Australia 2018

My time spent at Australia Walkabout Wildlife Park and Sydney with loop aboard was top-notch. Having the opportunity to be surrounded by the amazing Australian wildlife on a daily basis and work with the knowledgeable staff was truly a once in a life time opportunity. The vets that accompanied us were inspirational and willing to help and teach at any given moment. The loop aboard and walkbout staff helped make my Australian adventure one to be remembered and I went home feeling inspired and grateful for all that I had the chance to learn and partake in.

ABW 2018

Participating in the ABW was a great opportunity to get the most out of my visit to Australia. Along with the College Vet Program, the ABW aloud me to tour around Sydney and area and get a chance to visit the must see and do attractions while in the area! I am so happy I took part in the bonus week as it let me experience more of the country, culture, sites, and make great friends and memories in the process.

I had the BEST time

Going on this trip was an AMAZING experience! Being able to live/ understand a different culture was eye opening. I learned so much about elephants; the information I have now, I am able to relay to others and spread awareness. I am grateful to have gone on this trip, I recommend that anyone who is on the fence about going... JUST GO! The class was great. Working with the elephants was a fun time. We had so many opportunities to be hands on with the elephants. Once Dr. Erica taught us something, she let us have at it, which was great!

The best way to end a trip

The elephant bonus week was a perfect way to end my Thailand trip with Loop Abroad.
During the week I was able to experience the real village culture of Thailand as well as getting experience with treating and caring for younger elephants.
The village that my group stayed in was filled with kind people who were happy to see us and who appreciated us helping them care for their elephants for the week.

Best Decision of my Year

The 2 weeks I got to spend in Chiang Mai Thailand were the best 2 weeks of my year and even life. The amount of hands on learning that we were offered at the dog clinic as well as ENP were very beneficial. My entire group was able to do things that we would have never been able to do back home.
The Loop staff that were made to teach us and guide us were incredibly friendly and helped us every step of the way, from having someone meet my group in New York and staying with us all the way to Thailand until the program was done.
I couldn't reccomend this program enough, Loop Abroad has done an amazing job at creating a fun, safe and educational program for prevet students or for students who just like that type of adventure and work.

My experience was amazing...

I enrolled in the program after a friend of mine had completed it the year before. I am so, SO glad that I did. My time spent in Thailand has been fun, educational, and incredibly special. I feel so lucky to have been a part of a program that's main focus is being a positive force. Everything we did benefited not only ourselves, but also the surrounding communities. LOOP took it's time when deciding which programs were worthy. I will absolutely be talking about this experience for the rest of my life!

Amazing Experience with Unique Wildlife

My trip to Australia with Loop Abroad was a one-of-a-kind experience. I learned so much about Australian wildlife and veterinary medicine in general. Both the Loop Abroad staff and the Walkabout Wildlife Park staff were incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. I got hands-on experience with animals I would never get the chance to handle at home, such as dingoes, echidnas, wombats, and more. The mid-program trip to Sydney was a great cultural experience, and the behind-the-scenes tour at the Taronga Zoo was an incredible educational opportunity. I’m so glad I took this trip and would recommend it to anyone interested in veterinary medicine and/or conservation.

What would you improve about this program?
My only suggestion would be to have an extra day or two in Sydney, but I believe that is a change Loop is already looking at making for future programs!

I loved this trip!

As soon as I heard about Loop Abroad in Thailand, I knew I had to go. And I was definitely not disappointed when I got there. During my first week, we spent time in downtown Chiang Mai working at a small animal clinic providing services for the stray animals of Thailand. I learned so much that I can apply at home at my clinic job! We also got to explore the city, try lots of foods, see many temples, and go ziplining! It was so much fun. During our second week, we went to Elephant Nature Park, and it was such a wonderful experience. We got to hang out with the elephants in one way or another every day, and I have never been so in awe of an animal before. My favorite part was doing the elephant vet rounds and actually helping with some procedures on the elephants. This trip was a trip of a lifetime for sure!

Elephant Bonus Week = Best Week of my Life!

If I’m being honest, I was a bit wary when I found out that the elephant bonus week was in a different location in Thailand, in Surin Province. I felt safe during my first two weeks in Chiang Mai and I was worried about living with a host family. But the bonus week was so incredible that I would truly recommend it to anyone! It’s so unique and special to be able to live with the host families in their small village and work with the elephants everyday. The families in Surin were so thankful that we were there and I’ve never been surrounded by so many happy people. If you’re even considering doing the elephant bonus week, I say go for it!

PARADISE!

DO THE MARINE BONUS WEEK!!!!! This week didn’t really apply to vet school.. but it was my favorite. It’s so much fun! The island is easily the most beautiful place I have ever been to. Getting scuba certified is so cool and the dive instructors are amazing (Jan is the best, so you’re lucky if you get him). This week will open up your eyes to a lot of the sad reality going on in our oceans and you’ll come home a new person, I promise. You’ll take recycling and saving our planet to the next level after learning everything about marine conservation. After the dives every day you have a lot of freedom to eat where you want, shop, and explore the island. The dorms you’ll be staying in are brand new and so nice, with air conditioning! Everything is so relaxed this whole week, you’re on island time. Highly suggest this bonus week! It’s only an extra 1300 or so, you’re already in Thailand for 2 weeks so just stay down for the extra fun!!
