Angloville - Poland

Angloville is a great opportunity to meet some incredible people from around the world, both the other Native Speakers and junior participants. I did 3 programmes leaving from different cities (Gdańsk, Warsaw & Łódź) which allowed me to see and learn a lot about Poland.

I only did Juniors programmes, but the participants really seemed to enjoy and engage with the activities throughout each week. I did find that the field trip activities were a bit of a gamble but overall, the people are what make the week & experience, and everyone was great!

Although each day was jam-packed with sessions, the days weren’t as tiring as I expected, and I really enjoyed getting involved in the games & hanging out/playing cards with the other mentors in the evenings.

What was your funniest moment?
The talent shows, a tie between being recruited into a dance squad and whistle choir.

Prague, Warsaw, Wrocław Review

I completed a three week, back-to-back programme spanning Hotel Astra (about an hour outside of Prague), Lipowy Most (near the border of Belarus, 4 hours from Warsaw) and Hotel Chojnik (in the Polish mountains, about two hours from Wrocław). Both Astra and Chojnik offered excellent service and food, though the staff at Lipowy were a little less keen on the Angloville participants and mentors across the week we were there for. Overall, Angloville itself was well-run and fun - all the participants seemed to enjoy themselves, engaging well with each other and the mentors. The activities were fun and well-structured, though it would have been nice to have the same structure for individual speaking sessions. It would also have been nice to have been able to go on more day trips and outings, as there is only one field

What would you improve about this program?
More structured speaking sessions - eg topics to discuss, planned activity - and more day trips or outings.

Well Worth It

As an enthusiastic traveller who wishes to meet a pool of very driven and intelligent citizens of the host country, then I definitely recommend Angloville. Excellently run and absolutely engaging by meeting an array of incredibly interesting students ("participants"). Just hone your conversation skills to be best prepared for that is your task for several hours each day. Good luck!

What would you improve about this program?
more varied and fun one on one or, even better two on two activities, for it seemed that the participants quickly tired of the one on one conversations that lacked dynamic or interesting or fun goals.

Angloville Experience in Poland

It was great to go back to Poland after a 40 year gap! Obviously a lot had changed ,but the Polish people were as lovely as ever and were very appreciative and welcoming.

I was still enchanted by Warsaw and appreciated the opportunity to discover more of the city on my own ( before and after the Angloville Program).

Now that my children are older and family holidays are less feasible, Angloville gave me an opportunity to see something of the world on my own. I met some wonderful people and have made some great memories.

I am a teacher and it is good to do something purposeful during the summer break. My husband is working and it's certainly better to travel than to sit around and wait for him to come home.

I can't wait for next year's schedule to be published so that I can sign up for more!

Thank you Angloville.

What would you improve about this program?
I think it would be better if vounteers were accomodated in single rooms as the experience is very intense and everyone appreciates a little privacy.

The PEOPLE Make it WORK!

My experience with the Polish Participants in my 4 different programs this summer was 100% positive. Wonderful country and soulful people! With my fellow Native Speakers, about 90% positive. Some judgemental folks showed up, others not nearly as qualified as they should be. My Co-ordinators were all sincere (both Native Speaker and Polish) and by and large did an excellent job. The pre-printed sheets of "suggested" dialogue were not the best, and often contained grammatical and spelling errors. As for the corporate people running this, they should be ashamed of themselves for what the charge the Polish Participants, given how little they pay the Co-ordinators, and that the hardest working folks (people like me) are volunteers--a fact Corporate tries to hide from the Polish Participants (shameful). They are raking in money exploiting others, and provide precious little in physical support (markers, papers, pads, etc.) to help the program run. What makes it work are the BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE that are brought together who truly CARE about what they are doing. I challenge any of the corporate folks in Poland to meet with me before next year's programs to improve, as I will definitely volunteer again.

What would you improve about this program?
Solo rooms for the Volunteers. Better food. More Clarity in instructions before arriving in Europe. Fairer costs to the Polish Participants.

An opportunity not to be missed

This experience was amazing and allowed to do thing which I had never done before. Eg led a dance class , presenting in Hungarian , travelling on my own etc. Also it allowed to get valuable experience which is will need to achieve my dream job. The activities were very enjoyable and fun with a wide variety of games etc. The co-ordinaries were very friendly and organised while be very approachable. The other volunteers at time were very professional and were great teachers that the students loved. The facilities in my first two camps were excellent where we had a pool , squash courts etc whereas the second camp was a bit limitless but I was informed that this will change in the near future. The second venue was very unique and eco-friendly which was great to see.

What would you improve about this program?
the communication at Angloville is not ideal. Such as not being told where the bus meeting point where and also not being told that there is the option to stay at the venues if we are doing two weeks in the same place.

One of the most fun summers I've spent!

I participated in Angloville for the summer by myself and at the end of my program had gained a few lasting friendships with fellow mentors and participants and had the time of my life! I would highly recommend this program for those who love travelling, meeting new people and experiencing other cultures. It's also a good way to gain some experience since you would be mentoring others throughout the program. If you are interested in teaching English abroad this would be an excellent program for you as you are gaining teaching experience (although there is no classroom setting) and you have the chance to get your TEFL certification at the end of the program. For me personally I've learnt some new things which I am certain to incorporate into my teachings since I am currently working as an English teacher. I must say I was really pleased with the program and had an unforgettable experience doing it and now I'm looking forward to my next one!

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Come with an open mind, have fun and leave with one of the most memorable experiences you've ever had.

Angloville interesting experience

Angloville is an interesting experience which I did in Poland that I do believe everyone should experience. However, it is very dependent on the mentor, coordinator and participants that are on your programme can make it good or bad. Stay away from the hotel Lipowy Most travelling from Warsaw.

It gets more interesting when you are ‘different’ from what is considered normal in Poland.
Overall it a very culturally enriching programme and you will have a nice time if you choose to do this programme. I would recommend trying the programme in Malta, Czech Republic and Ireland.

Meet nice people and participants for the most part are lovely and want to be there. I’m my opinion, the immersive programme work and is beneficial to the children. If you can do the kids programme

What would you improve about this program?
Some of the venues Angloville is in partnership with and the amount of speaking session is overwhelming for some of the participants. I would say that it would be better to find more engaging ways to communicate.

Angloville Poland

Angloville was a great experience! I volunteered for two weeks teaching English in two different locations in Poland (Gdansk and Łodz). Over the course of these two weeks, I met some really nice people and learnt a lot about Poland. The speaking sessions were much easier than I expected they would be, and I ended up having some really interesting conversations. The Polish participants were all very engaged, and seemed to genuinely enjoy their time on the programme. Outside of speaking sessions, I took part in loads of games and group activities. These were super fun (I felt like I was a kid again!). The other English speaking volunteers were really friendly, and we hung out and chatted or played cards every night. I was sad to leave at the end of the two weeks, and would definitely recommend Angloville in the future!
