My experience has a 10 overall

I need to start by saying this is not a summer school only for young people who want to get credits for their colleges and have fun in an interchange experience.
Of course I had the chance to share with many beautiful and incredibly intelligent and challenging young people, eager for knowledge and fun, but this summer school offers wide open areas to study as well as many activities for all of us. Very inclusive I would say.
What surprised me the most was the quality of the teachers. All of them with huge trajectory, all of them experienced researchers and teachers, actually working in their fields, but even more beautiful, all of them so loving and caring. I found a very professional university but a very human one as well.
The summer school staff can’t be more lovely, dedicated, helpful and funny. I loved all of them!

For me it was a very open minded experience as a MBSR (Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction) teacher interested in Mental Health and the Mind (that was my module) because I could get to know the science of mental health but also the complex context of being a human suffering from a mental disorder or taking care of someone in need.
In addition I had lots of fun, I learnt a lot not only from my teachers but also from my classmates who had a very high level. I was delighted studying with all of them.

Pd: make sure you don’t miss the “quiz night”. Absolutely fantastic.

What was your funniest moment?
The quiz night is something you cannot miss. The staff put love of love on this event.

Wonderful experience and best decision

I studied the first term at UCL summer school in 2019, it was a wonderful experience. The program is both knowledgeable and fun. I have learned a lot in my class, The Dark Side of London, and the activities that UCL summer program designed were very interesting! Studying summer program at UCL is one of the best decisions I ever made! Also, since UCL is in London, I got to explore this wonderful city while I study there.
I’ve also applied the master program at UCL because I had a really good time during the summer program. I really recommend it!!!

What would you improve about this program?
Nearly everything is perfect. I would only want to improve the scavenger hunt on the first day. If UCL can design the different routes for each group instead of letting students figuring out on Google Maps, it will be a lot more efficient and save us some time.
I suggest that UCL can plan 6-8 different routes on Google Maps. Then, create a QR code in the envelope along with the assigned group for students. So when each group get together, everyone knows where to go.

One of the best summer of my life

Last summer I did both sessions of the UCL Summer School where I obtained extra credits which transferred over to my home institution, allowing me to graduate a semester early. What started off as a simple strategy to graduate early, turned into one of the best summers of my life! From the first moments it began, UCL staff made me feel so welcome. They organised fun activities for us to meet other people and explore the gorgeous Bloosmbury area, and that was how I was able to meet the group of people who soon became my very close friends and who I'm still in contact with to this day. In fact, 3 of us just reunited in Paris the other day, almost 7 months later! In addition to the fun and freedom I had out and about in London, I also loved my time in class. I took Literary London in session 1 and Fairytales and their Retellings in session 2. I learned so much from my professors, who were experts in the course and fostered such rich and generous conversations. What I also loved about the courses was being able to leave the classroom and learn so much more about the subject but interacting directly with London's rich history. I have nothing but positive things to say about UCL Summer and I only wish I could live it all again!

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Throw yourself into it fully. It goes by way too fast.
