad experience because I now have a network of people who are considered family. Thank you TEAN for being the gift that keeps on giving to everyone you meet.

What would you improve about this program?
The only thing I can possibly think of is to have more events as a whole, i.e. family dinners with TEAN students.

Great summer!

It was a great experience! I'm so glad I went to Thailand with a study abroad program so I could learn about the country more in-depth, and this program was a great way to do it. I loved being able to stay in the dorms and take classes at the host university, because it was a similar experience to being a student in that country and it allowed us to meet peers our own age. The class was really interesting, though not too challenging (which was perfect for experiencing the city). There were some very interesting field trips as a part of the class, like different temples and a weekend at a village. And of course the food was amazing, and not too expensive (if you stuck with Thai food). The timing worked out great with my schedule so I was able to do other things over the summer as well.

The Most Spontaneous Five Months of My Life

TEAN Abroad was incredibly helpful in my transition from my home university to life abroad. They guided me in the entire process of applying for the program at my dream destination of Melbourne, Australia. Not only did they organize a fantastic orientation in Cairns, Australia, but they also continued to enhance our experience by showing us around our chosen city and brought us to different events throughout the semester. Because of the incredibly nice people at TEAN, we got to see a live footy match and sport the hometown gear in the fan section. We got to see a comedian at the International Comedy Festival and a concert at a local music venue. They tailor each program so that everyone can experience something they enjoy and make everyone feel right at home. Not once did I feel unsafe in my apartment or ignored from the TEAN staff. I got to spend my five months abroad in an apartment right in the city center with great new friends who I still remain in contact with. If anyone is looking to study abroad in Australia, New Zealand, or Asia, I highly recommend they use TEAN as their third-party organization to help make their experience remarkable right off the bat.

What would you improve about this program?
The only thing I would say is maybe more opportunities to meet local Australian students outside of class.

My second home with my second family

I always knew I wanted to explore the vibrant scenes of Sydney, Australia, but I could never have been prepared for the pure magic I experienced. Sydney was the most incredible home away from home. From the perfectly crafted flat white coffees I got daily at various local cafes, to the beautiful scenic hiking trails I explored with international friends in my free time, and the exciting night life beside the iconic Opera house at dusk. If I could go back now, I would. One day I will find my way back. If Sydney wasn't compelling enough on its own, UNSW and TEAN made the study abroad experience the most impeccable and memorable it could be. UNSW is an impressive university of engaging professors teaching subjects they are passionate about to students from around the world. The campus was homey and welcoming which made studying late at the library or meeting groups for projects out in the grass between classes so much more enjoyable. TEAN has left me nothing but good things to say. I will admit I was reluctant at first to let them help with registration as I felt like I was being disconnected from the process, but by the end I was so thankful for their support. They made the transition from UW to UNSW seamless through registration, to picking me up at the airport, hosting me in Cairns for an indescribable orientation, and planning group events in Sydney throughout the semester. I couldn't have lasted through the end of the semester without TEAN when I was unexpectedly diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes and sent to the emergency department. My TEAN adviser in Sydney was the single most helpful, supportive, kind, and caring person through the whole process. She made the uncomfortable and rattling experience so much more manageable by helping me to schedule doctor's appointments, navigate insurance, and giving me the courage to stay in a different country without the comfort of my family. This truly solidified my feeling of Australia and TEAN as a home and family away from the states.
