An experience

If you have any qualms about taking this course, don't. It's perfectly normal to have reservations and be cautious but I can assure you, this was probably the best thing to happen this 2020 so far. I came into this course with no prior experience or knowledge and I feel like I am now leaving with a wealth of resources and tools to help me in this new path I'm pursuing.

The trainer was just amazing and the whole staff as well. From the beginning when I had many questions regarding the program and all those details, to the trainer and teacher training, the whole process was just great.

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
When we had to give our first planned lesson to an actual student virtually. Just preparing as much as I could and planning with all the tools they provided to us.

Destination TEFL is fantastic!

This virtual course was a fantastic 3 week experience that I will never forget! Incredible interactive course where you meet some really incredible people and learn super interesting and helpful ESL teaching techniques. I'm very glad that I took the TEFL course and even more happy I chose to take it with Destination TEFL. I really look forward to meeting the staff in person in Cambodia when I eventually head over there after covid-related travel restrictions are loosened. Thanks Destination TEFL!!

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
The most nerve-wracking moment for me was when I had to teach my very first ESL lesson to a young Cambodian student. I had never taught before and was really anxious about how it would go. In the end however, I remembered to stick to the techniques and structures that I learned through the course and I feel like I overcame that fear and managed to put together a coherent lesson that I would build upon even further.

Virtual Online TEFL Course - Destination TEFL Cambodia

From start to finish, the course was action packed, fast paced and interactive. The course objectives were clear every step of the way and there was ample encouragement, suggestions and guidance on how to tackle each task/assignment and how to use the platform without interrupting the flow of the day. Tina, the trainer, was consistently enthusiastic and encouraging. It was a privilege meeting people from all over the world and it was encouraging to see that each person committed to the long hours and focus. The group were friendly, approachable and helpful every step of the way. I learnt so much about teaching and how to communicate smarter with students and peers, as well as a complete change about how I view myself and how I can make a positive impact on educating students. Willie was hand's on and helped with technical difficulties, helpful criticism and praise and consistently enthusiastic when sharing with the group. Sad that the course and time together has come to an end, but I have a renewed energy to go out and teach! If you are considering TEFL I would say grab the opportunity to do your course through Destination TEFL as it is the best decision you could make. Thank you Destination TEFL (Tina, Willie and Kathryn). Well done!

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Remember to keep it simple and have fun. Take a step back and see the smiles on the student's faces when they have a fun, interactive lesson and you will see that the teacher is having fun and this transmits very well with having this particular course under your belt.

DestinationTEFL review

I did the online course in May 2020. I was very happy with our fantastic Teacher, Tina. She did a great job in explaining everything to us and was very patience, respectful and nice to everyone.
The material was very good and on point to what is being taught. It was a nice atmosphere throughout the course with a lot of laughter and fun. Sometimes it was stressful, sometimes not stressful enough, but I guess, that's just how every school is.
Overall, I really liked that course and learned a lot.

A new adventure

This course is very inter active, fast pace yet simple to follow. It is very hands on and informative. The training we received is very invaluable and made for the real world. We will be using all the information that we received on this training course. I love the vide of the trainers and they are very understanding and helpful. The students are also very friendly and helpful as well. I really learnt a lot and have grown in many ways. I was taken out of my comfort zone. I was a bit slow using this platform, the students and the teachers helped me.

What would you improve about this program?
I don't think there is much to improve on. it was very informative and exciting. The people we met here I hope we keep in touch for a long time.

TEFL Review

I enjoyed the course very much and will recommend it to friends and family because I believe that it is very beneficial. The teachers on the course were great and very helpful, and my peers were also great to be in the course with and I think I will keep in touch with them in the future to see how their TEFL work is going. I also think that the course being online was okay even though at first their were some technical difficulties. However with perseverance I have completed it and I couldn't be happier.

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
My first presentation, but after that I became a lot more comfortable

Great Teacher and Course

I really enjoyed the course, it does stretch your mind though at the same time.

Which is really important, because if it was really easy it wouldn't be a good course.

You'll get a lot of experience of teaching the fellow students with you to get more comfortable with teaching in front of groups.

You'll get help rerunning over grammar and tenses if you are rusty on them.

There are very good lessons and assignments on lesson planning, from new words, dialogue which are really great.

Big thanks to our teacher Tina! :)

What was your funniest moment?
There are times that you will get to laugh on the course to as you bond with your fellow students and teachers.

The funniest moments were for me when some of our fellow students would share his modes with a virtual background on Zoom.

Exveeded expectations

Congratulations! You’ve already made the first step in your TEFL journey.

Trust me, you’ve made the right choice in choosing Destination TEFL. Right from the first activity you feel like part of a team and comfortable enough to interact with your classmates who you’ve literally just met.

The trainer gets everyone totally involved in all activities without having to try too hard at all, Tina (the trainer) is always smiling and energetic. She is one of the most patient teachers I’ve met, making sure that no student is left behind. Willie (The President!) is the on-site tech guru, making sure that we don’t have any issues with the application etc. Kathryn (Director) also jumps in from time to time and mixes it up a bit which is great. This gives us the opportunity to learn from a different type of teacher (if you think Tina is energetic then wait until you meet Kathryn)!! 😉

‘We celebrate mistakes’ is one of their mottos, encouraging us to answer questions without being judged. This has really given me a safe environment to try and answer questions.

Even though I attended the Virtual course; apart from a couple of screen freezes and robotic voices you don’t feel like you're thousands of miles away.

I highly recommend this course! Once the current situation is under control and travel restrictions have been lifted, we head over to Siem Reap for our teacher practicals. I can’t wait!

All the best with your journey, enjoy the scenery and don’t forget to smell the roses. 😊

What was your funniest moment?
When my cousin walked in and said hi to the instructor but didn't realise there were other people logged on
