My experience at Kunming was great! The weather is very comfortable even in summer and the food is great. The teachers are all very attentive and I’have learned a lot. I can only recommend it!
Kunming offers fantastic spring-like great weather all year round, and our language school is conveniently located right in the city center, making it super easy to travel around and explore local sights.
All the Chinese teachers here are extremely nice, warm and patient. They deliver high teaching quality with clear explanations and tailored lessons for learners of different levels. Besides regular classes, the school always organizes great cultural and outdoor activities, such as coffee tastings and city tours, which help us practice oral Chinese outside the classroom. What’s more, the cafeteria serves really good food with a rich variety of Yunnan dishes. I truly enjoy every day studying here.

I think Keats in Kunming is the perfect place to study Chinese in China. My class has been excellent and I have really enjoyed exploring Kunming. I was able to walk around the area near Keats and take the subway to areas further away from downtown, such as the Yunnan Ethnic Minorities Village. Additionally, everyone at the school, both staff and students have been very kind and friendly. They’re happy to do everything they can to improve your experience.
Kunming, known as the City of Spring, boasts fantastic local coffee relying on high-quality Yunnan Arabica beans. I visited a quiet boutique café near Green Lake Park during my trip, and it totally exceeded my expectations.
All beans are freshly roasted on-site from Yunnan’s high-altitude plantations. The pour-over coffee has mild fruit acidity, nutty sweetness and a clean lingering aftertaste, far less bitter than ordinary imported coffee. The baristas are professional and patient, introducing local bean features and crafting delicate latte art

I recently completed eight weeks of Chinese language study at Keats in Kunming.

My teacher was very professional and helpful in her instruction. I was able to make good progress in my language ability, especially reading. At the end of my studies, my teacher also provided valuable feedback, suggestions, and future study resources. Overall, the teaching was very good!

The environment at Keats and Kunming is also excellent. Lots of socialization opportunities and the city of Kunming provides ample sightseeing and restaurants. As well, the climate in Kunming is very comfortable, not too hot or cold!

I had such a wonderful experience at the Keats school and truly enjoyed every moment of my Chinese lessons. From the very beginning, I felt incredibly welcome and comfortable, and the whole atmosphere at the school was warm, friendly and professional.

A very special thank you goes to my amazing teacher, Lina. She is an absolutely wonderful teacher – patient, kind, encouraging and always able to make every lesson interesting and enjoyable. I started learning Chinese from zero, and I am honestly amazed by how much I was able to learn in such a short period of time. Thanks to Lina, I now have enough basic knowledge to understand and use Chinese in simple everyday situations, which I never expected to achieve so quickly.

Most importantly, I genuinely looked forward to every lesson and had so much fun learning with her. Lina made me feel confident and motivated, even as a complete beginner. I am leaving with such wonderful memories and a real desire to continue learning Chinese.

I came in Summer 2026 for a 5-week private program (4 hours per day). From the moment I arrived, the staff were warm, welcoming, and helpful. The free pickup from the train station or airport was a very thoughtful service, taking away the stress of navigating through a new city when you are already tired from a long journey.

The dorms were basically furnished, similar to a university dorm room (I had the most basic option, there are nicer options) but clean and had everything needed to study. The main facility is comfortable and the classrooms are perfectly sized for the 1-1 learning I was interested in.

My teacher was amazing at creating lessons that helped me progress. She quickly found the gaps that I had in Chinese and worked to fill them without ignoring my language needs.

Almost every day there are activities (movies, crafts, restaurant outings) that immerse you in the culture and surrounding environment. Particularly on the weekends, the teachers will organize day trips to important cultural and tourist desitinations in Yunnan, giving you plenty of ways to fill your free time.

Finally, the connections built with other students helped push us all forward in our language journey.

I studied in Kunming for five weeks and Shanghai for one week, and my experience at Keats was truly amazing. From the very first moment I arrived, everyone made me feel welcome and took great care of me. The staff were always attentive, kind, and ready to help with anything I needed, making me feel at home even though I was so far away from my own country. Living on campus made the experience even more special because the support was both personal and constant.

I was very lucky to have Yuki as my teacher throughout my time at Keats, both in Kunming and Shanghai. She not only helped me improve my Chinese through well-structured and engaging lessons, but also encouraged me to use the language in real-life situations outside the classroom. The lessons were perfectly adapted to my learning goals, and I feel that I made significant progress during my time at Keats.

The atmosphere in both Kunming and Shanghai was unforgettable. The campus, the teachers, and the entire Keats team created a warm, motivating, and friendly environment that made learning Chinese enjoyable every single day. I would choose Keats again without hesitation and hope to come back in the future. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for making me feel at home while being so far away from home!

This school was very helpful. Travel in china can be very difficult and scary with so many apps in a foreign language. The school helps with many things such as getting a visa, local phone number, installing apps and booking trains, ECT. I'm not great with beauracracy so it's a great relief for the school to remove that stress from my life. They have many options of activities that you can do, if you prefer to do something on your own the school is still a good environment, you can get recommendations from fellow students and teachers.

I did a few months of private lessons and I am surprised at how much progress I made as I knew no Chinese before arriving and I have never been a diligent student.

I enrolled in one week of one-on-one language training in Nanjing. The teacher did an excellent job providing high-quality instruction and lesson plans tailored to my language goals (e.g. spoken vs. written fluency, conversational vs. formal language). The teacher was also helpful in acquainting me with small matters of daily life, such as setting up Alipay for public transit, which can sometimes be a barrier for foreigners new to China. My language skills noticeably improved over the week, and I got to explore Nanjing as well.

When I came to Kunming to continue learning Chinese, I found Keats school. I contacted Mandy and had a very positive experience meeting her. It was very convenient getting into the school and arranging to start classes. I was able to easily switch from the beginner group to intermediate and then to one on one learning. While I’ve studied one on one, I’ve had a few different teachers. It has been easy to switch between teachers according to schedules. Willow is so helpful for all of our needs and arrangements. I’m really thankful for this experience and hope to continue learning at Keats

Studying at Keats was the best language-learning experience I have had. Peng Laoshi was an outstanding teacher who was patient, encouraging, and always knew how to adapt lessons to my level while pushing me to improve. My confidence in speaking Mandarin increased dramatically, and I noticed real progress in both listening and conversation. The immersive environment made practicing Chinese feel natural every day. I also appreciated the friendly staff, organized program, and supportive atmosphere that made living and studying in China enjoyable. I left with stronger language skills, wonderful memories, and motivation to continue learning. I highly recommend Keats to anyone serious about improving Mandarin.

My host family was amazing—seriously, I miss them already. The mom was always taking us to cool places nearby, and the dad was hilarious. They were constantly joking around, really caring, and they made us the best food. I got to practice my Chinese all the time and got a real peek into everyday life in China, which helped my Chinese improve like crazy. I'm so thankful for everything they did.
