TIG Shanghai Internship

TIG gave me the opportunity of a 4-week internship in Shanghai. This internship was a great learning expereience. During my internship in Shanghai, I was able to effectively take part in various events because of my director, Tommy. He is one of the most pleasent people I have met. That being said, he encouraged me to take part in events and socialize and have a great time. Overall, I had a great time working and living in Shanghai because of Tommy's obliging personality.

Looking back on my Madrid Journey!

When I got accepted into the programme for an internship in Madrid I was very apprehensive about what would be in store. Throughout the process, the Intern Group sent videos, lots of emails keeping me updated and information sheets. It helped me feel at ease not having to worry about housing, transport and the culture shock.

I only really spoke with Lalita the Associate Director and Irene the Events Coordinator. All the cultural events organised by Irene, and included in your fee, were amazing. It helps provide a support network and I have made such great friends and mixed with people from other cultures.

We had a few problems with housing at the beginning but this was the only issue I had. We had many emails with Lalita and all of the Intern Group Madrid to get everything sorted for us. At all times, even the weekends, they were responsive and supportive. Together a solution was found and I felt that their attitude was one of genuine concern!

8 Week Internship Summer 2017

I lived in Shanghai for 8 weeks this summer interning at a fintech research and consultancy firm. I would say that it was probably one of the best experiences I have had, and would highly recommend to anyone looking to not only work, but also make new friends and experience new culture in Shanghai (as well as party hard). You can literally do anything in Shanghai and it has the best clubs and bars, and it helps that a lot of things were so cheap (particularly food). Tommy was our program coordinator and he is literally the best. His communication was great and he always told you what was going on in Shanghai, where all the good deals were, where to go out. He organized so many things that I didn't have a chance to get bored. You could reach him literally 24/7. He's also hilarious and so fun to go out with. I'll never forget this experience in Shanghai!!

Great experience. Worthwhile anyone's time.

Taking on an internship in Hong Kong after graduating was a great decision and I would advise anyone considering it to do so. The Interngroup looked after me exceptionally well, from being logistically well organised to ensuring the social side of living in Hong Kong was everything I had expected and more (thanks to Dicky).

The apartment I lived in was small, which should be expected in Hong Kong, but it was in a relatively central location meaning my commute to work was only around 45 minutes. All of the apartments are clean and well furbished so I have no complaints about the accommodation. Most of the interns live in the same building, making socialising extremely easy.

The placement I undertook was in business analytics for a health insurance company. I can confidently say that I enjoyed my time there and I've certainly gained some valuable workplace experiences and skills.

All in all this is an unmissable experience. Hong Kong is on another level.

Best decision of my life!

I was in my last year of university and deciding what to do next. I searched the opportunities I had for an internship abroad and came across The Intern Group. After almost 6 months living in Hong Kong I have to say this was the best decision I could ever made.

Since the beginning of my experience The Intern Group help me to have access to great opportunities in my field and help me get experience with my future projects. I was placed in a top F&B company in which I learned the insights on how to manage and give the best customer service in a business.

The best part of the internship was the team from The Intern Group who was always open to help in every case. It could be from some simple matters as where to eat or where to go to the doctor to help you if you have any issues with your internship. Dicky and Jenny were did an extraordinary job when they were needed.

I NEVER leave reviews- so trust me this program is worth it!

I absolutely recommend going through the intern group. They may seem a bit pricey at first, but it is worth every penny. The housing is clean and well kept, most appliances are new. The apartments are also cleaned weekly which makes it really easy to maintain. They pick you up, hook you up with a sim card, get your visa ready for you. You barley have to lift a finger. The complimentary programs and dinners are also great!

The internship placement is well thought out as well, so you are likely to be placed in a company you like. They also have someone to organize social events, and give advice on all things Hong Kong, including where to get laundry done, or where to find the best happy hour. When I did my internship it was Dicky who showed us around. He is an absolute sweetheart, we all see him as more of a friend than a tour guide.

