Good

I am very grateful to have had this opportunity and overall have been happy with Gotoco as a company. I think the people in charge are kind and helpful and I would recommend this to anyone looking for a fun and cheap way to travel. I was not actually placed with gotoco as, due to covid, china was unavailable so I was with a company called Educo who were good, but Gotoco were the ones who got me the placement with them. I am frustrated however at the lengths I must go to have my deposit returned as it was unclear how much we were expected to do before it would be returned to us.

GOTOCO, Spain Interway

I think my biggest highlight was the relationships I made with the group of volunteers I was with. Even though we were all very different, from different places, had different interests, etc, we still all got on really well and had such a great time together. Another highlight was just the fact I was able to spend a month in a country I never really had any desire to travel to but I will definitely go there again sometime. I also really loved the fact that this programme included a cultural tour part. At first I didn't think it was something I would have cared for but after 3 weeks of intense teaching, it was nice to just hang out with everyone in a very chilled environment. Lastly. I would say the relationship with the directors. Although they were technically our 'bosses', we were all still able to speak to them almost like a friend and they really got to know as well. Times when we weren't teaching, they would just hang out with us and get to know us more as regular people.

Pros
  • gained confidence
  • made new friendships
  • something to add to the CV !
Cons
  • experienced a few microagressions, this is more doebdejt on the country not the organisation itself
  • intense
  • tiring

Bali GOTOCO 6-week programme

Amazing teaching programme that allowed me to stay for 6 weeks in Bali fully funded. Taught for 2 hours a day, 5 days a week leaving weekends free for travel around Bali. From fishing, nasi goreng, amazing coffee, swimming with turtles, Kecak fire dances, temples, nights out in Gili T, black sand beaches, stunning waterfalls, cooking classes, culture lectures, team activities, the programme was non-stop and incredible. Bali prices are very affordable and the programme is very supportive. Defo would recommend :)

Pros
  • Amazing opportunity to teach
  • Meeting locals
  • Food!

A great opportunity!

The most enjoyable moments was when we were allowed to hold our lessons, this brought on a lot of confidence and encouraged our self-esteem. I also really enjoyed the teaching. Meeting the fellow Gotoco participants and making friends with other teachers. It was also really nice to go to a different country and learn some of the language and meet people who live and actually work in Greece. The fact that you gain a qualification is incredible and plus the stories and memories you create are amazing! I also love how funding is easily accessible through the university.

Pros
  • qualification
  • increased confidence
  • self-assurance
Cons
  • long waiting process
  • not as much teaching material as I wouldve liked
  • Accomodation and food wasnt the best

Gotoco 6 Week CertTESOL programme in Bali

I would recommend Gotoco as it gave me such an amazing opportunity and I enjoyed all aspects of the program, including the teaching, the opportunity to meet new people, the freedom to explore Bali, the cultural excursions and other opportunities to immerse myself in Balinese culture, and the opportunity to work towards a CertTESOL qualification. I thought the balance of work and free time on the course was perfect; I liked the fact that I was doing something beneficial for my professional development and to others while I was there whilst I was also I was able to explore Bali in depth before I had to go home.

Pros
  • Opportunity to visit a new country
  • Opportunity to gain a CertTESOL qualification
  • Opportunity to meet new people

Excellent Cultural Exchange in Thailand

This programme encourages the individual to see more of the world and experience something new. Gotoco organises activities that are exciting and enriching.
This programme has benefitted me in several ways: living in a country which was far from home helped me to boost my confidence. I met incredible people throughout this journey who I learned a lot from. I saw beautiful places. I got to try new flavours. I learned a lot about Buddhism. I learned to use basic phrases in Thai to communicate with local people.

Bali Gotoco 2022

I had an amazing time on my Bali Gotoco trip. I met brilliant people who I will stay in touch with, visited places that I had never imagined I would and acquired many new skills along the way. It was such an easy process to sign on to Gotoco and the whole experience ran very smoothly. My highlight of the trip was definitely when we took a ferry to visit Nusa Penida island. It was so beautiful and unlike anything I had seen before. The sense of independence and resilience that I gained on this trip was so empowering.

Pros
  • meeting new people
  • visiting new places
  • building resilence
Cons
  • the TESOL course was not run well
  • ocassional 'Bali Belly'
  • not enough time there

Poland

Gotoco were super helpful throughout the process. Me and a group of other young people spent a month of our summer in Poland working on an english immersion camp. It was incredibly enjoyable and i loved meeting loads of new people throughout my time there. Together we went of a cultural tour of Warsaw and Krakow after we finished working at the camp. As well as this we were working towards a funded TESOL qualification and getting experience being there. i would recommended that other people also do this programme as it was extremely enjoyable.
