The material is very presented and user friendly. I'm not a tech wizard but I found their website very easy to use. Lots of extra reading and resources. Very useful and comprehensive feedback from my tutors. The course covers every aspect: grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation etc , different teaching methods and styles. There is a very useful unit on classroom management, use of internet and modern technology. It also covers teaching different ages. I enjoyed it and recommend it. Great value for money.

What would you improve about this program?

I think one extra month. It is a very tight program

I had put off starting this course due to procrastination and fear, but I'm so glad I took the leap of faith to do it. Lockdown provided me with the time and the reason and now I am very happy to say that I passed. The structure is very good and I felt suitably challenged and supported. Some of the course, the grammar part, was difficult but I thought this was very fair and has only encouraged me to work harder in this area. I'm now looking forward to putting all my newly aquired knowledge to use and can't wait to get teaching.

What would you improve about this program?

I would update and extend the part abut online teaching.

Taking the Level 5 TEFL Course truly did open my eyes to a lot of things I didn't pay much attention to in language teaching. When I enrolled for the course I didn't know what to expect. I saw all 10 units and their titles and was eager to dive in. The units were elaborate but easy to understand with loads of valuable resources in each unit and little activities in between to check your understanding. The assignments were tasking but in a good way because working on them gave me a sense of what creating lessons and searching for suitable materials for your students in the real world would look like. The feedback from each assignment encouraged me to work harder in the next assignment. Completing the course came with a great feeling of accomplishment and it was the best decision I made...

What would you improve about this program?

For people who find self study difficult, I would recommend that some units are taught by an online tutor. Some people find seeing their tutor or watching their videos easier for learning. Personally, the self study method worked well for me.

This experience was very positive for me. I learnt a lot in a little bit of time. I would recommend it to anyone who is interested in English language teaching. In this course you learn a lot of techniques on how to teach students a language. The course was very well structured, organised and clear. If there are questions the staff answers quickly and with precision. It provides also a lot of possiblities after the course is completed. The content is complete and embraces all of the important questions related to foreign language teaching.

What would you improve about this program?

I would like to have a more complete feedback on the tasks and not only grades.

I think the course is very well set up. Everything is divided into units and there are a lot of exercises to practice with theory. Every unit there is a test to take about the theory of the unit. There are three assignments in the course and I found these very useful. They are not difficult to do, and you learn a lot from them! It gives you many handles on how to make a lesson plan!
Classroom practice was also very useful. You practice with teaching in front of the whole group and it is helpful to get the feedback from other students! You can finish this course easily in 6 months if you have the time! I recommend the course with the TEFL academy!

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?

If you want to do this course while travelling, I would recommend to do it when you will stay for a longer time in one place. I was travelling when I took the course, and for me, it was difficult to combine because I was moving a lot.

I found this course to be insightful and well organized, learning material was easy to access, clearly set out and full of valuable content. I would recommend students to study this, for possible teaching opportunities but even just for your CV if you are living in a country where English is not the first language. I would suggest students work consistently on their course as the learning content and assignments do require quite a bit of energy and time, leaving it all to the end will not benefit you.

What would you improve about this program?

I would include more online teaching guidance, there is a lot of content for how to be a student that is physically and resent with the class, however, I think the scope of jobs for online English teachers is also very large.

Hello! In December I choose to study the Level 5 TEFL course and I began with the 20hr 2 day classroom part. This was a great weekend and an opportunity to meet other people studying the course and meet an experienced TEFL teacher, this experience was invaluable and very helpful. I continued with course and units and assignments and as an English native I thought it was going to be easy but actually it is not and really made me think and I really felt I was learning all over again and testing myself. Once I and finished I really felt like I had achieved something. The course covered everything and I cannot wait to put it into practice now here in Barcelona and start teaching. I am so excited. Thank you TEFL for this course and experience.

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?

I think i would choose to do it faster so that I could get teaching quicker as I am very excited now to start.

