Great teachers in a super city

I did 2 short term (6 months) one-to-one Chinese language courses through Xmandarin while living in Qingdao. The teachers were friendly and professional, I really enjoyed the classes and my Chinese improved exponentially during this time.
My requirements were a little bit different from most students as I am working full time and, in this regard, I am extremely happy with the teachers as they were able to tailor lessons to my specific needs. The majority of classes were spent preparing for my HK4 exam, but there were many classes where the teachers helped me prepare for presentations that I needed to deliver in Chinese. These were invaluable! The school also arranges regular activities and these are a lot of fun - cocktail making classes, Chinese calligraphy, group trips to good places in the city.
As for Qingdao - I love this city! And the school has a very central location close by many coffeeshops, bars and restaurants, plus a nice walk away from the ocean.

Great School in the heart of Qingdao!

Heeey! My name is Silvia, I am from Barcelona and I have been leaving in Qingdao for two years and learning Chinese at Xmandarin. I started from the very begining, I hadn't any Chinese background before joining the school, and they teached me everything. From tones to the most difficult characters. When I arrived China I couldn't say any word and now I can easy talk with my Chinese friends!
I really recommend Xmandarin school! It's a modern school in the heart of Qingdao with great teachers! They have so many small groups with different levels, so it's very easy to find the right group for you. For sure you will suit in one of their groups!
They also organize some activities for us to learn more about Chinese culture and be able to interact with other students and of course practice chinese.

Private classes at xmandarin

Hi. I am hanane from Paris. I am taking chinese classes since 3 years at Xmandarin. Although it is super hard language but the great teachers are making it smother! Teachers can speak very good English which is good for beginners! Private classes are convenient, we set up a time together with the teacher in advance and in case, they are very flexible (depending on our schedule and the teachers’s schedule Too). The school is great too, for emerging the Chinese culture. They organize activities with all the students from different nationalities! It is very cool to meet new people even after 3 years in China! For example Last week, we have been to some Kung-fu classes it was amazing! Learning a language is not just about speaking it but also learning the culture!

Very nice experience and useful course!

Hello, i am Jane from Warsaw Poland, i came to Qingdao China to study the language and get some idea about the Chinese culture, people. It was very nice to study in XMandarin Chinese language school with my friends, we are from many countries in all around the world, and we enjoyed alot the Chinese language course here, very useful, our teacher is very professtional and has passion in her teaching, also very kind to us when we made mistakes, cause to be honest, Chinese is very difficult to study.
The school is also very nice, placed in the center which just 5 mins walking from my flat, there are many cool places for us to have a tea/ coffee, take a break or talking with friends, with beautiful city high-view. The staffs are very nice and helpful as well, they supported us not only something related to our language courses, but also about our living here in China.

What was the most unfamiliar thing you ate?
It was not me but my boyfriend from French, he ate the fried scorpion on the street when we came to the tea event with the school. I cannot say that i enjoyed that kind of food, but still, it was unforgettable experience here.

Chinese class

Usually, I do not like learning a new language and I am not good at it. Moreover, speaking frankly, Chinese is a really tough one. But Shuo, the teacher, is young, kind and really good at her job. She made me raise interest towards Chinese and after all, I don't find it too bad. She is really nice and willing to help us and her way of teaching is entertaining and participatory. Moreover, the topics are quite flexible and she made the lecture based on our suggestion and what we want to learn, which is pretty good since in this way we can quickly learn vocabulary we need in the daily life (such as food, dishes, how to order, how to pay, how to buy stuff and so on). The schedule is perfect, not too long and with a nice coffee break in the middle (free coffee and tea I love it). I think I will take the course also next semester. Highly recommended! :)

Easy Learning

The courses I attended were great. I chose the 60h/individual option. It was a lot of fun to study and my teacher did a great job. I definitely recommend XMandarin for foreigners who stay a while in Qingdao but also wanna travel. The teachers are flexible in terms of shifting class. During my stay I made friends easily with other students and also through organised events. The best advantage I can even continue with my teacher back in Germany. Don’t hesitate to come to Qingdao if you are thinking about going abroad.

What was the most unfamiliar thing you ate?
The good thing about it I don't know exactly. It was tasty but I leave it like this. ;)

Learning Chinese in Qingdao

I had private courses at XMandarin for almost a year. I had a really good experience. I decide my self what I want to study, and my teacher excitingly teaches me. You decide yourself what time you want the classes, what teacher you want, and what you study. If you live in Qingdao and wants to learn Chinese, then Xmandarin is a good choice. The location is very central.

Qingdao as a city, is very beautiful. From May to October it is very nice weather to enjoy the nice beaches. Every weekend I usually went to the beach to play volleyball, frisbee and swim. I also frequently went to restaurants with friends to try all the different Chinese food. The city is very clean. There is also several places to do hiking.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Find an environment where you get to practise what you learn aat the school. If you just hang out with non-Chinese speaking people outside of class you will learn nothing.
