About Program

What better way to gain hands-on experience with diverse cases, fields, and lawyers than in the fast-paced and beautiful cities of Madrid, Barcelona or Valencia? At Lex, pre-law students rotate to a new law firm each day, where they can expect to gain a deeper understanding of day-to-day life in the legal field. This is done by completing case studies and meeting with firms and attorneys throughout the host cities. In addition, they develop a deep appreciation for the rich cultures our site locations have to offer.

Here at Lex, we know that law school is a significant investment of time and financial resources. By attending a program with Lex, you can start to determine if law school is right for you. For seven years, we have been the best opportunity for real-world legal instruction to interested pre-law students. Our programs are designed for students that are ready to take their law school applications to the next level.

Lex Madrid

Absolutely invaluable educational experience from the legal advisor, wonderful Abroad experience, fun and supportive staff, only critique would’ve been one or two of the firms. I gained a lot of experience in the culture of Spain, and I will admit that the trip will be marginally less valuable to anybody disinterested in practicing abroad, but it will still be a great resume booster and fulfilling experience. The trip requires a lot of self management, which I believe further supplements the educational value of the trip.

Pros
  • Grad school advice
  • Resume booster
  • Fun and educational balance
Cons
  • Heavily socially oriented
  • Demands responsibility
  • Some lackluster law firm visits

Spain Fellowship

I can’t recommend this program enough, especially for pre-law students who want to better prepare for all things law school. The networking you are able to develop plus the advantage of having legal training lets you get familiar with a lot of L1 content. Visiting different firms allows you to learn about potential new types of law you might want to study. Personally, after this program, I have an interest in and love for International law something I would've not considered before. The friendships and memories I created are for a lifetime!

Pros
  • Friends
  • Adventure

Lex Fellowship Madrid Program

Both the trip advisors were the best, the housing was safe and secure, and I have learned invaluable information for my career all in one week. The courses comprised of amazing content, and the law firm visits were incredibly informative and insightful. The trip was planned to a T, making sure everyone was safe and comfortable with every activity. We also had time to both explore the city all while networking and learning of new kinds of law. Skills that I have developed to be able to network without any anxiety.

Amazing Program

I think that this is an amazing opportunity to have and definitely help with law school.
Legal training has me super psyched for L1 year of law school! I really enjoyed going to visit different law firms, and get exposed to different types of law that I wouldn’t normally be exposed to. Through this program, I was able to decide on what type of law I want to practice in after law school and even got some school recommendations that have great programs for maritime law!
Also, being able to see how religion is a huge part of their legal system in Spain was extremely interesting to experience!

Pros
  • Amazing sights
  • Great legal training
  • Best housing manager
Cons
  • Have to constantly be on the look out with your things
  • airport was a little confusing

LEX Madrid

This program was amazing experience. I was able to comfortably travel solo for the first time because the program went above and beyond to provide necessary resources. Our housing had all possible amenities, and staff was on hand to help us with any possible issues. The entire program was set up for us to experience as much as possible. However, there was also plenty of time to schedule your own adventures. This experience was truly life changing and I made friends that I will carry with me into my career.

Pros
  • Making connections with legal students and practicing lawyers
  • Experiencing solo travel in a safe environment
  • Seeing the culture of another country

Great experience!

The Lex Fellowship was a really great opportunity to study abroad and learn more about the law. Even though we were in a foreign country, what we learned from different Spanish law firms was super informative for our legal studies in the United States. I learned about different areas of law and how to approach different types of cases with all of our case studies. We also got to learn a lot about US law with our legal trainings which was interesting as well. Our excursions were really well-planned and fun and I got to meet a lot of cool, new people.

Pros
  • Travel
  • Learning
  • Food
