Enjoy Having a Chat? You'll like this

I had an absolutely fantastic time doing Angloville in Poland. There were some incredible teenagers on the junior programme - I was so proud of what they accomplished in only a week, particularly my mentees who did so well with their presentations.

The other NS volunteers were also brilliant - we had the best time all together, and I was so lucky to have met people from all over the world! It helped that we had an excellent coordinator who was easy to talk to if we had any issues!

There were water balloon fights, card games, cute campfire songs, pizza-making, learning what we can eat in nature... the whole experience was just epic. I would love to come back at some point in the future - and hope to meet with my fellow NS volunteers too!

What was the most unfamiliar thing you ate?
There was pasta with strawberry sauce. It was so... pink. SO. PINK.

3 amazing weeks

I did 3 programs in total. 2 weeks in Poland and 1 week in Czech Republic.
It was such a nice experience. Having sessions 1 on 1 with the participants were always interesting and usually fun. The program is well structured and it's quite easy to help the participants gain confidence in speaking english as second language. We got to discover new people from different cultures and it was nice to have social times after our day in the evening. It's nice and rewarding to be a mentor, to help and to see your mentee progressing and doing his presentation at the end of the week. For us, native speakers, it's awesome to visit different venues in different European countries and in the meantime helping people in their quest. I really enjoyed the experience and really hope I can go back next year.

What would you improve about this program?
After a whole week people get to know each other and get closer. There is always a time where we exchange adresses. There should be a period for email exchanges and photos time cause nowadays everybody likes to take photos. Also in the Czech program there was no exercise of pronunciation and I think it was missing. We did it 2 weeks in Poland and that exercise is really helping them, it should be in the Czech programs too.

Met lots of great people

Angloville was really fun, and u met lots of cool people. Downsides where that they don't seem to screen people very well, and there were some strange people (both volunteers and participants). Overall though it was really fun, and I would definitely do it again in a different country. A great way to learn about the culture! Not a fan that they force you to write a review in order to get your refund back. Or that there is a minimum of seven hundred and fifty characters needed in the review, since I have already said everything that I want to say. But still, happy that I did it. I would recommend getting WhatsApp before you come to Europe. Everyone uses it here. And you can easily get a SIM card, which has no roaming charges in all of the EU.

What was the most unfamiliar thing you ate?
The food was really good. Poland has a lot of good soups.

Best experience of my life !

Me and my boyfriend spent 3 weeks in Angloville this may. Gdansk, Poland - Wroclaw, Poland - Brno, Czech Republic. We met so many AMAZING people, native speakers and polish or Czech participants. They are now friends for life. Yes the days are long in Angloville but really funny and you have a lot of pauses to rest. The food and accomodation are provided for free and are perfect. You speak english with the participants to help them improve their confidence. You see the evolution of the participants english rise over the week. It is truely a magical experience ! I recommend Angloville to everyone who likes to meet new people and travel for really cheap ! Thanks for the amazing experience i'll be back for sure ! I made so many new friends for life !

What would you improve about this program?
I would not ask native speakers to choose their accomodation between the venues in advence. Let them go with the flow. Of our 3 weeks, we stepped in with participants to go to the next city and had to cancel all our premade plans. It cost us a lot to change plans. We had to book hôtels or Airbnbs 4 months in advance without knowing where the meeting point was ...

Overall great experience!

Very easy volunteer position. I've done many English camps, and this was by far the easiest. A schedule and all materials are provided. Each session is only 50 minutes, so there's a 10 min break between activities. There is a nice long break after lunch, so you can even take a nap! Start time is 10 am, so you can sleep in or go for a morning run, which is what I did. The venue was a gorgeous 1600's estate with a rich history. It was located in the Polish countryside. It was a lovely, little quiet town. Running around the town in the mornings was like something out of a movie. I also made great, lifelong friends. Don't think about it twice. Go volunteer for Angloville now. It's so worth the investment of your plane ticket. I'm completely happy with Angloville.

I recommend the Anglo-TEFL Scholarship with Angloville

I participated in three Poland-based Angloville programmes in order to fulfil the requirements of the Anglo-TEFL scholarship. Combined with an online 120-hour Advanced TEFL Course, this experience has proved invaluable for someone like myself, who is interested in pursuing TEFL-related job roles in the future and is therefore currently interested in voluntary situations that primarily involve English language practice with and teaching of adults and/or youth.

