Thailand College Veterinary Service Program

I do not have enough amazing things to say about this program and trip. I walked away with practical veterinary skills and lifelong memories (and new best friends)! To anybody looking for a pre-veterinary study abroad program, Loop Abroad is the best. They made sure the trip went smoothly and that everyone got one of the best experiences of their lives. This is one experience I cannot wait to talk about in my hopeful vet school interviews and with friends and family for the rest of my life. Both the week spent at the dog rescue clinic and at Elephant Nature Park were absolutely amazing and filled with many adventures. I would take this trip all over again if I could and can't wait to help others at my school travel through Loop Abroad too.

Add a bonus week if possible! You won't regret it.

BEST. EXPERIENCE. EVER.

Loop Abroad offers an amazing opportunity to get hands-on experience with more than just cats and dogs. They give you the chance to get up close and personal with some amazing elephants and their support staff is amazing! There wasn’t a single moment that I felt unsafe and I am so thankful to have been given the opportunity that I did to go on tho trip. The housing was better than what I expected and the facilities were amazing! The Elephant Nature Park will always have a special place in my heart because of all the amazing work they do there. Everyone I met in Thailand, whether they worked for Loop Abroad or not, was so kind and our leaders were always really encouraging! It was a once in a lifetime experience that I will cherish forever!

What would you improve about this program?
If there was one thing I would improve about the program, it would be to explore the city a little more. We spent a lot of time in the city for dinner but I would’ve liked to have done a little more exploring while I was over there.

Best two weeks ever

I was so hesitant about going at first. I first learned about loop when a staff member came and spoke at my college. It was something I was very interested in doing, but wasn’t sure of completely. I applied and went this summer and it is a trip that I will never forget. Staff is so friendly and supportive. We were craving American sweets about halfway in the second week, so our food went out of the way to take us to get ice cream.
The experience is one in a lifetime. I made same amazing friends that I have kept in touch with and have great stories to tell to friends and family.
It isn’t only work while you are there. You do get lectures, but they also take you out to visit temples or activities. I got to go zip lining.
I really do recommend going on this trip and learning a little bit about conservation as well as Thai culture!

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Embrace it. Try now things. I can be a somewhat picky eater but I did not limit myself here. I tried so many different Thai foods here.

Amazing program! Well worth it!

When I first herd about this program I was very sceptical, was it real or was it just a scam? After I had emailed Loop they responded back to me within a day and they where very helpful. I had emailed them constanly through the months getting ready for the trip and every time they answered me back and always had helpful things to say. Anything you needed to know they knew the answer. Once the trip had started, it couldn't have gotten any better! The people where always there for you whether it was your trip leader or your Thai tour guide! The vet experience was amazing and defently would not be able to find it any where else. This was my first time out of the country and Loop made me feel right at home! Highly recommend! I will defently be doing more programs with them in the future!

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
If you are a future traveler, I only have 1 piece of advice. Do not go into this program thinking you know what is going to happen and what to expect. I promise that it will be completely different from anything you know from back home. But if you come with an open mind, your experience will be that much better.

Amazing experience

I loved going on the trip with people from my university as well as people from different states since the trip ended with friendships I could carry on after the trip. The staff and every one involved were incredible, I formed friendships with many of the staff members and felt they were the perfect fit for the trip. I only wish there were more scholarships available to help with the costs, but appreciate the fundraising tips. The process of signing up for credit was somewhat confusing, but that was mostly the fault of my university. The food, activities, people were all amazing and every part of this trip shaped my life and changed my perspective on a lot of things. I learned so much about conservation, veterinary medicine, and it was taught it an exciting and engaging way.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Fully embrace everything you take part in. Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there and try new things. The trip sounds long, but feels short so soak up every minute of it. Network and make connections. Don’t let little conflicts that may come up change the way you represent your university or country. Be open minded!

Loop Abroad Amazon Veterinary Service Trip 2019

This was my third trip with Loop Abroad, my first being in 2017. I had a blast, loop abroad is great at making you feel safe if you’re traveling by yourself or a first time traveler. I find the trips both very fun and a great learning experience! Both the program staff and location staff are super friendly! This location is great for people interested in both the conservation side and clinical side of the veterinary field. Loop abroad is a great program for making friends while traveling. I loved the white river rafting, it was so much fun! You also get to vistit a local chocolate plantation that is about a 15minute caneo ride from runa wasi, you get to watch and learn how chocolate is made. The best part is getting to try the freshly made chocolate afterwards!

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
For the Ecuador program I recommend high length gumboots and bug spray with a higher deet %

An amazing trip!

I had such a great time in Australia this summer. Loop Abroad provides the perfect balance of working hard while also having lots of fun! I learned so much from the veterinarians, all of whom were willing and excited to teach us. This experience made me even more excited to start vet school this fall! We gained invaluable insight on what it's like to be a zoo/wildlife veterinarian. Exploring Sydney was also a great highlight of the program. We saw iconic sights, like the Opera House and went to Bondi Beach. I would highly recommend anyone to participate in a Loop Abroad trip, it's the perfect adventure! This was my second Loop Abroad trip, and I have no doubt that putting a Loop Abroad trip on my resumé helped me get accepted to vet school.

Veterinary Service: South Africa

The majority of my trip included staying at FeraCare Wildlife Centre and then a weekend spent at National Kruger Park. The traveling was long, but totally worth it. All the experiences were amazing and you meet a lot of new people from all over. The days were structured and you had a plan for the whole trip, which was really nice. We didn't get to do much outside of FeraCare, but FeraCare staff is extremely hospitable. There were about 30 people in my group. We were split into two group for the living arrangements due to the size of the houses. The living situation was nicer than I expected it to be. The only thing hard about being on the farm the whole time was the access to water. We were fed breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The food was decent, but there is also the opportunity to go shopping at a grocery store on the first day and half way through to get food that you may prefer better.

What would you improve about this program?
The information you get prior to the trip is not that informative, but everything worked out well. We did not get as much hands on animal experience as I thought we would, but we still got to be around animals frequently.

Loop abroad

This program was amazing not only was I able to learn so much but the friends that I made alone the way are still very close to my heart. It was nice being surrounded by other students with the same passion as myself. The food was amazing and the leaders of the program were extremely friendly and helpful, it was very sad having to leave them at the airports when we traveled back home. I never once felt unsafe in their care. I was able to learn so many things on this trip that I will never forget. It was a very eye opening experience to see what truly goes on in another country first hand and see how it effects the communities. I was also very greatful to be able to interact with so many of the locals and loved how friendly they were. I would recommend this program to anyone!

Best Post Grad Trip

FeraCare is an absolutely incredible organization that is doing tangible things to protect and conserve wildlife. Loop abroad did an impeccable job of showcasing Feracare’s impact, history and environment in an engaging way. Loop abroad staff was incredibly accommodating when it came to ensuring I was getting proper meals (I’m vegan), and they were emotionally supportive during all of the trials that come with being away from friends and family for so long. This was a trip of a lifetime and I would recommend it to anyone who’s looking for an authentic and worthwhile way to explore wildlife conservation. I made some lifelong friends that I’ve already reconnected with back home. I also learned to pay attention to the things that I thought I couldn’t live without, that I ended up living without. It made me reevaluate what I deem necessary in my life.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Pay attention to the things you take for granted back in your hometown.
