Angloville

Angloville is a way to improve your CV, meet new people and work with children. It is a great experience, but it is hard work.
Working with young people is a fun way to spend the summer. The co-ordinators are all lovely and friendly and the other mentors are motivating.
The programme is well structured and you always have help if you need. The kids are well behaved, listen, engage and respond to your lessons.
The day is broken up with lessons and games so the times passes quickly
I would recommend Angloville if you are interested in teaching or working with young people. The location was peaceful and the accomodation was nice. Food was ok and snacks were provided.
You do not need previous teaching experience to do the programme and everyone helps you along the way

Great way to spend time in europe and to meet some great people

For me, Angloville was a great two weeks of getting to know great people from all over the world in a beautiful venue all completely free! The hotel had lots of great facilities like two swimming pools, a spa and sauna, and a tennis court.
As well as a really enjoyable time Angloville gave me the opportunity to take some time out and experience something completely different from my life back at home and even some insite into working in education or with young adults.
The programe is split into speaking sessions with the participants which are very relaxed times to chat and practice English, the free time where you can do whatever you want and group time where everyone takes part in a usually fun activity!
I would defiatly recommend this to solo travellers looking for a relaxed couple of weeks in Europe and to students on a budget.

Wonderful experience with the opportunity of meeting some great people

Wonderful experience and wonderful month spent in Poland. The people you meet, ranging from coordinators, mentors, to the local Polish students are absolutely excellent. Never got bored with the 3 programmes attended and made some good friends.

The programmes I have attended were all junior programmes - meaning the teenagers I faced will be between 11-18 years old. As a young adult, it was perfect for myself and for the Polish participants as we have a lot in common to chat about, and enjoy very similar things. The hardest part of the programme is not about speaking - but the ending of the programme when you leave the friends you have made!

I strongly recommend volunteering with Angloville for those who are interested in teaching and don't know how to start, or just individuals who wants some great fun whilst teaching!

A great opportunity to meet & network with locals -- and other travelers!

This was the fifth time I joined an Angloville session. I find that each time my experience gets better & better. I found Angloville to be really prepared, providing ample topics for discussion w/ appropriate idioms & vocabulary. Myself, I especially enjoy the informal conversations that happen during breaks & mealtime. I've done early morning walks with local participants ... I've enjoyed late-night debates ... and then there's the spontaneous discussions that always occur during meal time. Each Angloville week I've met locals with whom I've ended up keeping in touch with afterwards. Then, there are the other English-speaking volunteers -- wow, that's been great, too, the networking, sharing of travel stories. The food's fine, the accommodation is great -- and, if there's any hiccups, the Angloville coordinators are right there to help us sort things out... I highly recommend it!

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?
Wow, I got involved in as many "extra" activities as I could, to network & make new friends -- but then suddenly the week was over & I realized there was this person or that with whom I had not yet connected! Generally speaking, you typically get "extra free time" during the day as a break -- if I did it again, I'd try to push myself to Get Involved even "more" than I did ... because I really* did meet some nice people & the potential for good conversation, is certainly there!

Angloville Prague

One of the most pleasant, heartwarming and endearing volunteer opportunities there are. Nothing was more insightful than seeing kids immerse themselves and improve their spoken communication. Building so many rapports has taught me a lot about myself and skill set whilst simultaneously, improving the kids/junior confidence. An excellent opportunity I would recommend to anyone and everyone. The children and faculty staff were incredibly hilarious, eager to learn and very spontaneous. The programme is exceptional and excellent in its aptitude and capability to educate children in a very different way, through alternative curriculum, as opposed to an ordinary class room environment. Seeing them thrive and comprehend and learn had to be the highlight of the programme itself.

What was the most unfamiliar thing you ate?
Dumplings - a lot of foods were called dumplings! It wasn't just the typical oriental food. Got to love a few dumplings haha!

Angloville in Poland

Angloville was an incredibly rewarding experience! I not only had to chance to spend 3 weeks in Poland for free and to practice my English teaching skills, but also meet the most amazing people from all over the world (both native English speakers and Polish participants) and live some amazing experiences in a truly beautiful country. The venues I visited were all completely different, but equally wonderful, such as a palace, a hotel in the mountains, and a resort on the edge of a lake (which we could also swim in!). Food was also very accommodating to vegan diets, whilst this varied e.g. living of potatoes and veg for lunch and dinner for one week, at other venues I was made vegan pierogi!

