An experience of a lifetime

This experience was definitely worth it, as a person that lives in europe, the lifestyle is completely different but very interesting. Working with the kids was awesome, they always wanted to learn new things and were really happy to spend some time with us. The other part of this experience was to discover a new culture and visit some temple or cities like Delhi or Agra with the Taj Mahal that was wonderful. I am really happy about this experience it definitely changed me as a person. I am really glad about it.

Pros
  • Discover new things
  • spending time with kids
  • learn a new culture
Cons
  • the heat

I had an amazing time with the association and the kids. The kids were so happy about our presence and give us a really warm welcome. They were really happy to learn english and math but also to show us their beauty or stitching class. The city is beautiful and the culture is also very incredible. The hospitality of the people but also how nice they were with us was super nice. If you like to travel, discover a new culture and spend time with kids this program is perfect for you. You would not be disappointed.

Pros
  • the culture
  • the food
  • the hospitality
Cons
  • the noises
  • the dirtiness of the streets
  • the heat

Incredible experience

This expensive was life changing! It was so fun to meet all the girls and help them with their work. The girls were all so nice and welcoming and were the best part of the program. I would say that I wish there was more time to do the program since it was only 2:30 minutes a day at the school but we asked for it to be more and it was still only 3 hours. I also wish we could’ve had more information on what the girls knew and were working on, because for the first few days we struggled to find our footing but then once we figured it out we were good. I wish we couldve been there more but apart from that it was great!

Pros
  • The girls
  • The transportation
  • The experience
Cons
  • The time of the program

2 Weeks Teaching in Jaipur

I recently spent 2 weeks in volunteering teaching Children both English and Maths and has an amazing experience throughout. The kids that I taught were unbelievably friendly, and were so fascinated by not only the content I was teaching, but also finding out more about myself, and my life. Volunteers provide an extraordinary opportunity for these children to experience lives that they would otherwise not know, whilst also being able to gain attention and education that they would be unable to attain.

A safe space to reach out to boys in need

I started my voluntering the day before the Holi celebration. On my first day I joined the programme that I signed up for. The day of the festival all the volunteers joined in festivities at the shelter for boys who lived on the streets. I was impressed with the facility and the eagerness of the boys to connect with the volunteers. My request to change programmes was granted. I felt that my impact as a seasoned teacher would be meaningful in this well run centre. The class teachers were supportive and the learners very responsive.

The question is of course how much impact can be made by a single volunteer within 2 weeks. The answer is that we are like beads in an armband and that the impact is collective and not individual. Brainstorm should be done on using the volunteers optimally, to make them feel useful and structure the program to have continuation of themes.

Pros
  • Excellent location of accommodation
  • Lots of free time to explore the city
  • Good support of the organization
Cons
  • Services of volunteers can be used more efficiently
  • The programme can be better structured to ensure continuation.

What an amazing experience!

This is unlike anything I have ever done before. India is so vibrant and colourful. The girls I met on the project were lovely and welcomed us into the group. Some of the things I really enjoyed were the henna, yoga, teaching a women's health class (I was so surprised at what they didn't know) and the meals at the guest house. The family at the guest house were so friendly and helpful as were the project organisers. They responded to WhatsApp messages quickly and answered any questions we had. Although the accommodation was basic, there were comfortable beds, clean sheets and air conditioning in the room. I would recommend this to anyone and encourage you to take every opportunity that is offered to allow yourself a truly immersive experience where you get to see the real India!

Pros
  • Living with an Indian family
  • Sharing information with the girls at the project
  • Exploring Jaipur safely

VWI: Women Empowerment

This was such a fulfilling program and I recommend it to anyone looking to help equip disadvantaged women / children with the skills and information they need to get by in the world.

The females in the program were very eager and excited to learn from the volunteers, which makes the experience all the more fun and uplifting! The staff / program coordinators also make you feel very welcome and comfortable.

Jaipur is a wonderful city and there was so much to see during my off time - it was a great experience!

Pros
  • Work with amazing young women
  • Beautiful city
  • Great staff
Cons
  • Accommodations could be better

Empower Women

About the women's empowerment program is really a challenge in a society where the role of women is not relevant that they believe they can be more and better.  My contribution was to try to give them a little bit of my knowledge in English and I loved the experience, these girls are receptive to volunteers and want to learn from them what they can give.
About the team that made this experience possible and did all the support, I recommend them they were just incredible
they advised, they recommended, they cared
So i just have tell  us thank so much.

Volunteering with children

It is an experience that I recommend to those who want to enrich themselves on a personal level. The organization was excellent and I spent some wonderful time with these children. During the morning they attended classes in Hindi, English and Math. The program is very complete and the organizers involve you in teaching the subjects. I truly recommend this experience to all those people who want to try something new and discover a completely different world from the one they are used to, as these realities exist and are to be fully experienced.

Pros
  • Teach English
  • Relationship with children
  • Teach Maths

Great experience

Volunteering with India is a really good organization. I applied for women empowerment project and I had my best time. The organization helps you a lot before and during your stay. Sukret is very patient and answers your questions quickly. The girls are very kind and sociable and welcomed me with enthusiasm. During the project, I talked with them taking part in sewing and beautician classes, as well as giving English lessons.
I lived for two weeks with an Indian family at the Prity guest house. They are really nice people, the food was great and the room very clean.
I am really happy to have done this experience with volunteering with india, and i will surely miss the girls so much!