This was an amazing course, simple and easy to complete. The information although at times complex was explained well and I feel I have learnt a lot and look forward to using my skills across the world and meeting new people and learning about new cultures through them. I have already recommended this course to my best friend who has started her learning and already loves it. We plan to use our qualifications to travel after university and help people from different cultures by teaching them English. I also look forward to helping asylum seekers and refugees improve their English so that they can gain refuge in the UK

Patrice works as a Student Advisor in the Student Services department of The TEFL Academy, assisting students with enrolment, general enquiries and providing an insight into the wonderful world of TEFL teaching!

Having taught in Spain as a TEFL teacher, she uses her experience and familiarity with the TEFL industry to aid and provide advice to both prospective and current students.

What is your favorite travel memory?

I have spent many years studying and living in Spain. I moved to Alicante, Spain to study as part of my Erasmus programme and lived there for nearly 2 years. I fell in love with the country, the people, the culture and, of course, the food!

I then moved to Murcia, where I taught English as a Foreign Language for a year. It was the best experience of my life and really shaped who I am as a person. I was teaching young learners (5-7 years old), teenagers and adults. I also taught Business English to local companies, which was really interesting! My favourite moment was when I could see that the topic or grammar point we were covering in class actually clicked with the students. It's such a proud feeling to see your hard work paying off and getting good results.

I spent my free time traveling around Spain and visiting different cities such as Valencia, Madrid and Granada. I fell in love with the small, rustic, colourful villages of the small towns, the gorgeous architecture and the warm, open personalities of the local people. I improved my language skills immensely and by the end of the year, I was able to hold a strong, fluent conversation in Spanish, so that was another perk of the experience!

How have you changed/grown since working for your current company?

Working with The TEFL Academy is great fun! We have a fantastic team of supportive, enthusiastic and quirky staff. I really wanted to work for this company because I was keen to share my experiences with others and give hints and tips into what's it's like to be a TEFL teacher, what to expect, what to do/avoid doing. I have heard so many interesting and heart-warming stories from our students and I've also learned so much about different cultures of the world.

What is the best story you've heard from a return student?

My favourite return student story is one from our student Sandra Dawn Biddulph. Sandra completed our course and went on to teach in Northern Spain as a TEFL teacher. As a mature student, it was amazing to see Sandra immersing herself completely in life of the school, the local community and religious fiestas. Sandra worked in language schools but is also a private tutor. I love that our course has provided her with a full skill set and that she is using what she has learned to help others on their language-learning journey!

I was really able to relate to Sandra, having gone through a lot of the same experiences in Spain. Sandra proves that it is never to let to follow your dream and that jumping into the deep-end can result in the most fantastic experiences.

If you could go on any program that your company offers, which one would you choose and why?

The TEFL Academy offers many different internship programmes. If you're keen on working in Spain, I would definitely recommend the Spain Internship programme run by Meddeas. It offers TEFL-qualified teachers the chance to move to Spain to work as a language assistant teaching children from 2yrs to 18yrs old in a Spanish school for 3-9 months. I would love to complete this programme because it offers full board accommodation with a volunteer host family, which I think would be a fantastic experience and a great way to fully immerse yourself culturally. You receive a monthly allowance also, which is more than enough to get by, as your expenses in Spain will be quite low. Food, transport and accommodation are so cheap! A full meal would cost you less than €10 in most restaurants and a beer is only €1.50 on average, which is crazy!

Working 20-25 hours per week in a classroom environment, the programme gives you the chance to work on and develop many skills, such as public speaking, language skills, creativity, team working, topic preparation, patience, maturity, autonomy, and cultural awareness.

What makes your company unique? When were you especially proud of your team?

I'm proud of our team every day. I love the fact that all of the staff in Student Services have TEFL experience and have worked abroad. We have a really broad range of knowledge, which is amazing because it allows us to help students out no matter what side of the world they're looking to teach in. We have a really strong and passionate team, who love what they do and I believe that we help with drive the company forward in the best way possible.

What do you believe to be the biggest factor in being a successful company?

I think that it's essential that a company has a key set of values that it sticks by to in order to be successful. The TEFL Academy strives to provide support to our students, from the moment that they enrol, to assisting with their course, to the proud moment when they obtain their qualification, right through to their exciting job search.
