An incredibly supportive company

I was super nervous to embark on my adventure in Thailand as it was my first solo trip; after thorough research, I discovered the reputable company 'The Fewer Things' and have not been disappointed. The Fewer Things has been there every step of the way, before my departure to Thailand, during and after! I feel delighted with the support I have received from this company. We had several webinars, the group chat was constantly filled with helpful information, links and general chit-chat and advice. Once I landed in Thailand, I met up with several people from the programme, I even met someone from the company on my flight! We enjoyed several adventures exploring Thailand before our placements began, so Thailand was already off to a great start! We had a teaching orientation, and The Fewer Things planned social events each night during the orientation course, so after the training, you had something to look forward to and further opportunities to make friends! I have felt immensely supported every step of the way; coming from someone very nervous about whether this was the right decision, I can confirm that choosing to kickstart my journey with The Fewer Things 100% was! I will be returning to them for my future teaching and travel adventures! Can't fault the company :)

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Honestly, all I can say is go for it! You won't be disappointed. I am so glad I didn't let fear or anxiety stop me from this experience! it has been incredibly enriching!

TFT Thailand programme

I am currently 1 and a half months into my Thailand program and am having the best time. It is an amazing cultural experience and a great way to earn money abroad. The Fewer Things were really helpful in providing support on this journey and providing a great TEFL course. I am planning on trying to teach in a new country with TFT after Thailand. Once you have paid your initial program fees you have access to all the other programs. Also, this is a more affordable option than the companies other teachers came with, lots of other companies charge around £1000 and don’t offer the same level of support that The Fewer Things do!

Teaching in Thailand

Teaching in Thailand via TFT has been an incredible experience so far. TFT has been incredibly helpful, supplying us with all the necessary resources, information and additional help which we need. They also took into my account all my requests when choosing an accommodation which has allowed me to live in a place in which I couldn’t be happier about. The job itself has certainly been exciting yet challenging but in a good way and again TFT never fail to answer any questions I have about adjusting to life in Thailand, teaching and any other questions.

A different world

Thinking about a great change? Going to Thailand might be the thing for you. But one has to be ready to embrace some grand change of everything basically. I started out in November, that's the second semester here. The Fewer Things provided me with a TEFL course and connected me with the Thai company that actually hired me. After orientation in Bangkok, it was time for a mini trip to Chiang Mai, the Northern big city and after that, I ended up at my placement near Korat. The town is quite small so it took some time to adjust. After maybe a month I got used to the work, people, and life in a town away from the traditional tourist destinations. Feelings of inadequacy and alienation were part of it, but so was the joy of a good lesson done, sharing energy with the students, and exploring the area with people who met at orientation or other foreign teachers at the school. It's an adventure like no other if you're open enough and ready to embrace it.

What was your funniest moment?
I drove about 1,5 hour each way on a scooter to a nice little spot near a national park. On the way back, fell over with the bike 100 metres from my accommodation :).
Pros
  • communication
  • guidance
  • getting clearly prepared in steps

Best decision I ever made

I used to read these comments left by people living abroad and think to myself how cool it must be! I still find it hard to believe I am now one of these people! It is honestly not as crazy as it sounds and if I did it, so can you!

It’s scary moving to a country where you don’t know anyone, you don’t speak the language and you are doing a job you have never done before!
However, TFT held my hand every step of the way and I needn’t have worried about being all on my own. I bonded with some of the other teachers straight away, we are all going through the exact same process after all. Thai people are as friendly and helpful as they are said to be! The language barrier is somewhat mitigated by the existence of Google Translate. 😆

I am a first-time teacher still figuring it all out but there is enough support for me to do well. Go for it!

Exceptional Thailand Program Experience with Outstanding Support from Jaemi!

I recently had the pleasure of participating in the Thailand program offered by Fewer Things Ltd, and I cannot express how impressed I am with the entire experience, especially with the invaluable assistance provided by Jaemi.

From the outset, the program was meticulously organized, offering a perfect blend of cultural immersion, professional development, and personal growth. The itinerary was well thought out, allowing us to explore the beauty of Thailand while also engaging in meaningful activities that enriched our understanding of the local culture.

What truly set this program apart was the exceptional support and guidance offered by Jaemi. His expertise, coupled with genuine enthusiasm, made a significant difference in my experience. Jaemi was not only knowledgeable about the intricacies of the Thai culture and customs but also went above and beyond to ensure that each participant felt comfortable and had their individual needs met.

A year in Thailand

I signed up to teach in Thailand with The Fewer Things in May 2021. Right from my initial application Jaemi was really helpful and provided me with all the information I needed to feel confident in moving abroad. Due to covid there was additional paperwork and requirements but I was fully supported throughout the process of moving to Thailand. TFT group chat was really good for getting to know the other applicants and helping each other with the application process. In October 2021 I moved to Thailand, first teaching at a school outside Bangkok for a semester and then in Isaan for a second semester. I loved the teaching, the workload was very manageable and I was well supported by the other teachers and the local agency staff in my region. When not at school, I spent my weekends travelling with other TFT applicants to locations all over Thailand. I would definitely recommend TFT teach abroad programs both to people who have never taught abroad before and aswell as those who have. TFT clubhouse is an additional bonus to an already brilliant program and I look forward to teaching abroad with TFT again in the future.

Pros
  • Experience life in an area of Thailand you wouldn't normally visit
  • Perfect for first time teachers