I also specifically recommend Hong Kong as a location. Beautiful city, where you can find greenery, beaches, sky scrapers, the whole package. Also you can find really high end bars, restaurants and shopping malls, but you can also find cheap local pubs or street food.

Great insight into Chinese working and social culture

The process of arriving to and staying in Shanghai was handled professionally and smoothly to the extent that I never had any issues over this last month. As a point I would recommend this experience to friends as I feel it is a genuine benefit to future aspirations through networking and actively involving myself in a different work place culture. Furthermore, the social experiences with people that I would never otherwise have met strengthens communication and social skills.

What would you improve about this program?
would be great if i could have a list of companies to choose from at the placement process

Fantastic

From the moment I applied until the time I got here, communication was great and stayed consistent. Whenever I had questions Tommy was there to help and answer. Even if I needed him to talk to someone on the phone he would do that for me. Everything is very well organized and everyone is great to hang out with and we all get along perfectly. I honestly think if I had any other intern director besides Tommy my experience wouldn’t have been the same. He has really made this whole experience more than I could ever ask for. Not only is he my director but I think of him as a close friend and will forever stay in contact. Walking away with the knowledge and experience that I know I can take into my future endeavors and career. Studio White Group is a sensational business to work at with great and very intelligent management and a great staff around the office. Great roommates! Great area to live in. Around the popular areas and restaurants. Easy to get to and from work. Metro close by. The food is fantastic. I like traveling to different areas and experiencing new flavors. The food is one of the parts that really make living in China a great experience. I was never afraid to do anything with people or by myself. Going out at night was fun, meeting the locals and even foreigners were great, and living the Chinese life is a memory I will keep forever.

The best time in my life

Experience
1. My time in London is one of the best in my life. I really enjoyed my internship and the colorful life in London. I worked in a youth center which provides housing advice to the homeless young people. As a nursing student, I got the chance to shadow the nurse in the center. The services provided by the center are unique and special. It ranged from basic services such as laundry and luggage storing to job searching and personal wellbeing. Every day, I got the chance to chat with young people with different background, some of them might have mental health histories and offending histories. However, there are 2 things in common for these young people, they are looking for a change, and they don’t want to be homeless. The communication and conflict resolution skills that I learned here are priceless for my future career and my life.
2. Besides, I got the chance to experience the exciting and colorful life in London. We had weekend parties, morning roof top beach parties and various cultural events. I am so glad that I am interning in London, a city you never get bored. If you are bored with London, you are bored with life.
3. The best thing about participating in this internship is that you can meet amazing young people from all over the world doing an incredible internship in London. They are all smart and talented. A small conversation can bring you endless insights and information about the other end of this planet.
4. The major difference between hunting an internship by yourself than through an agency like the Intergroup is that you get everything arranged and you can rely on this agency. They will help you sort out your concerns and worries.

Suggestions to applicants
1. 6 weeks program is too short for you to experience all aspects of your organization, and London. If you are financially capable and have sufficient time, I would recommend you to apply for a 3 months program.

What would you improve about this program?
I applied for this program 2 years ago. I originally chose New York as my destination. However, I was failed to match with available internships. Until one month before the start date, I was informed that no internship was available for me. It was disappointing. Then, I was placed in London. However, due to visa issues, I have to postpone my internship to this year.

Newfound Confidence

Through the Intern Group and my host company, I was able to embark on the experience of a lifetime, while gaining a newfound confidence and skills I will take with me into the job world. Immersing yourself into another culture is the best way to learn about yourself, how you interact with others, the world around you, and help you find the drive you need to succeed. The Intern Group is an entirely comprehensive program which will help you find just that; the staff members are extraordinarily helpful and friendly in making sure you are faring well in your program and living in London. The events are fun and a great start to forming a network and learning what there is to do in London. If you want to stand out in your career and travel the globe, I highly recommend applying to an Intern Group program!

What would you improve about this program?
My housing was fine, however, I heard stories about some of it being not that great for other interns. Also, more convenient housing placement closer to my internship site.
