Great Experience at LTL Beijing

Being at LTL was an amazing experience. I met many new friends at LTL. The teachers were all great and they even taught me how to play Mahjong. The out of class activities that were organised by the school are great opportunities to meet new people and bond with them.
My tip: choose the lessons in the morning, so you can attend the activities and spend more time with your friends. In my experience most people go for morning classesI highly recommend it to people who want to improve their Chinese or want to get started on their Chinese learning journey.
Thank you LTL for having me.

Great school :-)

I highly recommend studying at LTL language school. I had two weeks in October 24 at the Chengdu school. I only wish my stay with the school was longer. My tutor Dawn was outstanding, and despite the limited amount of time helped me make some significant progress, and further ignite my interest in learning Mandarin. She is enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and a pleasure to study with. Thank you Dawn! There are many good social activities with the other students and tutors suggested and organised by Mandy, the Chengdu administrator, who creates a very warm and welcoming environment, alongside all of the other staff and students. All in all a great school! Furthermore, Chengdu itself is an amazing city. For me ambling along the riverside was a particular joy, night or day, and provides a great way to explore further than the usual (and still great) tourist activities.

5 week program in Chengde

I just spent 5 weeks in Chengde with LTL.
I organised my stay within 2 weeks. The service was quick, friendly, and concise. All my classes, my homestay, and welcome packages organised within days of inquiry. Truly great service.

Chengde is a quaint and beautiful city. Surrounded by mountains, imperial palaces and temples - you will never be short of things to do in your free time - whether it be cultural or outdoor activities. Beautiful city, lots of fun things to do, and only 1 hour on the fast train to Beijing, close to other tourist attractions in North-east China, Inner Mongolia and Hebei itself. LTL will also help you organise other activities such as traditional paper cutting, or painting, which will leave you with plenty of souvenirs to take home with you.
Throughout my time I had 3 teachers, who were always patient with me, and grew to become my friends. Thanks Jack, Ida and Mike! Thanks to you, my confidence in my Chinese has exploded! the classes are tailored to your needs, whether you're a beginner, intermediate, or advanced – In my case, I came to Chengde to focus purely on vocabulary and conversational skills. We found my best method was watching western cartoons I had already watched on Bilibili (chinese streaming site) and studying the new vocab together and using these new words in our conversations. Some days we had outdoor classes, and other days we went out shopping together!

My homestay was definitely the highlight of my stay. They truly welcomed me into the family and will made me feel very welcomed. Healthy Chinese meals every day, help with my language practice, and a once in a lifetime experience into Chinese home-life. I will miss my Chinese Mum, Dad, LaoLao, little brother, and little sister so much. I will definitely come back!

My Chinese level has improved so much, I made life-long friends, and my immersion into real Chinese culture was a once in a lifetime experience. As soon as I have another opportunity to come back, I’ll be reaching out to LTL immediately.

This is by FAR the best way to improve your Chinese quickly!

LTL mandarin School in Beihai

LTL Language School Mandarin is a school with a lot of very diverse resources, based in different cities in Asia. Studying with LTL allowed me to visit major Chinese cities and learn deeply about the different cultures, accents, and traditions of China. I chose Beihai because the city was smaller and more provincial. The advantages are numerous. The population has little English and immersion in the Chinese language is total and improving rapidly. With the support of an excellent teacher, I was able to understand and correct my language mistakes, one after the other. Thanks to a very welcoming administrative team, who gave me the opportunity to taste the local cuisine and appreciate it. This very dynamic team also took me to sports centers and cultural events. Exchanges with teachers and the administrative staff are easy and direct. All this means, that I had an excellent stay, for a very modest price. I really regret not being able to extend this 10-day stay, but even in 10 days, my level of Chinese has improved a lot. I highly recommend the LTL Mandarin school in small towns like Beihai, warmer than in big cities. The apartment-sharing system is also part of the progression of my learning, with a friendly roommate in a clean apartment, close to the school. Do not hesitate, to choose Beihai LTL!

I learned a lot in a great city

The quality of instruction was good and the staff are very friendly and helpful. My instructor, Unicorn, is patient, flexible and able to explain things in English.

Chengdu is very easy to get around and the local folks are helpful and nice. I have only been to Chengdu, Beijing, and Shanghai in China. But if I had to choose between the three I would choose Chengdu for its livability, great parks, neighbourhoods, and more laid back atmosphere.

Good Luck learning Mandarin and about Sichuan and China.

Pros
  • Great instruction
  • Great food and drink
  • Very livable city. I was sad having to leave.

1 month in Beihai

I've been in Beihai for a month now and have the intensive individual programme with 6 hours a day. Personally, I think that's a bit too much, but it's definitely doable. However, if you also want to explore and experience a lot outside of school during the week, then it's a bit much.
The city is very quiet and it's a lot of fun to drive around with the scouts. Of course there aren't as many sights as in Beijing, but so far I've never got bored. The staff at the school always go out of their way to find new excursions. My personal highlights so far have been colouring clothes, making lanterns and of course all kinds of eating out (you can always trust Savanna's recommendations). I made friends with the other students very quickly. Everyone is very nice and helpful.
Besides I really enjoyed my evening walks on the beach.
I am also very happy with my two teachers. Summer is always very well prepared and I think I have made good progress thanks to her. I also had a lot of fun with Vicky and practised speaking a lot.

I can definitely recommend the school!

LTL is amazing and I would recommend to anyone!

Personally, I trust reviews to help me decide on a variety of decisions, especially when travelling to new places. That is why I am writing this review to encourage you to come to LTL Taipei. I have been here for three months and truly everyday has been a joy. The staff here are a special group of people who really really care about you as a student and as a person. They work everyday day to ensure your education, your living situation, and your extracurricular needs are met in order to enjoy the experience of being a language student in another country. My teachers Willy, Tammy, Sabrina, and JuJu have been absolutely wonderful to work with. They each love teaching with their own methods, and they each know how to make class fun, interesting, and effective at any level! Overall, I am so grateful I found LTL and I will definitely be back.

My experience in Seoul learning Korean

My experience at LTL Seoul was fantastic! My teacher was incredibly understanding, always going the extra mile to teach me what I specifically asked for, in addition to the material from the LTL-provided textbook. The location in Hongdae is perfect—such a vibrant area, full of cafes and even nightlife! There’s also a cool terrace where I could study after class. Manuel and Esther were always checking in to make sure I had everything I needed. They also organized fun lunches and dinners with other students, which made the experience even more enjoyable!
My homestay family was so lovely and supportive, helping me with my Korean and creating unforgettable memories together. I can say that a Korean family now.

Cultural Immersion

The best things about studying with LTL Korea is:

1- They are serious and take your safety and that of minors very seriously.
2- their homestay families are amazing - we get to eat local every day, get to watch TV with them and communicate in Korea all day every day - what more can one ask when learning a new language?
3- Their teachers are fantastic - they are fun and adaptable - I had a lot of needs and they were all met!

I'll come back most definitely - loved the events in the evenings too and the staff - Keep working hard you guys - YOU ROCK!

Quickest progress in Chengde

The organisation was smooth and clear. My host family was super earm and welcoming, there was nothing that I would miss while living with them. The classes are held one by one in Chengde so the progress is super quick. The teachers are competent and give their best. Outside of the classes there are many activities to join to further progress in the language as the locals speak almost no english, so mandarin chinese is required. But no worries if you think you will be overwhelmed, they are very warm and welcoming and if you don't understand something you can always use hands and feet to communicate or find another way. I would recommend Chengde to all mandarin learners, it is the best place to practice your mandarin and progress as quickly as possible.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Go and visit the mountain resort!
