Amazing course

My experience was unique because my dream came true .
I really enjoyed every moment .
I can’t wait to start to practice it.
To get more knowledge, skills just make more exciting to teach.
To understand more about education.
To teach kids and adults are almost the same way to teach . I just need to put in practice what I have learned.
The course was super intensive. No time to do anything else . But it was super super satisfactory to help me in future career.
Just wanna say thank you so much all .

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Back to my country to practice everything that I have learned

What an adventure you have signed up for! Let’s get ready...

What to pack:
A readiness to learn new things in new ways. Yep, you may know a “better way,” but that’s not why you are here.
Thick skin. Daily you will be evaluated by your peers and instructor.
Your favorite writing utensil and refills. You will be doing a lot a writing—notes, your thoughts, lesson plans.
A working computer. Without it it you will be very unhappy.
An ability to budget your time, energy, and resources to complete multiple, simultaneous projects.
A strong immune system. Long hours, new challenges, and kids can tax your immune system. Bolster yourself in advance. Bring a month’s supply of your favorite supplements.
At least one set of PROPER teaching clothes.
Your swimsuit. The pool is lovely.

Leave at home:
All extra responsibilities. You will not have the time, energy, or mental space to successfully do anything else. There is not a set daily schedule for the entire month. Now is the time to take a leave of absence from everything else. REALLY!

Do your research in advance:
All work and no play...makes for crabby teachers. While you will be terrifically busy with classroom responsibilities, you will want to make time to be a tourist. When you have unexpected free time, you will want to use it doing the cool things you planned ahead for—-not just starting your search.
Join some of the Siem Reap Facebook groups (expats, foodies, etc.) and identify some places you would like to patronize.
Search the web for “things to do in Siem Reap” and create a wish list—or a reward list.
Google Maps is your friend. Create a “list” and save the places you find through your research.

Plan to contribute to the local economy
In an area hugely dependent on tourism, the people of Siem Reap have been hard hit by the fallout of COVID-19.
Buy the 7-day Pass for Angkor Wat (it is valid for a whole month).
Find a business or cause to support (e.g., Drivers Srey: Woman Tuk Tuk Drivers, Angkor Centre for Conservation of Biodiversity, GIVE Kefir).
Go the the smaller book stores (office supply stores) for fun stuff to add to your classes.
(Please note: unless you have been in the country for at least 3 months, be careful with street food. Now is not the time to deal with digestive problems.)

Plan to have a great time!

What was your funniest moment?
Learning that Champa’s cat regularly ate her homework!

Virtual Online TEFL Course

This really is a great course indeed. I have gained so much knowledge regarding what it entails to be an ESL teacher. The real life experience attained has been amazing. Great support received from everyone. The facilitators were amazing and so supportive. I have truly been inspired by their passion and enthusiasm.

It was not an easy course at all. Hark work was required to successfully complete the course.

The class dynamic was great. Everyone really supported each other. I have had an amazing learning journey and would highly recommend this course to anyone interested.

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
The first listening and PPP lesson.
I prepared well to ensure that all flowed according to my plan. Feedback received was great to improve for future purpose.

Destination TEFL

The program was enjoyable and with academic rigor. I found the interaction between trainers and students and between students very useful and helpful. It sometimes felt as if you are in the same room as all the other students and trainer. The program provided a variety of challenges to each individual as well as groups. I like the breakout rooms where we could practice and share ideas, notes, subject matter, exercises etc, with different classmates. The practicals were excellent and gave one a good insight on how to prepared a lesson in future.

What would you improve about this program?
Provide structured pre-reading and notes throughout the course.

Virtual Online Destination TEFL Course 2020

An absolute incredible, fast paced, fun, informative virtual course which has surpassed all my expectations. I am so pleased I decided to do it and this will change my life forever.

At first I was apprehensive on how the online course would be presented on a virtual platform and I wasn't sure what to expect. I kept an open mind and I dived straight into it and was soon immersed in the world of Google classroom, zoom meetings ,homework assignment but also having a lot of fun.

The virtual online platform is extremely user friendly and from day one, you started meeting your fellow students from all over the world. a video link. I was amazed how quickly we all started forming a bond learning together and supporting each other with various projects that had to be carried out individually or in groups. My fellow students were great and we all shared our ideas, thoughts and support to one another.

One thing I loved about the platform was that you were placed in "break-out rooms" where you could work together in either pairs of two or four on various daily tasks or discussions. These types of discussions were great for brainstorming exercises and letting your creative juices flow.

The course is very extensive timewise so be prepared to commit a substantial amount of your time to the course. Stay with me here as I would like to share something with you further down this letter. Time flew by and I can honestly say I have never thought I could learn so much in such a short amount of time. You tube video presenting for Hooks/brain-break exercises and the most important thing of it all.. it has been geared at having fun whilst learning and to share great experiences with one's fellow students.

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
My first lesson plan and teaching it to my first student online. I overcome this by practising more and having more fun. When you see these kids in front of you eager to learn and their faces when they done well or you praise them pushes you to get better and better at it. That feeling is incredible.

Destination TEFL: Virtual course August 2020

I am so happy with the way everything turned out. The support we got was incredible and the value for the course is amazing. I truly recommend this course to anyone wanting to be a TEFL teacher. I promise you its worth it.

The team of Willie and Tina were so hard working and made the course so comfortable for us especially heading into our practicals. The material and ideas you get are unforgettable as well as the memories you make.

Thank you so much to Destination TEFL for this awesome course and for getting me ready for when I get a teaching job whether it be online or in person.

What was your funniest moment?
The point system and how competitive everybody got. Had a few moments when people were almost begging for petty stuff which was pretty funny. Extremely good for getting people involved.

Thank You Destination TEFL!

I have had the pleasure and privilege of attending both the 140-hour onsite training in Siem Reap, as well as the 120-hour virtual course. I have derived immense value from both certifications. Tina, the Head Trainer, is beyond passionate and committed. This is evident in her tireless work ethic, patience, compassion, encouragement, generosity, and all the various offerings of support that she provides to her students - so naturally. Tina goes way beyond the call of duty to ensure continuous upskilling and holistic success. Her expertise and teaching style make for fascinating and impactful learning, alongside lots of fun, belly laughs, many wonderful new friends amongst peers and connections made.

My deep gratitude and appreciation to everyone within the Destination TEFL team and family!

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Remember that each of us is different and finding our individual teaching superpowers means not comparing ourselves to our peers, nor expecting to be like them in order to feel like a competent, impactful teacher-in-the-making.
