Group Classes and 1-1 at That's Mandarin

The Group class at That's Mandarin is fun and makes the class move forward quickly. It's also fun to learn with others at the same level as you and who feel the same frustration as you. The one-on-one classes at That's Mandarin really help you to prepare for testing and help you to address any weaknesses you might have.

I really enjoy learning at That's Mandarin. While living in China for the past 4 years I have had several one-on-one instructors and classes at other schools but by far That's Mandarin is the best experience I have had so far.

Pros
  • Online Platform easy to use anywhere
  • Great Instructors
  • Program tailored to your availability and level
Cons
  • 1 on 1 class is expensive
  • Not much writing on the platform

Group Classes and 1-1 at That's Mandarin

I generally like the classes and the teacher is great (lots of history, and very patient with us!) but have a few things I would change if I could! I think personally I need more homework to ensure I keep up with studying between classes; also, the content is a mix of what's relevant and not - the hanzi studies are very important but I also want to alternate with conversational or industry-relevant vocabulary. Maybe we could also have classes with more frequency to ensure we're learning faster and with more retention.

Pros
  • Great online platform
  • Teacher
  • Mix of intro + more advanced material
Cons
  • Need homework for accountability
  • Would love more tailored content
  • Maybe more frequency?

That’s mandarin

Great school, amazing teachers, beautiful space. Recommend this successfully to two of my friends. I am studying with Thats Mandarin since summer 2022 in group courses twice a week. Currently at a medium low level my Chinese has improved significantly over the past months. More importantly, I have regained and fostered my motivation to continue learning, using the language with greater confidence and increased frequency in my everyday life. That being said, I met great people and look forward to improving my language skills over the course of the upcoming months.

Pros
  • Professional
  • Affordable
  • Inspiring
Cons
  • None really

Group Classes and 1-1 at That's Mandarin

I've been studying at That's Mandarin for a few months now and have experienced both group and 1-1 classes. Both of them are great and I would recommend to anyone wanted to learn Mandarin. The course syllabus is relevant to everyday life and I found that I was improving very quickly. When I joined, I knew some grammar structures and a fair amount of words but I was not very fluent, and I could only make short sentences. After a few weeks of studying here, I could express my thoughts and ideas a lot more coherently. You don't need to make notes; everything covered in the class such as the sentences made by teachers and students as well as anything extra mentioned, is all on the e-learning platform ready for you to review whenever you have time.
I've had three teachers here and they've all been fantastic. I would highly recommend this school.

Pros
  • Don't need to make notes as everything is uploaded to their e-learning platform
  • The teachers are just fantastic in general and explain things in a way that makes sense to their students
  • The material and topics covered mean that you can start using the language straight away, nothing is irrelevant

Modern school, cozy environment and amazing teachers

It was my first time in China, before i learnt chinese language in my home country. So, I was quite nervous about studying in China. Shanghai has various school but my standards were also high. I didn't want to study language using old books or with conservative style of teaching. When i first time saw That's Mandaring school in Google I fell in love with environment of this school. I cannot wait to visit this school and check everything personally.
I didn't regret. Coffee, nice terrace and friendly people helped me to make decision.
Before my first class I was quite nervous but everything was just perfect. Friendly classmates and teacher helped me to feel comfortable.
As for teacher, from the first class all my fears about strict teacher with conservative style were gone. During the class teacher help you to dive into the new topic and vocabulary. So during the class you will already know how to use new words.
And do not afraid to ask questions :D
That's Mandarin school will not only give you amazing learning experience but community as well!

Pros
  • Modern school
  • Effective style of teaching
  • convenient study platform
Cons
  • Time flies too quick during the class T T

That's Mandarin

I've really enjoyed the last few years studying at That's Mandarin. I've tried 4-5 schools and That's Mandarin have the most engaging classes, the most passionate and caring teachers and the best online tool for in-class learning.

During class, I appreciate the freeform nature of the digital "whiteboard" where the teacher can write notes. I find it more valuable than just clicking through slides. Outside of class, the videos, audio, and practice games back it easy to do some further study.

I expect to be with them for many years to come!

Pros
  • Friendly teachers who really commit themselves
  • A helpful online tool to facilitate remote learning
  • Flexibility in scheduling classes
Cons
  • Online tool can be a little slow and confusing at times

learning mandarin

I have enjoyed learning Mandarin. My classmate and I can always be interactive and encouraged to speak up. Our teacher Wan is patient, kind, and positive. Her personality makes us very motivated. I also like other staff members at That's Mandarin. I feel they are friendly and welcoming students.
I am satisfied with the contents, they introduce some words and phrases relating to daily conversation, and I personally like the short video in each section. That helps me learn how to respond to someone else.
The website is also useful. I can review and check the meanings on that website, which is helpful.

Reccommended for various level students

As I want to learn relatively practical and business-level Chinese, my teacher always prepares the appropriate materials with various topics and we read and discuss the articles.
Discussion is always exciting and I learn a lot of vocabulary and expressions from them.
I usually make flashcards after classes and memorize them. After one year of training, my vocabulary got much more abundant and my colleague praised me that my Chinese improved quite well as a result of discussions in the classes.
I'm enjoying learning here.

Pros
  • Flexibility based on student's needs
Cons
  • 1 on 1 class is expensive