I, along with other Native English Speaker volunteers, provided one-to-one and group conversational practice and activities for professional adults.

I really enjoyed meeting, working with, assisting and befriending people from a wide variety of professional and cultural backgrounds, broadening my personal perspective whilst gaining practical and theoretical knowledge/experience that will benefit me in my future job search.

Unforgettable Experience!

I absolutely loved the Angloville program in Hungary. It was an awesome experience with unforgettable memories. It was exciting from the very first day and only got better the more everyone got to know each other. There were jokes and laughs as well as the serious business of "teaching" English. By teaching I mean having great conversations with professionals who were able to share their countries' way of doing things which is exactly what I wanted out of the program. I learnt so much about Hungarian culture and have left with so many good friends in Hungary!
I would definitely recommend anyone who wants to visit Hungary or any of the other locations to apply, as you will learn a lot more about the culture than if you are just a tourist in a big city. You will get as much out of the program as you put in, and being involved in almost every activity made it such a rich experience for me.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Get involved! This program was amazing and I took every opportunity to be as involved as possible which made it such a rich experience. I learnt so much about Hungary and made some awesome friends in the process.

Bachledowka May 25 - 31 Poland

This has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my young life. On May 25 (incidentally my 76 Birthday) I met a group of the NES (Native English Speakers) and our 2 Angloville Coordinators for a tour of Krakow. It was immediately evident that these were all interesting people from different countries and life experiences. The following day we met the entire group at Bacheldowka - a beautiful resort in the Tatra mountains. Fifteen very keen Polish participants and 15 NES. It was intense with 7 sessions a day, some one on one, some two on two (my favorite) and group activities. As the week progressed the emerging confidence of the Polish Participants became very evident with the very rewarding for all Presentations. Each Polish Participant gave a 5 minute presentation in English that they had designed and researched with the aid of their assigned NES Mentor. The entire group of 30 beamed in the glow of this accomplishment. Kudos to our Coordinators as well Arrvind and Evona and thank you to them for my Birthday Cake and the extra care because I had a terrible cold for the entire week. I'll do it again - probably in the fall

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?
I would not start out with a sore throat which progressed to a terrible cold and sinus infection. I would want to enjoy every moment of the interaction, the meals and the social activities.

Expectations Exceeded!

I spent three weeks in a row on programs in Czech Republic and Poland. I had so much fun, it did not seem like work most of the time, although the days were long. I really enjoyed chatting with the participants who taught me as much as I taught them! I love the concept Angloville has of improving confidence rather than nitpicking on grammar and so on. Some participants had come back after doing the program before so that shows their appreciation for the methods used. I have the same philosophy of teaching in my classroom.

The venues are in absolutely stunning settings where I got much needed green therapy.
Hopefully, I will get to join the program again in the future.
Big thanks to Angloville for the experience AND for making my birthday so special even though a few days prior, I didn't know a single person who was to celebrate with me!

What would you improve about this program?
It would be nice if we could have our own rooms as some rooms are really small and people need to do laundry by hand-washing and get rest. That said, I enjoyed the roommates I had!

The one week we got lots of conflicting info regarding times, schedule, etc. They kept changing which was confusing and not efficient for anyone. Expectations were not always clear.

Some of the materials have grammatical errors/misspelling which should not be acceptable

Could eliminate waste: no plastic folders, no need for three nametags/lanyards for people like me who did three in a row.

**Highest regard to Aaron and his Czech coordinator (can't spell his name offhand) who were fantastic!**

A wonderful experience to interact with people on a personal level

This is a wonderful way to get to interact with people in a way no other experience in Europe allows. Spending time with someone one on one and in a group, talking, playing creating, experiencing all that entails in learning a language is incredible. I travelled all through Europe, staying in both big cities and small towns and villages. I loved seeing the medieval structures, castles, rivers, alps, housing of all different shapes and sizes. I went on tours, learning the history so many amazing places. But what I didn’t get to do was meet the people of the areas, learning about their individual lives, what they do during their daily lives, what they think about things, how they feel about things. Angloville allowed me to do just that, getting that interaction with people, and completing my adventure in Europe!

What would you improve about this program?
It would help to have all the information and time schedules regarding transportation, before booking flights.
Also it would help if recruiters had all the information and answers to questions, since they are the person you interact with prior to going.
