AMAZING!

I had the best time during my study abroad! great people, the staff was awesome and Ireland was beautiful! The trips that we got to take as an AIFS group were really fun, and we all got to feel like a big family. Strongly recommend using AIFS to go study anywhere, but Ireland was great

Can I move to Europe?

I LOVE Ireland when I spend 2 months over there doing my internship. The food was amazing, the people were super friendly and would help you if you had any questions they would help. I want to go back now! My internship was extremely helpful for my career later in life. I met tons of new friends, that I still keep in contact with them to this day. I always recommend that you should go abroad when you get a chance to experience the difference between each countries. I went with my university and I have a special bond with the other students that also went on this adventure with me. We will never forgot all the grand times we had together in Blackrock. I learn so much from this program and the internship, I never regret going to this day.

What would you improve about this program?
I really enjoyed everything about this program and the trip! But the one thing I would say that is they need to be clear what it being supplied. For example we had no idea that we need to buy our own pots and pans and plates and silverware. But they did refund me the money back!

Can I go back yet?

When I set off for Dublin at the beginning of the summer I never expected myself to fall in love, but I did. I fell in love with Dublin the second I stepped foot in the city centre, a lively and most beautiful place. The people are fantastic, the food delicious, and the craic abundant. There was never a dull moment.

My internship itself was more than I could've ever asked for. My coworkers were welcoming, appreciative, and made sure I got the "true Irish experience." The work I was doing was meaningful, and taught me so much about the industry I'm going to be entering after graduation.

What would you improve about this program?
I would've like to stay longer. While I feel like the experience I gained was great, I could've learned SO much more if I had more time.

No Longer a Tourist

One of the best things about interning in Dublin is that you get to feel a part of their society. You are no longer just a tourist there to see the sights, but you get to contribute to their society and you get past just the facade of the country. It takes a lot to get used to getting to the right place and doing the right thing in a new country, but it's so worth it to come out on the other side successful.

Internship Reflection

My work days in Ireland were long but rewarding. I left my apartment around 6:30am to be on time for the public transportation to my bosses' house where he drove me the rest of the way to work. We normally ended our work day around 5:30pm, which made for an exhausting travel back to the apartment. The main difficulties that I encountered were the costs and the great amount of time that using public transportation on my commute consumed. However, the highlight of my day was usually going out on the town and experiencing the interesting Irish cuisine with my roommates and co-workers.

What would you improve about this program?
I really enjoyed my internship experience, but my internship was not really related to my major. The only thing I would've asked to be done differently would have been to match me to a job that was related to my field so that it could help me more with the things I have learned.

Loved My Time in Ireland and Interning Abroad

I was able to do an internship aboard through Global Experiences my junior year and the experience was amazing. I was able to travel around Ireland (and the UK), meet some incredible new friends as well as expand my resume through hands-on work experience.

When I returned from my internship in Ireland, and graduated the next summer, I was asked about my internship in every interview I went into. My internship, coupled with some other experience throughout my college experience, helped me land a job after college. I loved being able to experience what life is like outside of college and moving to a new country gave me the confidence to move to a new city after graduating.

The Irish culture is amazing. The people are friendly, the landscapes are awesome and I would go back in a second.

What would you improve about this program?
My program faced some hiccups in the housing. We were located outside of the city, but I enjoyed having my own room and LOVED my roommates.

A Summer to Remember

I had always wanted to travel to Ireland growing up. I have never thought that an opportunity would arise for me to have an internship in Dublin. It is the summer that I will never forget! I was able to meet people and gain valuable knowledge that will always be with me. My internship was with a small boutique hotel in Dublin. The people I worked with during that summer not only taught me about working in a hotel, but they also taught me to enjoy every moment. They made my experience at work so much fun! The program helped me realize that Hospitality was what I really wanted to do. There are so many people in the Global Experience group that I will always remember and will always stay in touch with. The internship and friends that I made in Dublin are something that will always be with me!

What would you improve about this program?
I would have lived closer in town but that has changed since I was in the program.

Ireland is amazing and my internship complimented my experience

Ireland is where my family heritage lies. I've always wanted to go and interact with the people and see the breathtaking countryside. None of it disappointed. The people of Ireland are truly kind-hearted and generous and the land is something I often think back to fondly. My internship was not the exact placement I'd hoped for. I wanted something geared more towards fine art, but ending up at a wedding and portrait photographer ended up helping me get a part-time job back in the states. So, while I didn't get to be as creative as I'd hoped my boss was very kind and the environment was respectful and educational. I made the best of my situation and used free time at work to educate myself further on photo editing programs. I never had a "bad day" at work. After my relaxing day of work I would have plenty of free time to experience Dublin. My boss was also very understanding of the few days I was late when I got on the wrong bus as well as a couple days I took off when I got a little sick. All in all I enjoyed my program and would definitely do it again if I could.

What would you improve about this program?
Many things in the program have changed since my summer in 2010. The housing is now downtown instead of outside the city. There is now a staff member staying in Dublin throughout the program. Also certain partnerships have ended so I feel like now I probably would get the exact internship placement I was wanting, though the one I ended up being placed in was not a disappointment...just different than expected.