The kids and juniors that I had the pleasure of meeting made the trip even more worthwhile and I would highly recommend Angloville and consider volunteering again in the future.

What would you improve about this program?
The return to the city on the Saturday / travelling to other venues was rather unsafe in regards to arriving in a brand new city close to midnight.
A small contribution to the cost of Saturday night hostels would also be incredibly appreciated as this adds up and we are working for free, despite the participants paying a lot of money to attend the camp.

A Completely New Experience

I volunteered with AngloVille for three weeks this summer on junior programmes in Poland and I had the most amazing time.

The entire experience, from city tours to meeting so many new people (mentors, co-ordinators and participants alike) was so jam packed and full of fun that for an extravert like me who loves to have a laugh and a chat this was such a wonderful time. It involved a week full of speaking sessions, cultural sessions, games and social time, as well as meal times and free time where we were encouraged to speak with participants as much as possible. The time spent with people makes it hard to say goodbye on the final day, but the fun you have during the week and the memories made are worth it.

Out of the experience you get free food and accommodation at the venues, as well as access to some of the facilities. You also get a city tour with lunch provided before the beginning of each programme, which is a grate way to meet the people you will be spending a week with. In return you offer your English skills - all sessions are friendly and not 'lessons' but conversations which relieves pressure. With the junior programme the co-ordinators try and add in as much fun as possible, and break the day up with games and activities, but you find that often the participants simply enjoy conversations with you.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
You get what you give. Put in the effort and you will be rewarded. My suggestion would be to get stuck in with conversations and activities: make a fool of yourself in a game, ask funny questions in speaking sessions, learn about the local culture and teach them about yours, help put yourself and others at ease throughout the programme and you will see how much it benefits you and others!

Angloville review

I did three separate programs on Angloville between December and July. Each one was fairly different in terms of venue, group sizes and atmosphere but each was a rewarding experience. Angloville is a program I would recommend for someone looking to volunteer abroad, especially those who love meeting people from other countries and cultures. With that said, it is a challenge - participants are expected to mentor English learners, some with lower levels than others, and by the end of the week help them improve their confidence in speaking English. The days can be long and sometimes the learning materials provided can stump you. This, combined with the fact you are staying at a small hotel in a remote area of a foreign country, can be a bit jarring in the beginning. However, there is a jovial atmosphere on the programs, and every evening a chance to unwind with the other English speakers as well as the natives. By the end of the week, you should feel that it was worth it, and hopefully have made a few friends. I hope to be back in the near future.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Be prepared to take things seriously, because a week of structured conversation modules can be fairly intense, but the participants are paying for and expecting to meet English speakers who can genuinely help them improve.

anglovillie review

my time on anglovilie was amazing probably one of the best weeks of my life it was such unique and rewarding experience. Being a native speaker on the program taught me a lot about myself but also my English and how I can better improve my communication skills that I can take into any situation .
it was amazing to see how the confidence in the children grew over the space of a week . the week was well structured with enough free time to teaching ratio there was also lots of engaging activities that really helped to kids to come out of there shells and as the week progressed we all started to spend our free time together it was really enjoyable to learn
about a diffrent culture . in addition to this the accommodation and food was all brilliant

What would you improve about this program?
there is not alot of things that need to be improved however I would extend the course from one week to two as the kids become a lot more confident and then are not scared about asking questions that might have been to scared to ask previously

Angloville Krakow Junior

Angloville junior program in Krakow was a great experience for someone like me looking to gain initial experience teaching english. The students were great, staff were great, venue was great all in a relaxed atmosphere.

There was the freedom and flexibility to be yourself and design your own strategies/interactions which the students enjoyed. The vast majority of students were of good nature and were eager to engage with the program. The coordinators were very approachable and ran the program with good scheduling and cohesion.

The polish participants really valued ups killing their english and appreciated the opportunity to apply their knowledge in conversation (a strategy that they felt they lacked in their english education at school). I would highly recommend spending time in Poland.

What was the most surprising thing you saw or did?
We had the opportunity to see an abandoned castle outside of Warsaw that was very interesting to see, near a very old town. I appreciated the opportunity to see such a historical site and tour a local town.
