Flex learning is great !

I started learning with Flex because I was frustrated by the two other Chinese learning portals I explored. I tried learning by myself, but I was unorganized and after six months I couldn't put sentences together. I began with flex and in as few as four lessons my Chinese learning improved and I developed more confidence in expressing myself.
I also love the learning materials which included a media audio clip and printed material .Even homework. You can also choose your schedule and if you want a solo class , group class or a combination of both .

Pros
  • There are too many too list
Cons
  • I can't think of one

Shanghai LTL

In regards to Shanghai. This was THE BEST experience I could have ever imagined having experienced such an ordeal in Singapore. Due to the fear of staying with a host family like  the one I had in Singapore, I decided to stay at a hotel instead. In Shanghai, LTL has an office in a building where the students are together and able to meet and bond during breaks and lunch. Granted the space was't big, but the common area was great!   The teachers were so professional, experienced and accommodating. Alex, the Shanghai Director, would organize fun activities on a weekly basis and since we all kind of knew each other, it was more inviting.  We had movie nights, Mahjong, Archery, hiking and much more.  All the teachers were so helpful to everyone, even when you are not their students. My teacher spent time teaching me how to cook tea eggs and make tea the traditional way. It wasn't just hit the books with characters and sentence structure, but a more cultural experience built into the language learning experience. Although it was only four weeks that I spent in Shanghai, I felt like I got three months worth, if not more.  I was able to walk into class full of energy and motivation because I was able to study in an air conditioned room with a desk. I really didn't want to leave and will truly miss the teachers and staff.  I highly recommend learning in Shanghai instead of Singapore. The culture and exposure was fully immersed as Singapore is an English speaking country whereas Shanghai is all mandarin.  It was a very memorable experience. Overall Shanghai's environment and people are much more helpful and accomodating.

At the end of the day, Singapore was a blessing in disguise. I am so glad I experienced Singapore, but that I left early. It was a terrible experience which I will post later on google as this reviews is just about the Shanghai team. The only thing that I thought could have been a little better is that the owner Andreas or Irene could have reached out to see how each student was doing from time to time. Just a quick email or FaceTime to see how a student is doing would be a kind gesture.  I understand they have different locations in different countries but it doesn't hurt to spend a few minutes to reach out to provide some service. Perhaps they only check in to new paying students...Andreas did that in Singapore but I did not hear from him once in Shanghai,.

I will be with LTL in Taiwan for another 4 weeks soon so I will give an update review afterwards. In addition, I signed my 10 year old child for a 4 weeks session in Taiwan this summer. Will let you all know how it goes just in case you decide to send your kids there.

Hope this helps.

2 weeks in Shanghai summer 2023

I studied with Alex and Jason at LTL Shanghai for two weeks in May 2023. I did 30 hours a week, including 10-20 hours each week outside the classroom in their “Discover Shanghai” and “Shanghai Safari” programs. I was one of the more advanced students, but the students who were there at the time were everything from absolute beginners to more advanced than me. They also set me up with a Chinese homestay, which was a lot of fun and I learned a lot from as well. Overall I highly recommend LTL. The teachers have degrees in teaching Chinese to foreign learners and their experience shows, they are really talented. The school has a nice environment as well, we often ate lunch together and there were often fun weekend and evening activities both with the teachers and among the students ourselves. The whole operation is very professionally run, with great textbooks they use and a good scheduling system. I was really impressed with every aspect of their program and staff. My Chinese improved a lot during my time and I will definitely go again! Thank you LTL!

LTL flexi classes - a new tool to learn Chinese

I've been studying Chinese for more than a year but I've never had the chance to test my speaking skills due to my tight job and univerisity's schedules and the related difficulties to find a weekly time for Chinese classes.
With LTL I found an incredibly easy-to-use platform, where classes are available basically at any time of the day. What's more is the professionalism of the teachers, I have been a subscriber for several weeks and I only had good and profitable interactions with them.
This is an unbelievable service at a more than fair price, definitely recommended to anyone!

