GOTOCO Spain TEFL

I had a great time spending a month this summer in Spain. I had never done any kind of teaching before, but I really enjoyed it, and found that I could learn on the job. The camp was a lot of fun, and it was great meeting all the students. Gotoco takes care of all the organisation and places you in a camp, and if you're not sure about your summer plans you can apply last minute. The TEFL online course is super well organised, very clearly laid out and it has taught me a lot about teaching English abroad.

Pros
  • Independence and confidence in travelling abroad and meeting new people
  • A great teaching course, and TEFL qualification for free
  • Minimal organisation on your behalf
Cons
  • At times Gotoco took a while to respond to questions about my placement

Gotoco

It is a great opportunity to travel and explore countries that you might otherwise never visit. To have it fully funded is also an opportunity not to be missed and I met so many wonderful people that are similar with their passion for travel and exploration that I would definitely recommend the program to anyone with a similar love for traveling.
The opportunity to have the cultural tour at the end of the 3 weeks with Angloville was extremely fun and getting to see multiple cities was something I enjoyed thoroughly. I also appreciated that it occurred after the 3 weeks of camp, as we had time to meet locals who would later accompany us or give us recommendations of hidden gems that we should see.

Gotoco English teaching

A great experience and one that will never be forgotten. A well organised program, providing the teachers with accommodation, food, and flights to say a thank you for teaching the children. The children are very grateful and respectful to the teachers as they are very thankful for the teachers voluntary attendance. There is a lot of freedom on the placement, we had a week off half way through the program where we could go to different islands in Indonesia, this gives a travelling opportunity. There is a lot of support given as we had training for two weeks prior to teaching in the classrooms.

Pros
  • Getting to travel
  • Teaching and developing skills
  • Learning new cultures

Life changing opportunity

As someone who hasn’t travelled much prior, let alone alone, going away to teach alone was quite daunting.

However, Gotoco made it so much easier and provided me with the life changing opportunity to gain valuable experience teaching and living abroad.

Moreover, I made so many new friends from all over the world whilst on my dual programme in Italy and Poland, and the cultural tour afterwards allowed me to see so much of Warsaw and Krakow in such a short time. I would highly recommend taking part in the programme to anyone interested!

Pros
  • Work experience
  • New friends
  • Exploring

Gotoco experience

It was an amazing experience that helped me rejuvenate and experience rince some many different new things, good and bad. Where I got to learn a low about independence, as well as being someone who people look up to.I enjoyed learning how to wood carve as well as balinese water painting. I think it was very interesting and a new experience. I also enjoyed the cultural lesson at the beginning of the program. It has helped me gain some teaching experience, as well as witnessing how others teach and understand the key factors that are required when teaching any age group. Also, learning a different language ugae and about a different culture

Pros
  • It was nice to meet new people
  • It helped me challenge myself
  • It allowed me to experience a different culture
Cons
  • Information during the application process could've been more clear
  • More organisation would've been beneficial and easier for everyone
  • More activities as a group

GOTOCO Guatemala

I had such a fantastic 3 months in Guatemala! I think the programme is a great gateway into travel for first timers, especially those who don't have a lot of money. You will experience real cultural immersion and as a result of that, learn and take on board things you never even had to think about before. We learned about permaculture, about Mayan culture, took Spanish lessons, worked on local farms and more! Some of my favourite memories were being able to work and learn together as a team, and becoming close with my host family, who I still keep in contact with today. I made amazing friends and connections, and learned so much about Guatemalan culture and permaculture. This programme was also my gateway into being able to speak Spanish which I am entirely grateful for. It was my first time abroad without family and it was the most amazing adventure! I would recommend this programme to anyone looking to try something different and broaden their perspective.

Pros
  • Cultural immersion
  • Meeting new people
  • Learning Spanish

GOTOCO ITALY/AUSTRIA PROGRAMME

It was one of the best summers I have ever had and I myself would love to do it again meaning I would definitely recommend it to someone else aswell . It has increased my confidence and made me aware that I can do more than I thought I could . It also improved my stamina and energy a lot due to all the running around in activities Meeting new people and teaching at the camps . The whole process of teaching and playing games which then built up to the epic trip to Venice was fantastic . The cultural trip to Venice was excellent and being able to share it with people who I met over the past 5 weeks was fantastic and made the whole experience very very enjoyable

Pros
  • Confidence builder
  • Meeting new people
  • Experience
Cons
  • Organisation
  • Requires A LOT of energy
  • Not enough support at times

GOTOCO Spain Programme

My month-long journey to Spain to teach English turned out to be an experience that exceeded all expectations. After a prolonged period of pandemic-induced isolation, this opportunity not only allowed me to reconnect with the world but also acted as a catalyst for international exploration and personal development. This endeavour was a fantastic way to foster international mobility while honing valuable skills.

One of the most remarkable highlights of this adventure was the chance to lead a class of eager learners. It was truly exhilarating to impart knowledge while discussing topics close to my heart. This experience merged passion and language, resulting in an engaging learning atmosphere. Beyond the classroom, delving into Spanish culture was equally enchanting. The exposure to new customs, traditions, and ways of life was an eye-opening journey that broadened my perspectives.

Pros
  • Immersing yourself into a new cuture
  • Developing leadership skills
  • Becoming more independent
Cons
  • The food is not very good until the cultural tour
