Learning with Value for Money

I am a native English speaker with a Masters's degree. I found this course easy to navigate. Being able to speak and write English does not mean that you instinctively know how to teach it. The course helped me to understand how foreign speakers would need to tackle grammar and how it could be taught. I learned several things that I did not know, such as zero and 1st, 2nd and 3rd Conditional sentences. I had never deconstructed this in my life! I had to do a little bit of extra learning from the web on modal verbs to understand how these work wrt the conditional. This area of the course could be clarified a little. I am also a little unsure about how I might teach a few other elements of grammar such as when to use, who, which, that. For the tense section I made my own table and set it out in a better and more logical framework, which shows that I must be a visual learner.

The section on teaching skills was thought provoking and helped me to think about my approach. Overall, the course gives an excellent introduction to the world of teaching English to speakers of other languages. It is excellent value for money.

What would you improve about this program?
Enlarge the section on teaching grammar, or alternatively make this an introductory course with an advanced grammar course to follow. This would be useful for teaching advanced French and German speakers who are very exigent on grammar questions in one to one classes
Pros
  • Easy to navigate, work through and pass
  • Affordable
Cons
  • As above

Excellent course

The course provides a good refresher on the basics of the English language and then turns its focus to providing everything you need to get started teaching English to foreign learners. The layout is very good and allows you to read through a few lessons, even if you have as little as 20 minutes to spare in your day! Great for someone starting out who may be employed and looking to change career. As long as you can spare maybe a half and hour here and there every week you can complete this course easily within the 4 month access period.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Take your time, make lots of notes, and make sure you keep up the classes. 4 months can pass very quickly.
Pros
  • Easy to work through the material.
  • Course content is very relevant

What was your funniest moment?
Question:
What was a fun and unique experience during the TESOL/TEFL course?

Amazing course and content

I am beginning work as a English teacher in Germany and was worried about my grammar ability and how to navigate classroom rules among other things. I loved how there was plenty examples on the grammar aspect of things, and furthermore great tips and tricks on how to gauge a class, motivation and how to cater to different learning styles. This course was great for building my confidence, and now after completing the course I feel ready and prepared to start my teaching journey. My boss is very pleased to see I have another great qualification on my CV. Thank you!

What was your funniest moment?
My funniest moment was when I was making a drink at a bar. I was shaking a margarita vigorously when the lid suddenly flew off and got my whole face and neck wet and sticky. The costumers had a good laugh and even left a hefty tip for my misfortune.
Pros
  • Confidence

120-Hour TESOL/TEFL

This is Jayson Benoza De Asis, a Filipino teacher here in Thailand. As a teacher for almost two decades, I believe learning is a life-long process. Regardless of your age and work experience, we should yearn to develop our teaching skills more to impart quality education to our students whether in a classroom or online setting.

Two years ago, I was traveling while scrolling my phone on my social media account when I saw on my feeds about World TESOL Academy. I read about the 120-hour TESOL/TEFL course, and after a few minutes of reading about their course, reasonable fees, and accreditation, I enrolled right away. The next day, I started studying the course modules. I was so delighted to learn day by day. Each module made me recall my lessons when I was schooling during my college days. As I dig into every unit, I learn new innovative things that are essential and relevant to different ages and various learning circumstances. It was so enjoyable and worth studying for. Moreover, I get especially excited when I take the unit assessments and final test.

Finally, there is no hassle with documentation. The staff is so friendly and accommodating. Studying at World TESOL Academy is one of the best decisions I have ever made for myself. I recommend World TESOL Academy to all aspiring teachers who want to teach the English language to non-native-speaking countries and even to seasoned educators who want to amplify their teaching approach to prepare and equip the students of this new generation globally.

What was the most unfamiliar thing you ate?
Fried worm. Exotic foods are so common here in Thailand. One day, I gave it a try with my friend.
Pros
  • 1. Very useful in my teaching profession.
  • 2. The course recalled my lessons when I was a student.
  • 3. The certificate is helpful when finding part-time or full-time job globally.

New to me was the prospect of teaching online, and this section greatly expanded my understanding and excitement towards gaining employment. I am looking forward to embarking on this new adventure of teaching and cultural interactions and thank the creators of this curriculum for helping get me on my way! Salamat (I’m in the Philippines right now 😁)

Excellent and easy

This course has helped me review most topics that as an elementary teacher sometimes forget. It has helped me in my professional career since in México city teaching English as a second language is starting to be taking into a more serious approach and with this course I was able to expand my resume and provide more strategies and teaching to my students. It was easy and reachable. Super happy to be able to have this opportunity in the country I am in without having to leave or to make it more complicated to do my TEFL/TESOL certification. Also I find it super helpful that the certification is double and can be used worldwide without having to make many more certifications.

  • Reachable and very well explained
  • You can do it on your own time

I particularly appreciated the way the information was presented—it made learning complex topics accessible and enjoyable. Overall, I was very satisfied with the course content and delivery.

If I could suggest one improvement, it would be to incorporate more real-life examples and make the experience a bit more fun. This would further enhance the practical application of the material and keep students even more engaged.