Great Online Classes for Multiple Languages

I started the new year wanting to get back into languages and I’d heard from a friend about LTL’s flexi lessons.

I signed up to the free trial and then picked up a months subscription to give it a good go.

It’s really good I must say. Very flexible as the name suggests and it’s so nice to be able to jump between mandarin and Japanese. I tried Korean too!

Teachers are good, resources are good and you can download the lesson material before class which I loved.

Big thumbs up and I’ll keep my sub rolling

Pros
  • Flexible
  • Multiple languages
  • Download resources before class

Awesome program and very responsive support team!

I started this program about 3 weeks ago, and I truly enjoy the online sessions and classes. The instructor is supportive and knowledgeable, so I learned quite a lot of slang and got opportunities to correct my pronunciations :) Sometimes I even got 1-on-1 sessions for group class price cause there's no other classmate there 😂

The time slots are quite flexible, but just sometimes might not be able to get teachers that are available during certain hours (I'm in the Asia time zone so not many classes are offered during the daytime on weekdays). The support team is SUPER responsive (I mean, they replied to me in less than 6 hours?!) to solve my technical and website issues. I also really like their Discord channel, just another good way to have extra practice and learn some cultural things every day.

Some suggestions here might be:
1. Some time slot suggestions for people in Asia (e.g. avoid certain hours or you scheduled classes might be canceled)
2. Some slides need to be updated (e.g. missing word/symbol, some conversations are grammatically correct but don't make sense 😅)

So far I really love this program and will continue learning with this platform, thank you LTL!

Pros
  • support team
  • teacher
  • flexibility
Cons
  • material
  • class schedule

Offline and Online 1st Class

I studied with LTL in Singapore and also use their Flexi Classes. Both are excellent ways to learn the language.

The Singapore facility is run smoothly and the home stays are absolutely brilliant. I even had my own gym and pool.

The Flexi classes run 24-7 and you can also learn other languages too, I started Korean for fun. You can choose how often you study so it fits busy schedules. I’m a student and do lots of extra curricular but I can still find time to study with Flexi classes which is so useful for me.

I cannot fault the operation at LTL along with staff and teachers. Highly recommended.

Pros
  • Great staff support
  • 24-7 online learning
  • Amazing homestay

Brand new to learning Mandarin

I am brand new to learning Mandarin, and was a bit apprehensive about starting a full program without any background in the language. LTL has made this an incredibly joyous and easy to navigate experience. Their teachers are knowledgable and friendly and have even customized their lessons for the students in the virtual room. The other day I had a class on food and being hungry and my teacher brought in tons of additional food words to reflect my interests and foods I love. In addition to the wonderful teachers, their office has gone above and beyond to check in periodically and make sure that I am getting the best possible experience from their classes. I would recommend this program to anyone looking to learn Mandarin. I can't wait to learn more and continue with the company!

Excellence

This is a school of excellence. I would recommend it to anyone seeking to learn Chinese. The teachers are excellent and the school is very responsive to any questions or problems you have. You are truly taken care of! I am currently using the online Flexi class program and plan to join the in-person program in Taiwan this summer. This school has so many options, it's hard not to find one that fits! Plus, you can change it at any time as your schedule changes. It's perfect for me as a working professional also trying to squeeze in language learning time.

I loved my classes with LTL Mandarin School

I stayed with LTL for a month in 2016 and it was an amazing experience. They were very helpful and I loved the environment and international atmosphere in the school. I've found amazing friends and visited places I would have never found without my new friends. The classes were well structured and the teachers very helpful. On the weekends, we had a lot of great activities offered and got to know the culture. I also tried Taiji and absolutely loved it. I felt very well taken care of in LTL Mandarin School and look forward to going there again.

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
When I arrived in Beijing and drove to my housing by train, I did not have a Chinese SIM-Card yet but had to meet the landlord. I could not find her so I asked a Chinese to help me and luckily he knew some English and called the landlord. She came and only spoke Chinese but knew exactly what to do. We went to buy a SIM card and the brought me to my place so everything worked out well.
